With the advancement and availability of the internet in the present age, everything is being wireless. Be it our home appliances or high defined monitoring systems, Wireless sensor networks play an important role. But with advancement comes a high probability of getting attacked. One of these attacks is the Blackhole attack (BHA), in which a node drains all the traffic towards itself and discards the data traffic without sending it towards the receiver. There exist multiple approaches that help to protect a network against BHA, but existing approaches have some drawbacks. Many proposed schemes make sure that the given technique uses less energy but failed to reduce the packet drop ratio. In the detection of BHA, the proposed scheme should not only detect defected nodes but also manages the efficiency. The proposed methodology used mobile agents with authentication of nodes and trust values to detect black hole nodes. The methodology is tested using different evaluation measures such as energy consumption, latency, network life, and packet delivery ratio. The proposed method uses a detection algorithm that increases energy consumption and hence networks lifetime. Packet delivery rate is increased by 19.51%, the energy consumption is reduced by 53.3%, and network life is increased by 43.3% as compared to the previous technique. © 2023 IEEE.

Battery energy storage systems (BESS) enable many applications for photovoltaic (PV) equipped nano-grids. Stored excessive energy is utilized for energy arbitrage, demand response during blackouts, and peak shaving. This technology helped utility service providers deal with the duck-curve-effect and intermittency of renewable energy systems. In this paper, we investigate the benefits of using energy storage systems in PV nano-grids for residential sectors and evaluate the relationship between battery presence and system performance. We also analyze the effects of battery degradation on energy independence and self-sufficiency and investigate the relationship between simple payback time and state of health (SoH) levels of nano-grid components. Additionally, we propose a simple rule-based energy supervision strategy and evaluate its performance under various forecasting error levels, highlighting the importance of high-performance forecasting methods for proper energy management systems. Our contributions will help select and optimize PV-battery solutions and energy management algorithms to achieve the highest benefit and minimize investment risks. © 2023 IEEE.

The extensive spread of DeepFake images on the internet has emerged as a significant challenge, with applications ranging from harmless entertainment to harmful acts like blackmail, misinformation, and spreading false propaganda. To tackle this issue, this paper introduces a sophisticated DeepFake detection model designed to identify and mitigate the increase of these deceptive images. The model architecture integrates an ensemble approach, combining the strengths of two pre-trained Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models—MobileNet and Xception—with a novel CNN architecture, the Advanced CNN (ACNN). This rigorous validation process enabled the model to achieve a high accuracy rate of 97.89% in detecting DeepFakes. The successful implementation of this ensemble CNN approach demonstrates its effectiveness in distinguishing between real and fabricated imagery with high precision. This research makes a substantial contribution to the field of digital image forensics, offering a reliable tool for stakeholders across various sectors to identify and counteract the spread of DeepFake images online.

The most valuable resource on the planet is no longer oil,but *** transmission of this data securely over the internet is another challenge that comes with its ever-increasing *** order to transmit sensitive information securely,researchers are combining robust cryptography and steganographic *** objective of this research is to introduce a more secure method of video steganography by using Deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA)for embedding encrypted data and an intelligent frame selection algorithm to improve video *** the previous approach,DNA was used only for frame *** this DNA is compromised,then our frames with the hidden and unencrypted data will be *** the frame selected in this way were random frames,and no consideration was made to the contents of *** data in this way introduces visible artifacts in *** the proposed approach rather than using DNA for frame selection we have created a fakeDNA out of our data and then embedded it in a video file on intelligently selected frames called the complex *** chaotic maps and linear congruential generators,a unique pixel set is selected each time only from the identified complex frames,and encrypted data is embedded in these random *** results demonstrate that the proposed technique shows minimum degradation of the stenographic video hence reducing the very first chances of visual ***,the selection of complex frames for embedding and creation of a fake DNA as proposed in this research have higher peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR)and reduced mean squared error(MSE)values that indicate improved *** proposed methodology has been implemented in Matlab.

This paper proposes a visualization method for the mixed type of high-dimension and low sample-size (HDLSS) data. The data consists of both numerical and categorical data with respect to quantitative and qualitative variables, and the number of variables is much larger than the number of objects. The proposed method can treat both types of data simultaneously in a lower dimensional space. From this, we can compare the two kinds of features obtained from the two types of data in the lower dimensional space. In addition, since this visualization can be obtained based on the mathematical theory of metric multidimensional scaling, the comparability is mathematically guaranteed. As a numerical example, we show how the devices used by students to perform activities of reading, writing, listening, and speaking English texts of different lengths are related to their English test scores. In this case, the choice of device is obtained as qualitative data, and the test scores are obtained as quantitative data. In order to visually obtain these relationships, the two must be mathematically comparable in the same low-dimensional space. With the proposed method, we have achieved this and shown that it is possible to interpret the relationship between the two. © 2024 The Authors.

