The hydrolysis of DNA serves as the foundational principle for gene engineering that enable precise gene cleavage at the molecular level. This process typically occurs in biological nucleases, which exhibit nucleobase-selective and catalytic hydrolysis capabilities rarely replicated in abiotic nanomaterials. Here, we demonstrate that molybdenum-terminated (Mo-terminated) edges of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) possess the unique ability to abstract a proton (H+) from water molecules, thereby facilitating catalytic hydrolysis reactions that cleave the phosphodiester bonds in DNA through the action of hydroxide ions. The enhanced proton absorption at Mo-terminated edges of MoS2 significantly reduces the activation energy required for the DNA hydrolysis reaction. Furthermore, the favorable interaction between the Mo-terminated edges and thymine nucleobases promotes both charge transfer and P-O bond cleavage, enabling targeted DNA hydrolysis at 'TTTTTTT' sequences under dark conditions. This discovery underscores the potential of MoS2 as a stable, efficient nanosystem for precise genetic editing, heralding advanced applications in the field of gene engineering. © 2025 The Author(s)

This study reports on the fabrication and characterization of a copper oxide (CuO)-based photoactive cell. Copper was thermally evaporated onto two substrates and post-treated using chemical and thermal treatments to obtain different semiconducting types of CuO. Absorption measurements were conducted to obtain the bandgaps of CuO, which were found to be 1.51 eV and 1.21 eV, for the chemically and thermally treated CuO, respectively. Finally, a chronoamperometry test was conducted to confirm the photoresponse of the cell, which showed a doubling of output current values under light conditions compared to dark conditions.

Purpose: To develop a teleoperation system for forest harvesters using images from the work area. Methods: In a CPE (customer premises equipment) environment, both the control command to operate a forest harvester and images to monitor the work area are transmitted using 5.8 GHz Wi-Fi. The control command is sent to the harvester by wirelessly connecting CAN (controller area network) buses in the harvester and remote control station. The images are sent to the operator through video streaming over Wi-Fi. To evaluate the feasibility of the proposed teleoperation system, the delays for transmitting control commands and images are measured in various environments such as open space, a space with obstacles, and a forest. Results: The total delay comprised the wireless communication delay and the time required to properly format the data for transmission over Wi-Fi. The delay of CAN-to-Ethernet and Ethernet-to-CAN conversion for transmitting CAN bus data and the delay due to the encoding/decoding of transmitted images were 0.213 and 119.457 ms, respectively. The wireless communication delay was maximum 3.506 ms. Provided that the reception sensitivity did not exceed the capability of the receiving antenna, the data loss did not occur. A field test conducted over 350 m on a relatively flat surface showed that the operator could suitably teleoperate all the harvester actuators and functions by using joysticks and switches under video guidance. Conclusion: A teleoperation system was developed for a forest harvester. The system consists of control command transmission and image transmission over Wi-Fi CPE. The delay between the environment recognition by the operator and actuator control was acceptable according to the operator’s assessment and various studies. © 2021, The Korean Society for Agricultural Machinery.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has altered many fields because it combines so entirety. But likely that these instruments are so smooth to hack, it has still created plenty safety worries. To hold Wi-Fi IoT networks cautious, Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS) are very main. They look for and fix safety dents. This research focuses on Machine Learning (ML) systems and looks at the various types of IDPS for Wi-Fi IoT networks. There is plenty research on intrusion detection systems (IDS) over the internet of things (IoT) that is look at in this place study. It displays by virtue of what well differing algorithms, containing neural networks, decision trees, random forests, and Support Vector Machines (SVM), act. It further checks machine learning-based IoT safety models, like Support Vector Clustering (SVC) in addition to convolutional neural networks (CNNs), in consideration of label and stop hacking risks in IoT backgrounds. Reviewing secondary evidence and secondary data is part of the study process. These are used to find the basic IDPS for Wireless IoT Networks styles and questions. This research explains that intrusion detection systems (IDS) are essential for consistency the Internet of Things cautious, what plans established machine learning can help find and stop threats more effectively. This study has plenty useful information for scientists and experts that can help them devise better IDPS remedies for Wireless IoT Networks.

The lungs are one of the organs of the body that are responsible for the human respiratory process and are very susceptible to dangerous diseases. For this reason, early detection and diagnosis of lung organs is needed, one of which is through examination of Chest X-Ray (CXR) images. Examination of the results of CXR images is still done manually by doctors and radiologists, this requires time and high accuracy. To facilitate the examination, it is necessary to image quality enhancement in order to get better image quality results so as to produce an accurate diagnosis. The initial stage in this research is to apply the contour improvement technique to the image using Morphology Opening, and followed by noise reduction using Median Filter and Gaussian filter. The results of the two methods of noise reduction are compared with the results of image quality in order to find out the best method that can be applied. The implementation of image quality enhancement results was measured quantitatively using Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), Mean Square Error (MSE), and Structural Similarity Index Metrics (SSIM). In the Morphology Opening and Median Filter methods, the values obtained are 39.187, 22.252, and 0.952, respectively. Meanwhile, the Morphology Opening and Gaussian Filter methods obtained values of 38.717, 23.917 and 0.956. Based on these results, it can be concluded that both methods are able to improve image quality well.

