Analysis of the optimal target node to reduce seizure-like discharge in networks

Network approaches have been widely accepted to guide surgical strategy and predict outcome for epilepsy *** study starts with a single oscillator to explore brain activity,using a phenomenological model capable of describing healthy and epileptic *** ictal number of seizures decreases or remains unchanged with increasing the speed of oscillator excitability and in each seizure,there is an increasing tendency for ictal duration with respect to the *** underlying reason is that the strong excitability speed is conducive to reduce transition behaviors between two attractor ***,the selection of the optimal removal node is estimated by an indicator proposed in this *** show that when the indicator is less than the threshold,removing the driving node is more possible to reduce seizures significantly,while the indicator exceeds the threshold,the epileptic node could be the removal ***,the driving node is such a potential target that stimulating it is obviously effective in suppressing seizure-like activity compared to other nodes,and the propensity of seizures can be reduced 60%with the increased stimulus *** results could provide new therapeutic ideas for epilepsy surgery and neuromodulation.

Incident particles in the Klein tunnel phenomenon in quantum mechanics can pass a very high potential *** the concept of tunneling into the analysis of phononic crystals can broaden the application *** this study,the structure of the unit cell is designed,and the low frequency(<1 k Hz)valley locked waveguide is realized through the creation of a phononic crystal plate with a topological phase transition *** defect immunity of the topological waveguide is verified,that is,the wave can propagate along the original path in the cases of impurities and ***,the tunneling phenomenon is introduced into the topological valley-locked waveguide to analyze the wave propagation,and its potential applications(such as signal separators and logic gates)are further explored by designing phononic crystal *** research has broad application prospects in information processing and vibration control,and potential applications in other directions are also worth exploring.

A novel electron-phonon coupling thermoelasticity with Burgers electronic heat transfer

The electron-phonon interaction can reveal the microscopic mechanism of heat transfer in *** two-step heat conduction considering electron-phonon interaction has become an effective theoretical model for extreme environments,such as micro-scale and ultrafast *** this work,the two-step heat transfer model is further extended by considering the Burgers heat conduction model with the secondorder heat flux rate for ***,a novel generalized electron-phonon coupling thermoelasticity is proposed with the Burgers electronic heat ***,the problem of one-dimensional semi-infinite copper strip subject to a thermal shock at one side is studied by the Burgers two-step(BTS)*** thermoelastic analytical solutions are systematically derived in the Laplace domain,and the numerical Laplace inversion method is adopted to obtain the transient *** new model is compared with the parabolic two-step(PTS)model and the hyperbolic two-step(HTS)*** results show that in ultrafast heating,the BTS model has the same wave front jump as the HTS *** present model has the faster wave speed,and predicts the bigger disturbed regions than the HTS *** deeply,all two-step models also have the faster wave speeds than one-step *** work may benefit the theoretical modeling of ultrafast heating of metals.

This paper investigates logical stochastic resonance(LSR)in a cross-bifurcation non-smooth system driven by Gaussian colored *** this system,a bifurcation parameter triggers a transition between monostability,bistability and *** using Novikov's theorem and the unified colored noise approximation method,the approximate Fokker-Planck equation is *** we derive the generalized potential function and the transition rates to analyze the LSR phenomenon using numerical *** simulate the logic operation of the system in the bistable and tristable regions *** assess the impact of Gaussian colored noise on the LSR and discover that the reliability of the logic response depends on the noise strength and the bifurcation ***,it is found that the bistable region has a more extensive parameter range to produce reliable logic operation compared with the tristable region,since the tristable region is more sensitive to noise than the bistable one.

Topological edge state analysis of hexagonal phononic crystals

In this study,we propose valley phononic crystals that consist of a hexagonal aluminum plate with six chiral arrangements of *** phononic crystals were introduced into a topological insulator(TI)system to produce topologically protected edge waves(TPEW s)along the topological *** implementation of chiral topological edge states is different from the implementation of topological edge states of systems with *** the conventional breaking of mirror symmetry,a new complete band with topological edge modes gap was opened up at the Dirac point by tuning the difference in lengths of the ligaments in the chiral unit *** investigated the dispersion properties in chiral systems and applied the dispersion properties to waveguides on the interfaces to achieve designable route ***,we simulated the robust propagation of TPEWs in different routes and demonstrated their immunity to backscattering at ***,the existence of the valley Hall effect in chiral systems was *** study findings may lead to the further study of the topological states of chiral materials.

