Source code comments play a critical role in software development by facilitating issue resolution and reducing maintenance time and cost. However, the impact of code comments, particularly those aiding program comprehension, on expediting issue resolution remains insufficiently explored. This study investigates the impact of code comments on issue resolution time for issues related to pulling requests involving code maintenance. To this end, ten of the most popular Java repositories on GitHub were selected, and closed pull request-related issues were identified using a specific criterion. Comments were then extracted from classes modified by the pull requests, and a trained BERT model was utilized to classify them according to their usefulness. The percentage of comments relative to code size, the percentage of useful comments relative to all comments, and the average issue resolution time were computed and examined for correlations. The results indicate a negative correlation (-0.68) between the percentage of code comments in modified classes and the average issue resolution time. A stronger negative correlation (-0.73) was found between the percentage of useful code comments to all comments in modified classes and the average issue resolution time per class. These findings demonstrate that code with more comments, particularly useful ones, leads to faster issue resolution. This serves as a basis for further research into the impact of various fine-grained comment types on issue resolution time in different programming languages. Also, it can assist developers in writing more effective comments that accelerate bug-fixing and reduce software maintenance efforts. © 2023 IEEE.

Unreliable design practices on Ethiopian road construction projects have become a crucial matter concerning the late completion of road construction projects, high-cost overruns, and premature failures. The present research encompasses the revealed preference and stated preference data conducted through traditional printed questionnaires versus online Web-based cellular phone questionnaires for assessing design practice concerning design firms of road projects administered by Ethiopian Roads Authority. Online real-time application-based questionnaire has developed for the data collection and interpretation. Artificial Intelligence (AI) planning is a flourishing research and development discipline that provides powerful tools for searching a course of action that achieves some user goal. While these planning tools show excellent performance on benchmark planning problems, they represent challenging software systems when it comes to their use and integration in real-world applications. In fact, even in-depth understanding of their internal mechanisms does not guarantee that one can successfully set up, use and manipulate existing planning tools. We contribute toward alleviating this situation by proposing a service-oriented planning architecture to be at the core of the ability to design, develop and use next-generation AI planning systems. We collect and classify common planning capabilities to form the building blocks of the planning architecture. We incorporate software design principles and patterns into the architecture to allow for usability, interoperability and reusability of the planning capabilities. Our prototype planning system demonstrates the potential of our approach for rapid prototyping and flexibility of system composition. Finally, we provide insight into the qualitative advantages of our approach when compared to a typical planning tool. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

this paper proposes a conceptual model for assessing user satisfaction in metaverse-based learning, a novel field that utilizes virtual reality technology to create an immersive and interactive learning experience. Despite the growing popularity of metaverse-based learning, there is a lack of research on how to evaluate user satisfaction in this type of learning environment. The proposed model includes four factors: Perceived Trialability, Perceived Observability, User Compatibility, and Perceived Complexity, each of which can be measured using statistical methods. The study aims to address the research gap in evaluating user satisfaction in metaverse-based learning and provides a model for educators and researchers to assess and improve user satisfaction in this innovative learning environment. The findings of this study contribute to the growing body of literature on metaverse-based learning and provide insights into the unique challenges associated with implementing this technology in educational settings.

Mr. Pulat joined AT&T in 1985 and is involved in system development modeling and just-in-time deliveries. He has a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in industrial engineering from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara Turkey and a Ph.D. in industrial engineering from North Carolina State University.Alan P. W. Hewettis a member of technical staff in the Manufacturing Engineering Systems Development Department of AT&T Bell Laboratories in Columbus Ohio. He joined the company in 1978 and designs and develops software for the Material Operations Velocity System (MOVES) a system that automates material handling in AT&T factories. He has a B.A. in chemistry from Kalamazoo College a Ph.D. in chemistry from Yale University and has done postdoctoral work in both chemistry and computer science at Harvard University.

moving, storing, and controlling material efficiently is one of the most challenging problems of manufacturing. In the last twenty years, several different technologies were developed for this purpose, including the automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS), which featured advancements in real‐time control of machines by computers. Today's AS/RS makes total material‐handling system integration a reality. This paper describes the experience of the AT&T Oklahoma City Works with such a system. © 1988 AT&T Technical Journal

His research interests are in data communications and multimedia applications computer networks image processing and pattern recognition. Abdel-Latif A. Abdel-Bary:obtained the BEng degree in Electronics Technology from Arab Maritime Transport Academy in 1986. In 1995 he obtained the MSc degree in Information Technology from the Institute of Graduate Studies & Research Alexandria University. His current research interests include ICAL hypermedia and automatic programming.

In this article a multimedia computer-assisted learning (mCAL) system is presented. The major objective of this work was to investigate the potential of using such systems as tools for transferring instructional course information through various types of computer media as opposed to the classic CAL systems. The philosophy and techniques employed to design the system are investigated. Usage of the implemented system and its merits have been illustrated through its application to teach engineering students and technicians the theory and concepts of marine radar. System design, implementation, test, and revision phases are presented and discussed.

Autonomous systems are able to make decisions and potentially take actions without direct human intervention, which requires some knowledge about the system and its environment as well as goal-oriented reasoning. In computer systems, one can derive such behavior from the concept of a rational agent with autonomy (“control over its own actions”), reactivity (“react to events from the environment”), proactivity (“act on its own initiative”), and sociality (“interact with other agents”) as fundamental properties \n[1]\n. Autonomous systems will undoubtedly pervade into our everyday lives, and we will find them in a variety of domains and applications including robotics, transportation, health care, communications, and entertainment to name a few. \nThe articles in this month’s special issue cover concepts and fundamentals, architectures and techniques, and applications and case studies in the exciting area of self-awareness in autonomous systems.

In this paper the temperature distribution on the section vertical to the axis of an asynchronous machine is calculated. For the calculation the numerical method of “Control Volumes” has been used.