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that instantly merges digital pictures with the real scene. The perspective near-eye display is a key module of AR, through which computer-generated pictures or videos can be displayed in the existing environment. The purpose of this research is to establish the system structure of an augmented reality near-eye display device and to design the off-axis two-piece reflective aspherical mirror. Because AR glasses are wearable and are worn close to the eyes, not only the optical performance of the display but also the clear vision of the user needs to be considered. In this study, an off-axis two-piece reflective aspherical mirror is used as the optical system of the AR for displaying the digital image. The micro-display is placed at the focal point of the optical system to form a digital image, and the horizontal movement of the micro-display along the optical axis is controlled by a precise displacement mechanism so that the patient with uncorrected myopia or hyperopia can see the digital picture and real scene. Because the right and left micro-displays move horizontally independently, the user can see the images on the AR device, which becomes the biggest feature of this study.

Increasing aquaculture cultivation produces large quantities of wastewater. If not handled properly, it can have negative impacts on the environment. Constructed wetlands (CWs) are one of the phytoremediation methods that can be applied to treat aquaculture effluent. This research was aimed at determining the performance of Cyperus rotundus in removing COD, BOD, TSS, turbidity, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, and phosphate from the batch CW system. Treatment was carried out for 30 days with variations in the number of plants (10, 15, and 20) and variations in media height (10, 12, and 14 cm). The result showed that aquaculture effluent contains high levels of organic compounds and nutrients, and C. rotundus can grow and thrive in 100% of aquaculture effluent. Besides that, the use of C. rotundus in CWs with the effect of numbers of plants and media height showed performance of COD, BOD, TSS, turbidity, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, and phosphate with 70, 79, 90, 96, 64, 82, 92, and 48% of removal efficacy, respectively. There was no negative impact observed on C. rotundus growth after exposure to aquaculture effluent, as indicated by the increase in wet weight, dry weight, and growth rate when compared to the control. Thus, adding aquaculture effluent to CWs planted with C. rotundus supports the growth and development of plants while also performing phytoremediation. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Tuna fishing in Indonesia is excessive and if left unchecked, some types of tuna will become extinct within 3-10 years. There is an urgent need to help MMAF for producing more accurate fish catches data. This paper proposed a system that utilizes computer vision, fuzzy logic and Global Positioning System (GPS) for supporting a sustainableIndonesian fishery by recognizing and measuring fish length, determine fish age and where is the catch location. It is necessary to study technical factors such as bait used, oceanographic conditions of fishing areas and skipjack tuna trade patterns (Katsuwonus pelamis) as well as other factors in Sulawesi Fisheries. Supporting data to study these technical factors need to be obtained so that it can be improved throughout the year as a skipjack fishing standard with weights taken by the skipjack weights. Therefore, drones and underwater drones with cameras with high-resolution video and images to be fed and processed by computer vision. These drones are operated via Huhate ships which are then used to test efficient technical factors as expected, can be used in determining the size, shape, and colour as well as the analysis of skipjack fish that are in the Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs or Rumpon) in order to manage the management of fisheries managed in Indonesia. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Knowledge of hand-woven motif recognition is only owned by the older generation, which has not been passed down to the younger generation. Moreover, computer technology can be used to support the recognition of traditional woven fabric motifs. The aim of this research is to conduct a literature review on hand-woven fabric motif recognition, with an emphasis on performance accuracy, techniques, and datasets utilized. This research included three distinct stages of systematic literature review (SLR): planning, execution, and reporting of findings. We found several datasets between 924,845 data and the number of classes between 3–25 class. Based on research result, we obtained several methods for hand-woven fabric motif recognition focused on performance examination. We recommended image pre-processing method, including Adaptive Filtering Denoising, Adaptive Wiener Filtering, Histogram Equalization, Gradient Pyramid (GP) Decomposition. Moreover, we suggested five feature extraction methods, including Radon Transform, Wavelet Transform, Locally Rotation Invariance Measure (LBP-ROR), Transform Invariant Low-Rank Textures (TILT) and Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG). For learning method, we recommend Fuzzy C-Mean (FCM), Convolutional neural network (CNN), Deep Neural Network (DNN), MobileNets, Inception-v3 and ResNet-50.