Tumor type classification and candidate cancer-specific biomarkers discovery via semi-supervised learning

Identifying cancer-related differentially expressed genes provides significant information for diagnosing tumors, predicting prognoses, and effective treatments. Recently, deep learning methods have been used to perform gene differential expression analysis using microarray-based high-throughput gene profiling and have achieved good results. In this study, we proposed a new robust multiple-datasetsbased semi-supervised learning model, MSSL, to perform tumor type classification and candidate cancer-specific biomarkers discovery across multiple tumor types and multiple datasets, which addressed the following long-lasting obstacles:(1) the data volume of the existing single dataset is not enough to fully exert the advantages of deep learning;(2) a large number of datasets from different research institutions cannot be effectively used due to inconsistent internal variances and low quality;(3) relatively uncommon cancers have limited effects on deep learning methods. In our article, we applied MSSL to The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA) and the Gene Expression Comprehensive Database(GEO) pan-cancer normalized-level3 RNA-seq data and got 97.6% final classification accuracy, which had a significant performance leap compared with previous approaches. Finally, we got the ranking of the importance of the corresponding genes for each cancer type based on classification results and validated that the top genes selected in this way were biologically meaningful for corresponding tumors and some of them had been used as biomarkers, which showed the efficacy of our method.

Several newly developed techniques and tools for manipulating images, audio, and videos have been introduced as an outcome of the recent and rapid breakthroughs in AI, machine learning, and deep learning. While most applications for these techniques or tools are in the fields of entertainment and education, some individuals with unlawful intent have also been benefited from them. These individuals use such techniques for various purposes, including the spread of misleading information and unnecessary propaganda, the incitement of political instability, hate and unrest, as well as for purposes of torture and blackmail. These high-quality and convincing manipulated images, audio, or videos are commonly referred to as ‘Deepfakes’.Since then, various solutions to the problems raised by Deepfakes have been proposed in academic studies. This literature review contains relevant publications that offered a variety of approaches to give an updated summary of the research activities in different types of Deepfake attacks, their detection, and countermeasures. It also assesses the effectiveness of the detection capabilities of different techniques with various datasets and algorithms applied in Deepfake detection, while also outlining the various benefits and drawbacks of various methodologies.

The neurological condition epilepsy is demanding and even fatal. Electroencephalogram (EEG)-based epilepsy detection still faces various difficulties. EEG readings fluctuate, and different patients have various seizure activity patterns. EEG signal detection is time-consuming and labour-intensive, which puts a strain on medical staff and raises the possibility of erroneous detections. Usually, electrodes are inserted into the scalp or inside the brain for a brief period of time in order to obtain EEG data. It is essential to research efficient cross-patient automatic epilepsy detection techniques. The multi-head self-attention mechanism recognises long-distance dependencies with the same proficiency as it does temporal dynamic correlations between short-term temporal pattern characteristics and sequential relationships. The contextual representations are inputted into a bidirectional long short-term memory network (BiLSTM) so that information can be extracted in both directions. Classification and training are carried out utilising the log SoftMax algorithm. The experiments utilised scalp EEG data from the CHB-MIT database. Sensitivity, specificity, F1-score, and accuracy were computed to be 96.5 percent, 97.04 percent, 96.6 percent, and 96.2 percent, respectively. The results of the experiment show how well the technique works for detecting seizures in several patients utilising multi-channel EEG recordings. The results also demonstrate the method's improved generalisation capabilities and resilience and consistency in collecting seizure patterns. This is particularly critical for the tertiary diagnosis of epilepsy, and the findings indicate that the proposed method significantly improves the accuracy of detection. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Given maize’s significant role as a staple crop, it becomes imperative to carry out precise crop yield prediction to ensure food security. This research employs machine learning algorithms to analyze historical data related to maize crop yields, with the aim of developing a predictive model. The outcome of this study can serve as a valuable tool for pre-harvest planning and measuring crop production per unit of land area. The dataset utilized in this research spans from 2010 to 2021 and was sourced from Ethiopia’s Central Statistical Agency. Three machine learning regression algorithms—Logistic Regression, XGBoost, and Random Forest—were employed to design the predictive model. After data preparation and preprocessing, a total of 436,358 records were used for model development. The models were further trained with reduced features using principal component analysis (PCA). The experimental results demonstrate that the Random Forest algorithm, trained with a reduced number of features through PCA, yielded superior performance, with a lower error rate and a high R2 score of 0.98. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