Tailored energy absorption for a novel auxetic honeycomb structure under large deformation

In comparison to conventional hexagonal honeycomb structures,auxetic metamaterials with re-entrant configurations have exhibited superior mechanical properties in terms of energy *** further enhance the energy absorption capacity of these materials,a novel re-entrant honeycomb configuration,named novel auxetic re-entrant honeycomb(NARH),is developed by incorporating“<>”-shaped cell walls into the conventional auxetic re-entrant honeycomb(ARH).Two analytical models for the plateau stress are formulated to consider the plastic deformation of NARH during quasi-static compression and the dynamic impact using the linear momentum ***-static compression tests on 3D printed NARH honeycomb specimens and finite element simulations are performed to verify the effectiveness of the theoretical *** exhibits higher plateau stresses compared with ARH during compression,which can be attributed to the presence of more plastic hinges formed in *** hinges,the embedded parts with inclined cell walls,not only improve stability by forming stable triangles during compression but also enhance the energy absorption capacity.A parametric study is conducted to analyze the effect of impact velocity,thickness,and incline angle of cell walls on *** simulations demonstrate higher sensitivity of the mechanical properties to impact velocity and cell wall *** ribs to the“<>”-shaped cell walls in NARH further reduces the initial peak force during dynamic crushing while maintaining high energy *** research provides valuable guidelines for the design of energy absorption metamaterials.

In-Plane Dynamic Crushing Behaviors of a Vertex-Based Hierarchical Auxetic Honeycomb

Auxetic metamaterials,which exhibit the negative Poisson’s ratio(NPR)effect,have found wide applications in many engineering ***,their high porosity inevitably weakens their bearing capacity and impact *** improve the energy absorption efficiency of auxetic honeycombs,a novel vertex-based hierarchical star-shaped honeycomb(VSH)is designed by replacing each vertex in the classical star-shaped honeycomb(SSH)with a newly added self-similar *** analytical model is built to investigate the Young’s modulus of VSH,which shows good agreement with experimental results and numerical *** in-plane dynamic crushing behaviors of VSH at three different crushing velocities are investigated,and empirical formulas for the densification strain and plateau stress are *** results reveal more stable deformation modes for VSH,attributed to the addition of self-similar star-shaped ***,compared with SSH under the same relative densities,VSH exhibits better specific energy absorption and higher plateau ***,VSH is verified to be a better candidate for energy absorption while maintaining the auxetic *** study is expected to provide a new design strategy for auxetic honeycombs.

Pattern transition and regulation in a subthalamopallidal network under electromagnetic effect

Although the significant roles of magnetic induction and electromagnetic radiation in the neural system have been widely studied,their influence on Parkinson’s disease(PD)has yet to be well *** virtue of the magnetic flux variable,this paper studies the transition of firing patterns induced by magnetic induction and the regulation effect of external magnetic radiation on the firing activities of the subthalamopallidal network in basal *** find:(i)The network reproduces five typical waveforms corresponding to the severity of symptoms:weak cluster,episodic,continuous cluster,episodic,and continuous wave.(ii)Magnetic induction is a double-edged sword for the treatment of *** the increase of magnetic coefficient may lead the physiological firing activity to transfer to pathological firing activity,it also can regulate the pathological intensity firing activity with excessiveβ-band power transferring to the physiological firing pattern with weakβ-band power.(iii)External magnetic radiation could inhibit continuous tremulous firing andβ-band power of subthalamic nucleus(STN),which means the severity of symptoms ***,the bi-parameter plane of the regulation region shows that a short pulse period of magnetic radiation and a medium level of pulse percentage can well regulate pathological *** work helps to understand the firing activity of the subthalamopallidal network under electromagnetic *** may also provide insights into the mechanisms behind the electromagnetic therapy of PD-related firing activity.

An accurate and straightforward symplectic method is presented for the fracture analysis of fractional two-dimensional(2D)viscoelastic *** fractional Kelvin-Zener constitutive model is used to describe the time-dependent behavior of viscoelastic *** the framework of symplectic elasticity,the governing equations in the Hamiltonian form for the frequency domain(s-domain)can be directly and rigorously *** the s-domain,the analytical solutions of the displacement and stress fields are constructed by superposing the symplectic eigensolutions without any trial function,and the explicit expressions of the intensity factors and J-integral are derived *** studies are provided to validate the accuracy and effectiveness of the present solutions.A detailed analysis is made to reveal the effects of viscoelastic parameters and applied loads on the intensity factors and J-integral.
