In the human pose estimation task, on the one hand, 3-D pose always has difficulty in dividing different 2-D poses if the view is limited;on the other hand, it is hard to reduce the lifting ambiguity because of the lack of depth information, it is an important and challenging problem. Therefore, two-stage representation refinement based on the convex combination for 3-D human pose estimation is proposed, in which the two-stage method includes a dense-spatial-temporal convolutional network and a local-to-refine network. The former is applied to determine the features between each video frame;the latter is used to get the different scales of pose details. It aims to address the difficulty of estimating 3-D human pose from 2-D image sequences. In such a way, it can better use the relations between every frame in the sequence of the pose video to produce more accurate results. Finally, we combine the above network with a block called convex combination to help refine the 3-D pose location. We test the proposed approach on both Human3.6m and MPII datasets. The result confirms that our method can achieve better performance than improved CNN supervision, a simple yet effective baseline, and coarse-to-fine volumetric prediction. Besides, a robustness test experiment is carried out for the proposed method while the input is interrupted. The result verifies that our method shows better robustness. © 2024 IEEE.

Active disturbance-rejection methods are effective in estimating and rejecting disturbances in both transient and steady-state *** paper presents a deep observation on and a comparison between two of those methods:the generalized extended-state observer(GESO)and the equivalent input disturbance(EID)from assumptions,system configurations,stability conditions,system design,disturbance-rejection performance,and extensibility.A time-domain index is introduced to assess the disturbance-rejection performance.A detailed observation of disturbance-suppression mechanisms reveals the superiority of the EID approach over the GESO method.A comparison between these two methods shows that assumptions on disturbances are more practical and the adjustment of disturbance-rejection performance is easier for the EID approach than for the GESO method.

Alarm systems serve as the first layer of protection for modern process industries to monitor industrial processes and ensure operational safety. However, the presence of alarm floods is common in alarm systems and may distract operators from critical alarms. To provide decision supports to operators during alarm flood situations, alarm prediction becomes a potential effective solution. The difficulty of alarm prediction lies in how to achieve high prediction accuracy over long-term consecutive alarm monitoring periods, including situations with either high or low alarm rates. Consequently, this paper presents an industrial alarm prediction method for both alarm flood periods and non-alarm flood periods. Specifically, a strategy of combining fixed-length and fixed-time sliding windows is designed. Further, an alarm prediction model based on Informer is proposed for alarm prediction under different alarm rates. A case study is presented to prove the validity of the proposed alarm prediction method. © 2024 IEEE.

One of the most important preliminary tasks in a transcription system of historical document images is text line segmentation. Nevertheless, this task remains complex due to the idiosyncrasies of ancient document images. In this article, we present a complete framework for text line segmentation in historical Arabic or Latin document images. A two-step procedure is described. First, a deep fully convolutional networks (FCN) architecture has been applied to extract the main area covering the text core. In order to select the highest performing FCN architecture, a thorough performance benchmarking of the most recent and widely used FCN architectures for segmenting text lines in historical Arabic or Latin document images has been conducted. Then, a post-processing step, which is based on topological structure analysis is introduced to extract complete text lines (including the ascender and descender components). This second step aims at refining the obtained FCN results and at providing sufficient information for text recognition. Our experiments have been carried out using a large number of Arabic and Latin document images collected from the Tunisian national archives as well as other benchmark datasets. Quantitative and qualitative assessments are reported in order to firstly pinpoint the strengths and weaknesses of the different FCN architectures and secondly to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed post-processing method. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

An alarm flood is a situation where the alarm rate is too high and exceeds the operator's management ability. The occurrence and propagation of an alarm flood cause difficulties for the operators to respond to critical alarms in time, which may make the situation further deteriorate into an industrial accident. In this paper, a semi-supervised method is proposed for root cause identification of alarm floods via graph-based manifold regularization. A vector representation method for industrial alarm event data is presented based on word embedding for alarm textual encoding. A semi-supervised method is proposed to identify root causes of alarm floods based on both labeled and unlabeled alarm flood sequences. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by a case study with data generated by a public industrial simulation model. © 2024 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Open-circuit fault under different load and variable working conditions is the most severe issue that affects the robustness of fault diagnosis algorithms. Considering this, this research work proposes a high-frequency fault diagnosis approach that is capable to detect and isolate a single open-switch fault in a single-phase five-level Packed U-Cell (PUC5) inverter, not only under stable conditions but also under different load and variable working conditions. Firstly, a high frequency model of the PUC5 inverter is proposed. Then, the conducted emissions, measured across the electromagnetic interferences filter resistor, are employed as a fault signature. Finally, simulation results are considered to verify the effectiveness of the proposed fault diagnosis method. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, the master-slave synchronization issue of chaotic Lur' e systems with time-varying-delay feedback control is investigated. Firstly, the synchronization problem of chaotic system is transformed into the stability problem of chaotic synchronization error system, which is studied based on Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) method. Secondly, a novel augmented LKF with more cross terms that related to time-varying delay is proposed. Based on the application of the relaxation integral inequality and the reciprocally convex matrix inequality, an improved synchronization criterion is derived by using the cubic function negative-determination lemma. Finally, a numerical simulation example demonstrates the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed methods. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Geo-hazards have become one of the main disasters endangering the safety of people's lives and property in the world. In order to improve the early warning of disasters, a persistent monitoring method of multi-agent systems is proposed in this work. To ensure that the agent's energy is never exhausted, the set invariance constraint is included in the optimization problem. The goal is to minimize the difference between the actual control input of the robot and the nominal control input corresponding to the task to be performed. Moreover, the control barrier function (CBF) is used to transform the forward invariance of a subset of the robot state space into a control input constraint. The coverage control method in an uncertain environment is verified by numerical simulation. This work provides new insights into effective monitoring and early warning of geo-hazards. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

A fault diagnosis method based on Discrete Hidden Markov Models is proposed in this paper to identify the fault causing alarm flood sequences. The proposed method consists of the following steps: First, the alarm flood data is pre-processed to ensure that all sequences are of uniform length, and a separate Discrete Hidden Markov model is trained for each fault to capture the relationship between the fault and the alarm sequences. Second, given an observation sequence, the log-likelihood probability values under different Discrete Hidden Markov models are calculated and the maximum probability is selected to determine the type of corresponding fault. Last, the feasibility of the proposed method is verified by simulation data obtained from a public industrial model. The results show that the method can effectively identify the faults that trigger alarm floods. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

This paper presents an improved stability criterion and controller design scheme condition for a networked control system under denial of service (DoS) attack. Firstly, the DoS attack interval is divided into attack interval and no attack interval, therefore, a switching-like event-triggered control can be established to reduce the waste of network resources and improve network efficiency. Then, the studied system is transformed into a time-delay system, and an improved stability criterion and controller design method are established by using Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF). Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by a simulation example. © 2023 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.
