There are some defects on the surface of steel that are difficult to detect, so we propose an improved algorithm based on YOLOv8 for detecting defects that are difficult to be detected. This improvement includes the introduction of an SPD module to minimize the problem of information loss due to downsampling;the addition of a small object detection head combined with EMA attention to further enhance the detection capabilities for small targets;the use of BiFPN to replace the original PANet, applying different weights to different features to strengthen feature fusion. Experiments were conducted on the NEU-DET dataset, and the algorithm improved mAP to 80.2%, an improvement of 3.9% over the baseline model. © 2024 IEEE.

Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has high infection rate, leading to rapid spread worldwide. Computed tomography (CT) imaging technology is one of the important COVID-19 detection ways and it could provide the physicians diagnosis with major basis. To address the problems that traditional convolutional neural network (CNN) could not capture the spatial information relationship between different features and the shortcoming of original Capsule Network extracting insufficient depth features, this paper proposes a novel optimized residual capsule COVID-19 detection model, named as CO-RCNet and achieves the classification for COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 CT chest scanning images. To demonstrate the advantages and effectiveness of our CO-RCNet model, we perform the ablation experiments to compare with the state-of-the-art COVID-19 detection approaches. The results shows that our method has the highest evaluation metrics and a detection accuracy of 0.9940. That is to say, our method has the best performance. Therefore, the proposed CO-RCNet model can be utilized as the effective COVID-19 detection tool. © 2023 ACM.

In addressing issues like an excessive number of network parameters and the loss of fine texture details in image super-resolution reconstruction approaches based on diffusion models, this passage introduces a novel image super-resolution model (FELSDiff). This model relies on the fusion of diffusion models, feature extraction, and latent space. FELSDiff utilizes a Pre-trained CNN for initial super-resolution to extract the primary low-band features and part high-band features of the image. The preliminary super-resolved image is then concatenated as a condition to this model. We introduce a cross-attention mechanism guided by the high-band features of the preliminary super-resolved image to enhance the network's feature extraction capability and obtain more effective features. In the U-Net structure, we incorporate a latent space strategy, enabling the model's training and inference processes to be conducted in the latent space, thereby reducing the number of network parameters. Experimental results on multiple standard datasets indicate that this method outperforms other advanced methods overall. © 2024 IEEE.

The interfaces between in-situ Al3Ti particles and magnesium(Mg)matrix are crucial role in highperformance titanium(Ti)reinforced AZ31 ***,the interfaces between Al3Ti particles and the Mg matrix are fabricated and investigated using advanced characterization tools and first-principles *** orientation relationship(OR)and atomic interface structure between the Al_(3)Ti particles and matrix are characterized using a high-resolution transmission electron *** OR is determined to be(1010)Mg//(001)Al3Ti;[1213]Mg//[100]*** on the characterized OR,the interface properties(including atomic structure,work of adhesion,interface energy,and fracture mechanism)are investigated using first-principles *** relaxed interface structure indicates that the TiAl-terminated bridge site configurations(MT1)and hollow site configurations(HCP1)are unstable and would convert into other bridge site configurations(MT).Furthermore,the work of adhesion and interface energy suggests that Al-terminated hollow site configurations(HCP)and bridge site configurations(MT)are more stable than other *** addition,the calculations of work of fracture show that fracture of the interfaces with Al-MT1,Al-HCP,and TiAl-MT configurations may initiate from bulk Mg *** findings may help to understand and tailor the deformation mechanisms and mechanical properties of Ti-reinforced Mg alloys.

When matching similarity among pedestrians in images, pedestrian re-identification algorithms are often disturbed by occlusions. A typical tactic is to improve the robustness of occlusion features in the model. However, this approach neglects the noise introduced by other pedestrians in the image, leading to limited learning of relevant information between images. To address these issues, this paper introduces a pedestrian re-identification model that leverages perception-enhanced and attention mechanisms. By enhancing the perception of non-pedestrian noise and erasing non-pedestrian features, we then employ a cross-attention mechanism to subtly embed global and local features for finer feature recognition. Finally, through context attention, we learn the interaction between pedestrian images to improve re-identification accuracy. Results from studies performed on the Market-1501, CUHK03-D, and Duke-ReID datasets indicate that the suggested model surpasses leading contemporary models regarding Rank-1 scores and mean Average Precision (mAP), while maintaining good robustness. © 2024 IEEE.

