Arabic named entities (ANE) are often sources of information. That is why they are used by several applications of natural language processing (NLP) mainly in information retrieval. In order to improve the relevance of the information obtained, links to free resources can be established. Indeed, the recognition of these entities requires the use of adequate formalisms. In this paper, we propose an approach based on transducer cascades which allows the recognition of ANE more precisely the dates. This categorycan be an integral part in the events and the names of places. The implementation of the developed transducers cascades elaborated by using the CasSys tool is available under the Unitex platform. The results are motivating.

The conceptual step in the pervasive adaptation system is mostly aimed at the success of such a system. It is for this reason that the development of a conceptual adaptation system helps developers to implement their adaptation systems. Accordingly, several categories of contextual information can be presented in a pervasive information system;as such, the network context, the location context, the service context, the application context, the device context, and the person context. Again, a detailed description of each of these contextual information categories allows achieving a better adaptation of the applications to the contexts of use. However, the device context shows the focal point of any information system. In fact, the adaptation of the pervasive informationsystems, when using contexts, rests on the existing physical constraints in this context. In this paper, we present the architecture of adapting the applications to the pervasive system based on the semantic web services. Specifically, we are interested in the adaptation of the device context. The device contextual data are collected by using an Android program. The adaptation rules are also created using the Jena toolkit.

Semantic relatedness between terms plays an important role in many applications, such as information retrieval, in order to disambiguate document content. This latter is generally studied among pairs of terms and is usually presented in a non-linear way. This paper presents a new statistical method for detecting relationships between terms called Least Square Mehod which defines these relations linear and between a set of terms. The evaluation of the proposed method has led to optimal results with low error rate and meaningful relationships. Experimental results show that the use of these relationships in query expansion process improves the retrieval results.

The enrichment of Arabic treebank with syntactic properties provides the increase of its use in different applications, the acquisition of new linguistic resources and the alleviation of the probabilistic parsing process by using statistics to limit the properties to satisfied ones. This method of enrichment requires two steps to follow starting by inducting a Property Grammar from a source treebank and generating finally the new syntactic property-based representation.

The automatic lip-reading is a technology which helps understanding messages exchanged in the case of a noisy environment or of elderly hearing impairment. To carry out this system, we need to implement three subsystems. There is a locating and tracking lips system, labial descriptors extraction system and a classification and speech recognition system. In this work, we present a spatio-temporal approach to track and characterize lip movements for the automatic recognition of visemes of the French language. First, we segment lips using the color information and a geometric model of lips. Then, we apply a particle filter to track lip movements. Finally, we propose to extract and classify the visual informations to recognize the pronounced viseme. This approach is applied with multiple speakers in natural conditions.

Under the different searches performed to analyzing social networks, much attention has been devoted to the problem of predicting links. It is a key technique in many applications such as recommendation systems which provide suggestions of potential links between nodes. Traditional link prediction methods use a single proximity metric. In this paper, we study link prediction as a supervised learning task where we try to combine multiple features as input data for classification. To improve the accuracy of prediction, we have been applying a select attributes algorithm. Experiments have been performed on two co-authorship data sets. Results demonstrate that Random Forest, k-nearest neighbors and Principal Component Analysis yield the best performances.

Statistical parametric approach for speech synthesis becomes more popular over the concatenative approach due to the low size of the system and the high-quality speech. Moreover, few researches have been done in the field of speech synthesis for Arabic language with a poor quality of speech. In this paper, we propose a statistical parametric synthesis system for Arabic based on Artificial Neural Networks (ANN). Mel frequency Cepstral coefficients (MFCC), F0, energy and duration are the main components of our system. Speech waveform is generated from the predicted parameters F0, energy and MFCC. Different methods are proposed for this development process. In addition, we propose a method to solve the problem of discontinuities between neighboring segment boundaries in order to improve the speech quality. Experimental results of cepstral and prosodic parameters are given in this paper as well as the subjective evaluation.
