Problems and failures that emerge in Cyber-Physical systems (CPSs), particularly in robotic applications, may originate from various sources, including software bugs, security incidents, hardware malfunctions, and human errors. As robotic systems are deployed in various domains and application contexts, such as manufacturing sites, shop floors, agriculture, and autonomous vehicles, ensuring their safe and secure operation is a crucial aspect. While high-fidelity simulations are frequently used to validate system behavior and to perform tests, the “simulator-to-reality gap” presents significant challenges, requiring additional field testing to validate a system under realistic conditions. As simulations alone are insufficient for performing comprehensive testing and for ensuring adherence to both functional and non-functional requirements, real-world field testing helps to alleviate these issues. However, compared to wellestablished unit testing approaches, field testing typically is still a rather ad hoc process, with insufficient support from tools and frameworks. Field tests often heavily rely on human observations, hence risking overlooking critical issues. There is a pressing need for structured, guided field-testing processes combined with adaptive runtime monitoring to capture the data required for effective error diagnosis and analysis. This paper introduces initial concepts for the Smart Unified Runtime Monitoring Infrastructure for Guided Field-Testing (SMURF) framework designed for robotic applications, combining structured test execution with automated, adaptable monitors, to ensure the efficient collection of data required for post-test analysis. Building on prior efforts in drone field-testing frameworks, we extend our scope to identify essential features for testing and monitoring ROS-based systems. Educational operating systems are crucial for facilitating learning in the digital age, as they exist at the intersection of technology and education. While their technical role is well understood, improving their educational value requires enhancing traditional approaches. This paper explores ways to enrich educational operating systems not just through technological advancement, but also by integrating pedagogical principles. In an ever-changing world, the need for an adaptive and responsive educational operating system to meet diverse student needs is crucial. The world is witnessing sustained effects of information technologies across all works of life. Though some of these influences are markedly negative and detrimental to the socio-economic prospects and progress of the society, the positive effects are often impressive especially where they are integrated for the betterment and greater good of the larger society. One of the fastest growing technologies is nanotechnology. Nanotechnology has numerous prospects and applicability across various sectors ranging from electronics, telecommunications, agriculture and food production, biotechnology and genetics, oil prospecting and production, remote sensing, drug production, to name a few. This novel technology readily finds usefulness and several researches are ongoing, geared at developing new tools and techniques that would improve its acceptance across the concerned domains. It is this quest that has culminated into the ongoing effort in nanoinformatics, an interdisciplinary study and a subdomain of informatics simply regarded as the conscientious application of informatics tools and technologies to the analysis, design and development of systems on the broad spectrum of nanomaterials including their physicochemical and environmental characteristics as well as their interactions, interrelationships, and applications within a given domain. This paper presents a review of some opportunities for individuals, experts, and the society especially in the production of cost-effective nanotechnology-based healthcare products. Notwithstanding the aforesaid opportunities which could be harnessed and sustained in any developing country like Nigeria, this paper identifies and buttresses core challenges that could confront the adoption of good nanoinformatics methodologies.
