The development of fundus imaging techniques has greatly supported the diagnosis of ophthalmic *** advancements, poor imaging quality, such as artifacts or insufficient illumination, poses challenges for disease *** clinical, it is often difficult to obtain paired data for fundus image enhancement. High-fidelity kinship face synthesis has many potential applications, such as kinship verification, missing child identification, and social media analysis. However, it is challenging to synthesize high-quality descendant faces with genetic relations due to the lack of large-scale, high-quality annotated kinship data. This paper proposes RFG (Region-level Facial Gene) extraction framework to address this issue. We propose to use IGE (Image-based Gene Encoder), LGE (Latent-based Gene Encoder) and Gene Decoder to learn the RFGs of a given face image, and the relationships between RFGs and the latent space of Style-GAN2. As cycle-like losses are designed to measure the $\mathcal{L}_data$ distances between the output of Gene Decoder and image encoder, and that between the output of LGE and IGE, only face images are required to train our framework, i.e. no paired kinship face data is required. Based upon the proposed RFGs, a crossover and mutation module is further designed to inherit the facial parts of parents. A Gene Pool has also been used to introduce the variations into the mutation of RFGs. The diversity of the faces of descendants can thus be significantly increased. Qualitative, quantitative, and subjective experiments on FIW, TSKinFace, and FF-databases clearly show that the quality and diversity of kinship faces generated by our approach are much better than the existing state-of-the-art methods.

The design of the composition for two-phase superalloys of γ/γ' has always been key to achieving a breakthrough in their mechanical performance. However, the underlying mechanism of the anti-site defects in γ' precipitates that severely affect stability and performance have rarely been explored. The present work therefore specifically investigated the structural stability and mechanical properties of strictly stoichiometric and off-stoichiometric γ'-Co3(Al, Nb) phases by using the first-principles calculations. The results show that the change in the Al/Nb ratios in the compounds could induce the instability of the L12 structure, while an increase of Nb atoms leads to compounds with predominantly covalent bonds exhibiting stronger mechanical properties. After evaluating the Gibbs free energy of these γ'-Co3(Al, Nb) phases at finite temperature, it is found that Co29Al2Nb1 and Co29Al1Nb2 compounds with anti-site defects can be thermodynamically stable at greater than 710 and 905 K, respectively. Accordingly, Co-10Al-2Nb and Co-2.5Al-3Nb alloys were successfully prepared experimentally, further confirming that the γ'-Co3(Al, Nb) phase with anti-site defects can precipitate preferentially and remain stable during the 168 h annealing treatment. © 2023, The Authors. Recent years have witnessed a booming increase of patent applications, which provides an open chance for revealing the inner law of innovation, but in the meantime, puts forward higher requirements on patent mining techniques. Considering that patent mining highly relies on patent document analysis, this paper makes a focused study on constructing a technology portrait for each patent, i.e., to recognize technical phrases concerned in it, which can summarize and represent patents from a technology angle. To this end, we first give a clear and detailed description about technical phrases in patents based on various prior works and analyses. Then, combining characteristics of technical phrases and multi-level structures of patent documents, we develop an Unsupervised Multi-level Technical Phrase Extraction (UMTPE) model. Particularly, a novel evaluation metric called Information Retrieval Efficiency (IRE) is designed to evaluate the extracted phrases from a new perspective, which greatly supplements traditional metrics like Precision and Recall. Finally, extensive experiments on real-world patent data show the effectiveness of our UMTPE model.

