The revolution in web world led to increasing users' needs, demands and expectations. By the time, those needs developed starting from ordinary static pages, moving on to fully dynamic ones and reaching the need for services and applications to be available on the web!.. Those demands changed the perspective of our web today to what's said to be a cloud of computing that aims mainly to provide applications as services for web user. As time goes by, applications were just not enough;users needed their applications and data available anytime, anywhere. For these reasons, traditional operating system functionality was needed to be provided as a service that integrates several applications together with user's data. In this paper we present the detailed description, implementation and evaluation of SEWOS [1]- a semantically enhanced web operating system- that provides the feel, look and mimic traditional desktop applications using desktop metaphor.

Nanotechnology has become extremely important in enhancing the potential of many applications. Carbon-nanotubes (CNTs) have been recently become the most promising functional materials in Nanocomposites. They have been extensively focused on over the past few years due to their unique structural features, amazing properties, and for their potential technological applications. The purpose of this paper is to conduct a parametric study to investigate the effect of the relevant different parameters that affect the CNTs yield rate, structure, and quality during their production in lab, using the submerged DC arc in de-ionized water technique. The set-up constructed specially for this purpose has been described. Effect of the current potential and intensity, the purity of the graphitic source, and the combination of the electrodes sizes on the yield rate of CNTs has been studied. 60A-24v DC current through1mm gap, 99.9 % pure graphite electrodes of diameters of 3mm for the anode against 12 mm for the cathode, have been found to produce the highest CNTs yield rate of 20 g/hr within the lab experimental limitations. The produced carbon nanotubes have then been investigated using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) for the sake of capturing and visualizing the CNTs growth stages during synthesis.

In this paper, a wavelet-based decomposition level with scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) is proposed to solve the problem of image registration. At the highest wavelet-based pyramid level, mutual-information (MI) based registration is applied and rough similarity (linear conformal) transformation parameters are achieved. At the first wavelet-based decomposition level, SIFT-based registration technique is utilized with the aid of rough parameters obtained. To remove outliers automatically a RANdom Sample And Consensus (RANSAC) algorithm is applied. A comparison between proposed technique with three registration approaches is achieved: cross-correlation based registration, point mapping image registration, and hybrid registration technique using MI and SIFT in the spatial domain. The quality of the registration process was measured using the following criteria: normalized cross-correlation coefficient (NCCC) and percentage relative root mean square error (PRRMSE). The application of the proposed technique to dental panoramic X-ray images has shown that wavelet-based hybrid approach combining MI and SIFT operator achieves high performance registration results and can be used efficiently for registration of X-ray images.

A corporate network consists of many individual network security components. Firewall, active directory, and IDS are some examples of these components. Each network security component has its own high level security policy which is translated into low level security mechanisms. There is a wide gap between high level and low level representation of security policy making enforcement of high level security policy faces some essential difficulties. Consistency, verification, and maintenance are the major ones of these difficulties. One approach to overcome these difficulties is to present security policy in an intermediate level and then automate the translation of the intermediate level security policy into low level security mechanisms. Extended Organization Based Access control (EOrBAC) model is valuable step towards introducing this intermediate level. One of the major advantages of EOrBAC is its ability to model most network security components. This paper extends the work of EOrBAC by applying its concept on active directory network security component. Also, an EOrBAC based network security management toolkit is developed to realize this approach.
