CAT: A simple heterogeneous ensemble learning framework for network intrusion detection

Given the abundance of cyber-attacks in wireless communications, machine learning can be essential in identifying intrusions. Ensemble learning has been proven to be a well-known technique for boosting performance and reducing variance. In this paper, we propose a simple ensemble supervised machine learning system, which consists of three classifiers: one-dimensional Convolutional Neural Network, FT-Transformer, and XGBoost, to categorize network traffic as benign or malicious. To find a suitable ensemble method for these classifiers, we implemented three ensemble strategies to integrate these classifiers and assessed their performance. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed ensemble model achieves strong performance in intrusion detection, as measured by various classification metrics. When evaluated on four benchmark datasets, the model consistently delivers high Accuracy, Precision, Recall, and F1-score. The research showcases the viability of various algorithms, the power of the self-attention model, and the significance of ensemble approaches in strengthening cyber-defense strategies and understanding modern cyber threats.

This study proposes a comprehensive method to reduce the problems posed by global air pollution. To measure pollution levels and raise public awareness, the research uses a comprehensive strategy that incorporates image processing, time series analysis, chatbot, and facemask recognition. Time series analysis is used to build prediction models by recognizing historical patterns, and image processing techniques are used to examine cloud pictures for precise pollution predictions. Chatbots provide real time communication and may educate the public on environmental facts, health risks, and safety procedures. Additionally, it has a facemask identification system that monitors and promotes the use of masks. Importantly this not only encourages users to take action to reduce pollution but also utilizes predictive models to help mitigate pollution's consequences. These components result in improved public health, environmental conservation, and sustainability. The outcomes reflect significant advantages, with evidence of accuracy and its positive impact on both awareness and proactive measures to combat air pollution. © 2023 IEEE.

To ensure the security of image information and facilitate efficient management in the cloud, the utilization of reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDHEI) has emerged as pivotal. However, most existing RDHEI schemes suffer from lower security and limited embedding capacity. To tackle these challenges, we propose a reversible data hiding with secret encrypted image sharing and adaptive coding scheme. Specifically, in the encryption phase, we introduce an improved secret sharing (SS) encryption method based on the chinese remainder theorem for polynomials (CRTP). This method not only improves the security of encrypted images but also vacates a larger room for embedding. In the embedding phase, we introduce an adaptive coding embedding approach using XOR preservation (XORP) and huffman coding, which provides high embedding capacity. Experimental results and security analysis demonstrate that our proposed encryption method achieves optimal values in security indicators for encrypted images, such as information entropy, histograms, NPCR and UACI. The proposed embedding method is superior to some state-of-the-art schemes in terms of embedding capacity. Furthermore, in datasets BOSSBase and BOWS2, the average embedding rates of the proposed embedding approach can reach 2.1745 bpp and 2.0656 bpp, respectively. © 2025 IEEE.

Vaxallot seeks to implement a system to distribute vaccines across high-risk groups accounting for various parameters and prove to be superior to what conventional systems are capable of today. It is a Python flask-based tool backed by infrastructure and data resources from the Covid India central repository;all it needs is a single channel input and a single parameter of the value produced, and the algorithm will take care of the rest. Since it’s Python-based and has an active integration with google sheets, live value updating could be possible for the real-time output of the distribution. The novelty of the proposed mechanism is the unique priority index, a score that accounts for an array of factors associated with the pandemic and is computed for regions in question here;this makes way for better distribution of vaccines. The application has an exclusive segment centered on handling excess units, if any. Moreover, since the application is developed to suit the needs of dynamic demographics, any region can roll out this application for purposes they desire to serve the masses. The majority of businesses have made public appearances on various social media platforms as a result of recent advances in e-commerce and the popularity of social media websites. Customers can share their experiences in the form of online customer reviews, which can assist potential customers in determining the quality of a company and making purchasing decisions. Due to the large volume of published reviews, it becomes difficult for customers to read all of the reviews and assess the quality of the business, resulting in the problem of information overload. Several solutions have been proposed in the literature by researchers using statistical and machine learning techniques to predict the helpfulness of online customer reviews. However, most of the existing solutions are based on the use of various business, review, and reviewer features, which lead to generalizability issues. Moreover, very limited studies have examined the effectiveness of state-of-the-art pre-trained language models for the classification of helpful and unhelpful reviews. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effectiveness of XLNet, Albert, DistilBert, and Roberta for review helpfulness prediction using textual features. The models were fine-tuned using a publicly available dataset of Yelp reviews. The results showed that XLNet achieved the highest F1-score of 0.730 compared to a benchmark of 0.717 achieved by the BERT base model. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Maternal health is among the greatest challenges in the world, especially in rural areas as there lack medical practitioners, they do not have easily accessible publics clinics and transport is difficult. Therefore, high rates of maternal as well as infant morbidity and mortalities are recorded. This research utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) with machine learning algorithms to forecast and address maternal health hazards right at their onset stage. The current research utilizes the concept of AI along with many Machine Learning (ML) methods like the Ensemble Learning Model (ELM), Random Forest (RF), K-Nearest Neighbour (KNN), Decision-Tree (DT), XG-Boost (XGB), Cat Boost (CB), and Gradient Boosting (GB), along with Synthetic Minority Over-sampling Technique (SMOTE) algorithm used for dealing with the problem class imbalance within the data set. SMOTE algorithm is utilized for the dataset balancing process. The handling system involves refining data preprocessing with the help of feature engineering and robust data cleaning which makes sure that anomalies do not erode the reliability of the predictive model. The existing methods [1] used RF (90%), DT (87%), XGB (85%), CB (86%), and GB (81%) algorithms and were compared with the accuracies of the proposed models like Logistic Regression (LR), Ensemble Learning Bagging (ELB), Ensemble Learning Stacking (ELS), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU). The existing methods used only imbalance dataset. The accuracies of the proposed models with using SMOTE algorithm (balanced dataset) are LR (61.33%), KNN (81%), ELB (92.33%), ELS (90.66%) CNN (40.67%), RNN (59.67%), LSTM (54%), GRU (56%) respectively. Among these methods, ELB achieved 92.33% of accuracy with using SMOTE algorithm using imbalanced dataset. Whereas the accuracies of the proposed models without using SMOTE algorithm (imbalanced dataset) are LR (66.09%), KNN (68.47%)

Agriculture, energy, mining, healthcare, and transportation are a few of the top industries transformed by the industrial internet of things (IIoT). Industry 4.0 mainly relies on machine learning (ML) to use the vast interconnectedness and large amounts of IIoT data that IIoT primarily drives. ML approaches are trained on confidential data generated by the IIoT environment often exposes privacy to adversarial assaults. Blockchain-based ML is established in the proposed secured IIoT research work to safeguard and enhance privacy. This research proposes a Gaussian differential privacy-integrated machine learning model (GDPIMLM), created for a scalable and controlled IIoT system, fully connected (FC) layer, implemented blockchain benefits to create a privacy-preserving mechanism while considering other limitations and reasonable time. A probability test using two altered Gaussian distributions (GD) forms the basis for defining Gaussian differential privacy (GDP). Due to a central restriction theorem for differential privacy, GDP is the primary privacy term within the family of Federal differential privacy (f-DP) policies. Ethereum is used to implement experimental evaluations. Data collections show that the recommended method enhances digital data privacy with industry-leading security without reducing performance. The performance analysis of the proposed model of secured industrial internet of things (IIoT) is studied using the accuracy of comparison with existing methods and for diverse distributed entities (DE). The proposed secured IIoT attains a minimal time consumption (TC) of 790 Sec—the highest accuracy of 92%, outperforming the existing method. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