This paper investigates an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) enabled multiuser integrated sensing and communications (ISAC) system, which consists of one multi-antenna base station (BS), one IRS, multiple single-antenna communication users (CUs), and one target at the non-line-of-sight (NLoS) region of the BS. The IRS is deployed to not only assist the communication from the BS to the CUs, but also enable the BS’s NLoS target sensing based on the echo signals from the BS-IRS-target-IRS-BS link. We consider two types of targets, namely the extended and point targets, for which the BS aims to estimate the complete target response matrix and the target direction-of-arrival (DoA) with respect to the IRS, respectively. To provide full degrees of freedom for sensing, we consider that the BS sends dedicated sensing signals in addition to the communication signals. Accordingly, we model two types of CU receivers, namely Type-I and Type-II CU receivers, which do not have and have the capability of canceling the interference from the sensing signals, respectively. Under each setup, we jointly optimize the transmit beamforming at the BS and the reflective beamforming at the IRS to minimize the Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) for target estimation, subject to the minimum signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) constraints at the CUs and the maximum transmit power constraint at the BS. Alternating current (AC) electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was employed to synthesize polypyrrole (PPy) electrochromic films on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) transparent conductive glasses. When depositing the PPy films, a fixed initial voltage was 700 mV and AC of different amplitudes was applied. The influence of AC voltage amplitude on the structure and electrochromic performance of PPy films was investigated. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation reveals that the PPy films prepared under AC are composed of uniform-distributed nanospheres when the AC amplitude is below 400 mV, which is different from the submicron structure displayed by PPy films prepared under direct current (DC). This kind of nanospherical structure is helpful to the ion transport, resulting in improved electrochromic properties of the PPy films prepared under AC compared with the PPy film prepared under DC. In particular, the PPy film prepared under 100 mV amplitude AC shows ideal electrochromic properties, with an ion diffusion coefficient of 8.13 × 10−10 cm2·s-1, a coloring efficiency of 137.4 cm2·C-1, quick coloration and bleaching switching times of 5.0 s and 6.5 s, respectively, and retains 65.7 % of its optical modulation after 100 cycles. © 2023, The Authors. Softening modes in phonon dispersion are often indications of intriguing physical phenomena such as phase transition and exotic thermal conductance. The promising thermoelectric material Mg3Sb2 and its allomerisms including CaZn2Sb2, SrZn2Sb2, etc. are investigated for phonon dispersion variation in this study using density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Two different soft transverse acoustic (TA) modes are present in Mg3Sb2, one at the A point along the out-of-plane direction and the other at the in-plane M point with a lower frequency. In contrast, the in-plane TA modes of CaZn2Sb2 and SrZn2Sb2 exhibit much higher in energy, but they both have extremely soft TA modes at the A point instead. Here, we construct an oscillator model based on the projected interatomic force constant tensor along vibrational directions. Our results suggest that the disappearing shear interaction of the near-neighbor bond, tilted Mg-Sb plays a large role in the abnormally soft in-plane TA mode in Mg3Sb2. In contrast, the covalent vertical Zn-Sb bonds in CaZn2Sb2 and SrZn2Sb2 have also negligible shear interactions. In all cases, the "missing" nearest-neighbor interaction, combined with the weak next-neighbor interaction and repulsive long-range interaction result in the observed low-energy TA modes. In general, we expect such in-depth analyses on the origin of these abnormally soft phonon modes in the Mg3Sb2 allomerisms would provide insights into seeking high-performance thermoelectric materials in the rich family of the Zintl phase compounds. © 2023, The Authors. Parupeneus indicus, a species in the family Mullidae, inhabits the coastal and inner lagoon reefs of the Indian and Pacific oceans. The mitochondrial genome ofP. indicusis 16,566 base pairs in length and contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, two ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, and a D-loop control region. The overall base composition is 26.58% A, 24.83% T, 30.39% C, and 18.19% G, indicating an AT-rich profile (51.41%). Phylogenetic analysis based on the 13 PCGs revealed a close evolutionary relationship betweenP. indicusandP. barberinus. The data obtained in this study represent a valuable mitogenomic resource for population studies in the family Mullidae and will contribute to gaining a better understanding of the conservation genetics and environmental DNA of these fish.

Integrated Optimization of Maintenance Window and Train Timetable: An Innovation Modeling Approach and Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers Methods

Train timetable plays an important role in improving passenger service and transportation efficiency. The arrangement of the maintenance window directly affects the quality of maintenance, which interacts with the train timetable and constrains each other. This paper studies the integrated optimization of the maintenance window and train timetable. We abstract creatively the occupation of track capacity by maintenance activity as arc and construct the integrated time-space network of maintenance activities and trains. The headway constraints of different types of arcs are determined by the influences of trains and maintenances, and the original model is converted into a multi-commodity network flow model containing multiple types of arcs. Then we decomposed the problem into two sub-problems: (i) the arrangement of major maintenance activities;(ii) the integrated optimization of the maintenance window and train timetable for fixed maintenance activities. The heuristic algorithms based on VNS and ADMM framework were designed to solve the sub-problems, respectively. The practical case with the data of the Wuhan-Guangzhou Railway is analyzed. The results show that, in the scenario where the speed of the fast and slow trains is 160km/h and 120km/h, respectively, compared with common forms of the maintenance window, the optimized train operation cost is reduced by 21.7% with the completion of all maintenance activities. © 2022, The Authors.
