The ElectroCardioGram (ECG) is one of the most used signals for the prediction of heart disease. Lots of research are based on the ECG signal for the detection of cardiac diseases. In this research, we propose a four phases method to the recognition of cardiac disease. The first phase is to remove noise and detect QRS complex using a pass-band filter. In the second phase, we segment the filtered signal. For third phase is to make a fusion of three types of characteristics such as Zero Crossing Rate (ZCR), entropy and cepstral coefficients. Those features extracted considered as input in the next step which is the combination between Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) proposed for multi-class classification of the ECG signal into five classes: Normal beat (N), Left bundle-branch block beat (L), Right bundle-branch block beat (R), premature Ventricular contraction (V), and Paced beat (P). The proposed model was evaluated using the MITBIH arrhythmia database and achieve an accuracy equal to 95.80%. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Automatic Lip-reading system is one of the different assistive technologies for hearing impaired or elderly people. We can imagine, for example, a dependent person ordering a machine with an easy lip movement or by a simple visemes (visual phoneme) pronunciation. The need for an automatic lip-reading system is ever increasing. The lip-reading system is decomposed in three subsystems, first we have the lip localization system, which localizes the lips in the digital input, then there is the feature extracting system, and finally we have the classification system, which maps feature vectors to visemes. The major difficulty of the lip-reading system is the extraction of the visual speech descriptors. In fact, to ensure this task it is necessary to carry out an automatic localization and tracking of the labial gestures. We present in this paper a new automatic approach for lip POI localization on a speaker's face based on the color information of mouth and a geometrical model of lips. This hybrid solution makes our method more tolerant to noise and artefacts in the image. The algorithm works in natural condition and experiments revealed that our lip POI localization approach for lip-reading purpose is possible using the proposed approach.

Actually several domains 'general public' are concerned by the utility of visual speech information such as e-learning, Tele-assistance, Human-Machine interaction, etc. The visual information helpfulness is more imperative among people with special needs. We can imagine for example, a dependant people ordered his machine with an easy lip movement or by a simple syllable pronunciation. More than, hard of hearing people normally compensate for their hearing problems by lip-reading as well as listening to the person they are talking to. Therefore, it's very important to create an automatic lip-reading system that resolve partially people hearing problem. We presents in this paper a new hybrid approach named ALiFE to automatically localize lipfeature points in the speaker's face and to carry out a spatial-temporal tracking of these points. ALiFE prototype is evaluated with a multiple speakers under natural conditions. In order to approve our lipfeature extraction approach, we have created a specific audio-visual corpus. The final results show the diferent configuration of the mouth through visemes. Later on these visemes will be associated to relatively precise physical measures. © 2006 IEEE.

In recent year, lip-reading systems have received a great attention, since it plays an important role in human communication with computer especially for hearing impaired or elderly people. The need for an automatic lip-reading system is ever increasing. Today, extraction and reliable analysis of facial movements make up an important part in many multimedia systems such as videoconference, low communication systems, lip- reading systems. We can imagine, for example, a dependent person ordering a machine with an easy lip movement or by a simple syllable pronunciation. We present in this paper a new approach for lip localization and feature extraction in a speaker's face. The extracted visual information is then classified in order to recognize the uttered viseme (visual phoneme). To check our system performance we have developed our Automatic Lip Feature Extraction prototype (ALiFE). Experiments revealed that our system recognizes 70.95 % of French digits uttered under natural conditions.

Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease ranked second after Alzheimer’s disease. It affects the central nervous system and causes a progressive and irreversible loss of neurons in the dopaminergic system, that insidiously leads to cognitive, emotional and language disorders. But until day there is no specific medication for this disease, the drug treatments that exist are purely symptomatic, that’s what encourages researchers to consider non-drug techniques. Among these techniques, speech processing becomes a relevant and innovative field of investigation and the use of machine-learning algorithms that provide promising results in the distinction between PD and healthy people. Otherwise many other factors such as feature extraction, number of feature, type of features and the classifiers used they all influence on the prediction accuracy evaluation. The aim of this study is to show the importance of this last factor, a model is suggested which include feature extraction from 3 types of features (acoustic, prosodic and phonetic) and classification is achieved using several machine learning classifiers and the results show that the proposed model can be highly recommended for classifying PD in healthy individuals with an accuracy of 99.50% obtained by Support Vector Machine (SVM). © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.

Semantic relatedness between terms plays an important role in many applications, such as information retrieval, in order to disambiguate document content. This latter is generally studied among pairs of terms and is usually presented in a non-linear way. This paper presents a new statistical method for detecting relationships between terms called Least Square Mehod which defines these relations linear and between a set of terms. The evaluation of the proposed method has led to optimal results with low error rate and meaningful relationships. Experimental results show that the use of these relationships in query expansion process improves the retrieval results.

The ubiquitous computing also called pervasive computing regroups the characteristic of mobile computing and the technique of context-awareness that are flexible, adaptable, and capable of acting autonomously on behalf of users. The goal of the semantic web, also known as a third generation, is to improve the web service research, discovery, selection, composition and integration. The pervasive systems correspond to a complete communication framework which allows the communicating objects to recognize and locate automatically. The pervasive system tasks are permitted by the semantic web services. The main interest of our research is to propose an adaptation framework of the application to the pervasive system based on semantic web services. In this paper, we present a part of our research work which represents the description of an OWL-S ontology extension to describe the pervasive system. This extension symbolizes the first level of data description in our pervasive system adaptation. © 2013 IADIS.

Social network websites are mainly constructed around the notion of user identities, as set up on the bases of their profiles, and online generated contents such as texts, videos, photos. Still, while some profiles gain an important position in the network, others do not. Similarly, some online generated contents appear to gain a great deal of attention from the part of users, whereas others are completely ignored. In this context, the notion of profile and online content related popularity has come to the forefront. Additionally, several studies turn out to be focused on the area of popularity associated analysis and prediction. Noteworthy, however, is that the popularity evaluative metrics prove to vary from a social network to another. In this respect, the present work is conceived to deal with such challenges through an advanced proposal whereby a unified presentation of popularity metrics related to each social entity, across several social networks, is put forward. Accordingly, a hierarchical structure of popularity metrics, as enhanced with a particular RDF presentation, is suggested, along with a brief summary of wide range of methods used to analyze such entities related popularities. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Transducers namely transducer cascades are used in several NLP-applications such as Arabic named entity recognition (ANER). To experiment and evaluate an ANER process, a weight coverage corpus is necessary. In this paper, we propose an ANER method based on transducer cascade. The proposed transducer cascade is generated with the CasSys tool integrated in Unitex linguistic platform. The experimentation of our method is done on a Wikipedia corpus. The Wikipedia text format is obtained with Kiwix tool. The experiment results are satisfactory based on calculated measures.
