The cloud platform provides abundant resources and services for users. More and more mobile users began to use the cloud services. They have higher real-time demands on service. The size of traditional virtual machine (VM) operating system is basically large. It will take many resources in deployment and communication process, and always affect the real-time performance of system. To reduce communication overhead and improve deployment speed of VMs, this paper proposes an approach of customized VM image with LFS. LFS can reduce the size of VM image efficiently and enable flexible customization of the VM image by incremental customization. The experimental results show us that the size of VM image generated by the proposed method is smaller than the one generated by kernel tailoring technology in system overhead. Meanwhile it is also faster in running speed.

In this paper, a modified particle swarm optimization(MPSO) algorithm is proposed to solve the reliability redundancy optimization problem. This algorithm modifies the strategy of generating new position of particles. For each generation solution, the flight velocity of particles is removed. Whereas the new position of each particle is generated by using difference strategy. Moreover, an adaptive parameter is used to ensure diversity of feasible solutions. Experimental results on four benchmark problems demonstrate that the proposed MPSO has better robustness, effectiveness and efficiency than other algorithms reported in literatures for solving the reliability redundancy optimization problem.

The paper aims at tackling the problem of image fusion for panchromatic CT and multispectral CBF images. We proposed a fusion algorithm based on Intensity-hue-saturation (IHS) transform and Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) in the paper. We use different fusion rules for different parts of the images. The area energy is adopted to fuse the high frequency parts of the original images. While, for the low frequency parts, weighted averaging is applied. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is not only competent for retaining the spatial resolution of the panchromatic image, but also solves the problem of spectral distortions.

Essential proteins are crucial to cellular survival and development. Traditionally, essential proteins are identified by knock-out experiments, which are expensive and often fatal to the target organisms. Regarding this, an important approach to essential protein identification is through computational prediction. In this research, we present a novel computational method, Integrated Edge Weights (IEW), to innovatively predict proteins' essentiality based on essential protein-protein interactions. The experimental results on all three organisms: Saccharomyces cere-visiae (Yeast), Escherichia coli (E. coli), and Caenorhabditis ele-gans (C. elegans) show that IEW achieves better performance than the state-of-the-art methods in terms of precision-recall. Furthermore, we have demonstrated that the highly-ranked protein-protein interactions predicted by our approach tend to be biologically significant in Yeast, E. coli, and C. elegans protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks.

Identifying influential nodes is of theoretical significance in network immunization which is one of important methods to prevent virus propagation through protecting the influential nodes in a network. Lots of methods have been proposed to find these influential nodes based on the topological characteristics of a network (e.g., degree, betweenness or K-shell). Whereas due to the diversity of network topologies, these methods are not always effective in identifying influential nodes in any benchmark networks. We combine the advantages of existing methods based on attribute ranking and propose a universal ranking method, namely MAF (Multiple Attribute Fusion), to identify influential nodes from a complex network. We compare the efficiency of our proposed method with existing immunization strategies in different types of networks. Simulation results in the interactive email model show that the immunized nodes selected by MAF can restrain virus propagation effectively.

The extensions for logic-based knowledge bases with integrity constraints are rather popular. We put forward an alternative criteria for analysis of integrity constraints in Web ontology language (OWL) ontology under the closed world assumption. According to this criteria, grounded circumscription is applied to define integrity constraints in OWL ontology and the satisfaction of the integrity constraints by minimizing extensions of the predicates in integrity con- straints. According to the semantics of integrity constraints, we provide a modified tableau algorithm which is sound and complete for deciding the consistency of an extended ontol- ogy. Finally, the integrity constraint validation is converted into the corresponding consistency of the extended ontology. Comparing our approach with existing integrity constraint validation approaches, we show that the results of our approach are more in accordance with user requirements than other approaches in certain cases.
