To find an optimal elimination ordering for Bayesian networks, a multi-heuristic-based ant colony system named MHC-HS-ACS is proposed. MHC-HS-ACS uses a set of heuristics to guide the ants to search solutions. The heuristic set can evolve with the searching procedure in an adaptive way. MHC-HS-ACS also utilizes a heuristic-based local search to accelerate its convergence. computational experiments show that MHC-HS-ACS can find very high quality solutions. © 2010 IEEE.

Fabric pattern is a folk art of artificial fabrics pattern design which includes apparels (known as clothes and hats), and crafts (known as carpets and tapestries). Although image processing, information retrieval and data mining have made a large impact on many human endeavors, they never had an impact on the study of the fabric image. In this paper we will present the reasons for this, and introduce a novel similarity measure and algorithm (Pattern Similarity Measuring Algorithm (PSMA)) which allows efficient data mining for large collections of fabric image. PSMA, the effectiveness of which is proved be experiment test, is an image similarity measurement algorithm that achieves the machine-learning based theory via the gradient descent algorithm with multidimensional linear regression. A novel dynamic time delay neural network is proposed for ultrasonic motors identification and control in this paper. By introducing time delay neurons, the neural network identifier and controller of ultrasonic motors are constructed. Both of them are trained online by using an improved back-propagation algorithm. The usefulness and validity of the presented algorithm is examined by the experiments. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2006.

The deconvolution of infiltrating immune cells and stromal cells from complex tumor tissues is significant for studying the impact of these cells on tumor development, as well as assisting cancer therapies. Integrating cell-specific marker genes from several references, we put forward an AutoEncoder-based matrix factorization method to estimate the cell proportion in heterogeneous samples. The proportion predicted by our method achieved over 0.95 Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC) with the ground truth. Moreover, through analyzing association between cell proportion of tumor tissues and clinical information of the tumor patients, we found that the proportion of cancer-associated fibroblast (CAF) gradually increased with the progress of tumor, and the proportion of B cell in tissues was significantly related to the five-year survival rate of tumor patients.

A huge amount of microarray datasets are produced with big number of genes and small samples. Feature selection methods have become a very sharp tool to select the gene signatures from the whole gene set. In recent years, researchers are concerned much about the datasets containing samples of cancer as well as corresponding control tissues. However, few feature selection methods consider the effect of paired samples. In this article, we propose a new feature selection method for paired microarray datasets based on the original paired t-test approach. We apply on the paired datasets across six common cancer types. Through comparison with some widely used methods on the performance of prediction power, stability of gene lists and functional stability, our method shows excellent performance. The proposed method has good effectiveness, stability and consistency, which enables the method to be applicative to feature selection for paired microarray expression data analysis.

An improved artificial immune algorithm with a dynamic threshold is presented. The calculation for the affinity function in the real-valued coding artificial immune algorithm is modified through considering the antibody＇s fitness and setting the dynamic threshold value. Numerical experiments show that compared with the genetic algorithm and the originally real-valued coding artificial immune algorithm, the improved algorithm possesses high speed of convergence and good performance for preventing premature convergence.

The use of computational-intelligence-based techniques in the optimization of agent initial positions in land combat simulations is studied. A novel method for the reduction of support vectors in the support vector machine (SVM) is presented. The optimization on the width of the Gaussian kernel function and the combination of the SVM with the radial basis function neural network are performed in the proposed method. Simulation results show that the proposed method can improve the running efficiency drastically compared with that using the traditional SVM with the same precision. We also summarize and present some experiences and trends in the study on the optimization problem in land combat simulation.

Although deep neural networks (DNNs) play important roles in many fields, the architecture design of DNNs can be challenging due to the difficulty of input data representation, the huge number of parameters and the complex layer relationships. To overcome the obstacles of architecture design, we developed a new method to generate the optimal structure of DNNs, named Evolutionary Strategy-based Architecture Evolution (ESAE), consisting of a bi-level representation and a probability distribution learning approach. The bi-level representation encodes architectures in the gene and parameter levels. The probability distribution learning approach ensures the efficient convergence of the architecture searching process. By using Fashion-MNIST and CIFAR-10, the effectiveness of the proposed ESAS is verified. The evolved DNNs, starting from a trivial initial architecture with one single convolutional layer, achieved the accuracies of 94.48% and 93.49% on Fashion-MNIST and CIFAR-10, respectively, and require remarkably less hardware costs in terms of GPUs and running time, compared with the existing state-of-the-art manual screwed architectures. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Identification of transcription factor binding sites from the upstream regions of genes is a highly important and unsolved problem. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for using evolutionary algorithm to solve this challenging issue. Under this framework, we use two prevalent evolutionary algorithms: genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) to find unknown sites in a collection of relatively long intergenic sequences that are suspected of being bound by the same factor. This paper represents binding sites motif to position weight matrix (PWM) and introduces how to code PWM to genome for GA and how to code it to particle for PSO. We apply these two algorithms to 5 different yeast saccharomyces cerevisiae transcription factor binding sites and CRP binding sites. The results on saccharomyces cerevisiae show that it can find the correct binding sites motifs, and the result on CRP shows that these two algorithms can achieve more accuracy than MEME and Gibbs sampler

The Traditional Chinese Medicine's ancient literature recorded the massive medical theories and abundant medical experiences. To better understand and utilize, the knowledge from the literature, the Acupuncture and Tuina knowledge Graph is proposed in this paper. Meanwhile, a deep learning network is established for acupuncture and tuina-related entity recognition and entity-relationship extraction. Finally, the trained network is able to reach an 82%+ F1-score for NER and 70%+ F1-score for relationship extraction. © 2021 IEEE.