Deep learning-based automatic patient-specific quality assurance (PSQA) alleviates medical resource pressure and ensures the safety of patient treatment plans by predicting the actual dosage difference distribution or metrics. However, deep learning is often affected by extremely unbalanced data distributions, and in clinical practice, the number of normal plans is always much larger than that of abnormal plans. On the other hand, the distribution of patients' lesion sites could be more balanced. The performance of models is often seriously biased in these subgroups, posing a challenge to the reliability of deep learning in the clinical application of PSQA. In this work, we propose a subgroup-adaptive network to address the problem of subgroup drift in PSQA. Our experiments achieved a state-of-the-art (SOTA) MAE of 0.69. Our proposed work can significantly improve the reliability of deep learning in the practical clinical application of PSQA. © 2023 IEEE.

In high-density crowd, a unique visual motion effect called stop-and-go wave occurs, which could evolve to trampling and compression incidents. However, few computational models have been reported for stop-and-go wave perception form the angle of computer vision. On the bases of the neural structures of the locusts’ vision systems and the frequency resonance properties of the interneuronal (INs) neurons in locust’s brains, this paper investigates a bio-inspired visual neural network (sgWPNN) for stop-and-go wave perception in high-density crowd scenes. The proposed sgWPNN firstly visually stabilizes the image frames;and then converts the spatial intensity visual information to the frequency domain for extracting crowd’s motion cues;finally, sgWPNN output membrane potential impulses to identify the occurring of stop-and-go wave in the field of view. Videos filmed high-density crowd activities in two scenarios demonstrate the effectiveness of sgWPNN in the perception against to the unique stop-and-go wave effect in moving crowd scenes. This work discusses the biological inspired processing of dynamic visual information in crowd activity perception, which can provide some new ideas for crowd activity detection and behavior analysis. © 2025 SPIE.

Sequential Recommender Systems (SRS), leveraging the temporal information from users' behaviors, have noticeably improved user experience against traditional systems. However, these behaviors often follow long-tail distribution, making the systems biased towards popular items (i.e., popularity bias). Moreover, popularity bias would amplify the neglect of long-tail recommendations, thereby sharpening the long-tail problem. Previous researches usually address these challenges independently, focusing on reducing the over-recommendation of popular items or enhancing the representation quality of tail items. Indeed, it is possible to incorporate their merits to achieve the best of both worlds. Thus, we propose a novel and unified framework, named Collaborative Solution to Long tailed problem and Popularity bias (CSLP), to tackle both the long-tail problem and popularity bias simultaneously. To achieve this, we first introduce a representation enhancement module featuring dual generators to enhance user and item representations, particularly for those in the tail. On the other hand, a debiasing module incorporating an Inverse Propensity Score (IPS) with a clipping strategy is introduced to further alleviate the popularity bias. Specifically, this clipping strategy demonstrates a clear decrease in the original IPS method's variance, effectively improving the recommendation for stability and accuracy. Experiments on three widely-used datasets show CSLP's effectiveness in solving both issues. CSLP surpasses all baselines (traditional, popularity bias, and long-tail problem) in overall performance, significantly enhancing recommendation accuracy for both tail users and items, and achieving a more balanced ratio of recommendations between popular and tail items. Software vulnerabilities are a major cyber threat and it is important to detect them. One important approach to detecting vulnerabilities is to use deep learning while treating a program function as a whole, known as function-level vulnerability detectors. However, the limitation of this approach is not understood. In this paper, we investigate its limitation in detecting one class of vulnerabilities known as inter-procedural vulnerabilities, where the to-be-patched statements and the vulnerability-triggering statements belong to different functions. For this purpose, we create the first Inter -Procedural Vulnerability dataset (InterPVD) based on C/C++ open-source software, and we propose a tool dubbed VulTrigger for identifying vulnerability-triggering statements across functions. Experimental results show that VulTrigger can effectively identify vulnerability-triggering statements and inter-procedural vulnerabilities. Our findings include: (i) inter-procedural vulnerabilities are prevalent with an average of 2.8 inter-procedural layers;and (ii) function-level vulner-ability detectors are much less effective in detecting to-be-patched functions of inter-procedural vulnerabilities than detecting their counterparts of intra-procedural vulnerabilities. © 2024 ACM.
