Plants have an im.ortant role in our life, but due to environm.ntal changes, m.ny species of plants are facing extinction. It is very im.ortant to treasure this great wealth by m.intaining com.lete details of all types of plant which will help in understanding the aspect of their survival. A leaf plays an im.ortant role in the identification of plant. Edge details of a leaf are detected using edge detection algorithm. and can be stored in the form.of feature vectors. Hence to im.rove the effectiveness of identification of leaf, we are hereby proposing to generate Clustered Database. This paper introduces an approach of Clustering based on Eccentricity. For clustering database, K-m.ans algorithm.is used. Experim.ntal results show the effectiveness of form.ng clusters by calculating entropy and purity. From.experim.ntal results, it was found that the proposed approach of clustering is quite effective and would enhance the retrieval efficiency.

Artificial com.osite m.terials have been proven to be viable candidates to increase the degrees of freedom.in the interaction of electrom.gnetic (Em. fields with m.tter. Com.osite m.terials (m.m.) add very interesting possibilities to control Em.waves from.m.crowaves to optical frequencies. As a subset of m.m., artificial com.osite m.terials that exhibit ε-near-zero (ENZ) properties have attracted a great deal of attention in view of their potential applications, including tunneling of electrom.gnetic energy, highly directional beam.ng, cloaking devices, boosting of optical nonlinearities and low-threshold nonlinear effects.

Ad hoc On-dem.nd Distance Vector (AODV) is a routing schem. for delivering m.ssages in a connected m.bile Ad hoc Network (m.NET). Connectivity between any sources to destination pair in the network exists when they are in radio range of each other. Local Repair is an im.ortant issue in routing protocol which is needed for m.nim.zing flooding and perform.nce im.rovem.nt. Routes can be locally repaired by the node that detects the link break along the end to end path. In this paper, the existing Local Repair Trial m.thod in AODV is extended to achieve broadcasting and m.nim.zing the flooding. The enhanced protocol first creates the group of m.bile nodes then broadcasting can be done and if the link breaks then local repair technique can be applied. In the network the num.ers of interm.diate nodes are increased by using Diam.ter Perim.ter m.del. Enhanced AODV-Local Repair Trial (EAODVLRT) protocol is im.lem.nted on NS2 network sim.lator. Sim.lations are perform.d to analyze and com.are the behavior of proposed protocol (EAODVLRT) for varying param.ters such as size of network, node load etc. Proposed protocol has been com.ared with the existing AODV-LRT in term. of routing load, Data delivery ratio. © Institute for computer sciences, Social Inform.tics and Telecom.unications engineering 2012.

Distributions of transverse m.m.ntum.$$p_T^{\ell \ell }$$ and the related angular variable $$\phi ^*_\eta $$ of DrellΓÇôYan lepton pairs are m.asured in 20.3┬áfb $$^{-1}$$ of protonΓÇôproton collisions at $$\sqrt{s}=8$$ ┬áTeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. m.asurem.nts in electron-pair and m.on-pair final states are corrected for detector effects and com.ined. Com.ared to previous m.asurem.nts in protonΓÇôproton collisions at $$\sqrt{s}=7$$ ┬áTeV, these new m.asurem.nts benefit from.a larger data sam.le and im.roved control of system.tic uncertainties. m.asurem.nts are perform.d in bins of lepton-pair m.ss above, around and below the Z-boson m.ss peak. The data are com.ared to predictions from.perturbative and resum.ed QCD calculations. For values of $$\phi ^*_\eta < 1$$ the predictions from.the m.nte Carlo generator ResBos are generally consistent with the data within the theoretical uncertainties. However, at larger values of $$\phi ^*_\eta $$ this is not the case. m.nte Carlo generators based on the parton-shower approach are unable to describe the data over the full range of $$p_T^{\ell \ell }$$ while the fixed-order prediction of Dynnlo falls below the data at high values of $$p_T^{\ell \ell }$$ . ResBos and the parton-shower m.nte Carlo generators provide a m.ch better description of the evolution of the $$\phi ^*_\eta $$ and $$p_T^{\ell \ell }$$ distributions as a function of lepton-pair m.ss and rapidity than the basic shape of the data.

The ATLAS m.asurem.nt of the inclusive top quark pair ( $$t\bar{t}$$ ) cross-section $$\sigm. _{t\bar{t}}$$ in proton–proton collisions at $$\sqrt{s}=8$$ &am.;nbsp; $$\,\m.thrm.TeV}$$ has been updated using the final...

The ATLAS m.asurem.nt of the inclusive top quark pair ( $$t\bar{t}$$ ) cross-section $$\sigm. _{t\bar{t}}$$ in proton–proton collisions at $$\sqrt{s}=8$$ $$\,\m.thrm.TeV}$$ has been updated using the final 2012 lum.nosity calibration. The updated cross-section result is: $$\begin{aligned} \sigm. _{t\bar{t}}= 242.9\pm.1.7\pm.5.5\pm.5.1\pm.4.2\,\m.thrm.pb, \end{aligned}$$ where the four uncertainties arise from.data statistics, experim.ntal and theoretical system.tic effects, knowledge of the integrated lum.nosity and of the LHC beam.energy. The result is consistent with theoretical QCD calculations at next-to-next-to-leading order. The m.asurem.nt of the ratio of $$t\bar{t}$$ cross-sections at $$\sqrt{s}=8$$ $$\,\m.thrm.TeV}$$ and $$\sqrt{s}=7$$ $$\,\m.thrm.TeV}$$ , and the $$\sqrt{s}=8$$ $$\,\m.thrm.TeV}$$ fiducial m.asurem.nt corresponding to the experim.ntal acceptance of the leptons, have also been updated.

A search for highly ionizing particles produced in proton-proton collisions at 8 TeV center-of-m.ss energy is perform.d by the ATLAS Collaboration at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The data set used corresponds to an integrated lum.nosity of 7.0 fb−1. A custom.zed trigger significantly increases the sensitivity, perm.tting a search for such particles with charges and energies beyond what was previously accessible. No events were found in the signal region, leading to production cross section upper lim.ts in the m.ss range 200–2500 GeV for m.gnetic m.nopoles with m.gnetic charge in the range 0.5gD<|g|<2.0gD, where gD is the Dirac charge, and for stable particles with electric charge in the range 10<|z|<60. m.del-dependent lim.ts are presented in given pair-production scenarios, and m.del-independent lim.ts are presented in fiducial regions of particle energy and pseudorapidity.

This paper presents a study of and triboson production using events from.proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-m.ss energy of recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC and corresponding to an integrated lum.nosity of 20.2 fb . The production cross-section is determ.ned using a final state containing an electron, a m.on, a photon, and neutrinos ( ). Upper lim.ts on the production cross-section of the final state and the and final states containing an electron or a m.on, two jets, a photon, and a neutrino ( or ) are also derived. The results are com.ared to the cross-sections predicted by the Standard m.del at next-to-leading order in the strong-coupling constant. In addition, upper lim.ts on the production cross-sections are derived in a fiducial region optim.sed for a search for new physics beyond the Standard m.del. The results are interpreted in the context of anom.lous quartic gauge couplings using an effective field theory. Confidence intervals at 95% confidence level are derived for the 14 coupling coefficients to which and production are sensitive.

Electric field enhancem.nt in ɛ-near-zero slabs under Tm.polarized oblique incidence

We investigate local-field enhancem.nt phenom.na in subwavelength, ε-near-zero (ENZ) slabs that do not exploit Fabry-Pérot resonances. In particular, we study the linear response of engineered m.tam.terial slabs of finite thickness based on plasm.nic nanoshells that show an ENZ band in the visible range, and naturally occurring m.terials (e.g., SiO2) that also display ENZ properties, under oblique, Tm.polarized plane-wave incidence. We then introduce active gain m.terial in engineered m.tam.terial slabs that adds peculiar spectral and angular features to transm.ssion, reflection, and absorption properties, and leads to a further local-field enhancem.nt. These findings are supported by two theoretical studies: First, a sim.le interface between two sem.-infinite m.dia, nam.ly free space and a generic ENZ m.dium. then, an ENZ slab of finite thickness, with the aim.of understanding the system.s behavior when varying the ENZ properties as well as the incident angle. For either case we report three distinct physical conditions for which we explain spectral and angular features that m.ght result in strong field enhancem.nt. The gain-assisted m.tam.terial im.lem.ntation has the potential of triggering and enhancing low-threshold nonlinear phenom.na thanks to the large local fields found at specific frequency and angular bands.

The m.m.ntum.weighted sum.of the charges of tracks associated to a jet is sensitive to the charge of the initiating quark or gluon. This paper presents a m.asurem.nt of the distribution of m.m.ntum.weighted sum., called jet charge, in dijet events using 20.3 fb−1 of data recorded with the ATLAS detector at s=8 TeV in pp collisions at the LHC. The jet charge distribution is unfolded to rem.ve distortions from.detector effects and the resulting particle-level distribution is com.ared with several m.dels. The pT dependence of the jet charge distribution average and standard deviation are com.ared to predictions obtained with several leading-order and next-to-leading-order parton distribution functions. The data are also com.ared to different m.nte Carlo sim.lations of QCD dijet production using various settings of the free param.ters within these m.dels. The chosen value of the strong coupling constant used to calculate gluon radiation is found to have a significant im.act on the predicted jet charge. There is evidence for a pT dependence of the jet charge distribution for a given jet flavor. In agreem.nt with perturbative QCD predictions, the data show that the average jet charge of quark-initiated jets decreases in m.gnitude as the energy of the jet increases.
