The Langat River Basin in Malaysia is vulnerable to soil erosion risks because of its exposure to intensive land use activities and its topography,which primarily consists of steep slopes and mountainous ***,climate change frequently exposes this basin to drought,which negatively affects soil and water ***,recent studies have rarely shown how soil reacts to drought,such as soil ***,the purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between drought and soil erosion in the Langat River *** analyzed drought indices using Landsat 8 satellite images in November 2021,and created the normalized differential water index(NDWI)via Landsat 8 data to produce a drought *** used the revised universal soil loss equation(RUSLE)model to predict soil *** verified an association between the NDWI and soil erosion data using a correlation *** results revealed that the southern and northern regions of the study area experienced drought *** predicted an average annual soil erosion of approximately 58.11 t/(hm^(2)·a).Analysis of the association between the NDWI and soil erosion revealed a strong positive correlation,with a Pearson correlation coefficient of *** assumed that the slope length and steepness factor was the primary contributor to soil erosion in the study *** a result,these findings can help authorities plan effective measures to reduce the impacts of drought and soil erosion in the future.

Dry-season sources of riverine sediment from the tropical mixed urban-agricultural watershed of the Mun River Basin in northeastern Thailand

Northeastern(NE) Thailand is well recognized as the land for rice cropping and consequently, it is potentially contaminated with chemicals from soil fertilization, pest/weed control, and urban *** Mun River basin in NE Thailand principally is comprised of rice paddies and sedimentation in the river has been pronounced, but the studies on sediment source identification are limited. The current study aims to identify sediment sources in the Mun River basin and discuss possible impacts on ecosystems attributed to exposure to polluted sediment. The assessment relies upon physicochemical properties and heavy metal contents(iron(Fe), manganese(Mn), copper(Cu), chromium(Cr), nickel(Ni),and Zinc(Zn)) in the fine-grained sediment(<63 μm) taken from the Mun River basin and the Chi River in the dry season of 2020-2021. The findings revealed that the heavy metals in the sediment had not accumulated to levels of concern. Most sediment was from natural sources, including Fe-and Mn-rich sediment, Cr-dominant sediment, and Ni-and Cu-rich sediment. Fe-and Zn-rich sediment was, however, found in the urban watershed of Lam Ta Klong, and it could originate from mixed urban sources. Ferich sediment was predominant in the Mun River basin, which and could be a significant sink and source of toxic elements from agricultural and urban discharges. It is suggested that the toxic compounds in the sediment should be consistently monitored, whereas ecological and health risk assessment should be focused on the mobile forms.

Infertile patients may be a high-risk group of mental disorder. The precise identification of the mental status of infertile patients can provide decision support to healthcare professionals and may be helpful in providing preventive measures accordingly. Rare studies focused on the mental status identification using artificial intelligence (AI) models for infertile people. This study aimed to precisely identify the mental status (anxiety and depression) of infertile patients using three AI models, the XGBoost, decision tree, and stacking models. The dataset, retrieved from a structured questionnaire survey in 2011, which included 400 infertility outpatients seeking reproductive treatments at three teaching hospitals in Taiwan was adopted for training and testing AI models. Aforementioned AI models were designed and reached identification performances of accuracy, precision, recall and area under ROC curve (AUC) equaling 0.75–0.82, 0.70–0.80, 0.64–0.72, and 0.64–0.72, respectively. The XGBoost model (accuracy = 0.82, precision = 0.80, recall = 0.72, and AUC = 0.72) outperformed or equaled the decision tree and stacking models in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and AUC values. Designed AI models for mental status identification can be integrated into the clinical decision support system (CDSS) to provide the anxiety and depression group automatically. Accordingly, the worsening of infertility-related anxiety and depression can be prevented. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Hydraulic infrastructures, such as reservoirs and water diversion channels, cause altered streamflow worldwide. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the coupled impacts of reservoir operations and water transfer on downstream streamflow over 42 years (1979–2020) for a tropical river in Vietnam, the Vu Gia Thu Bon (VGTB). We also quantified variations in the multi-sub-basin contributions to the water budget associated with hydraulic structure development. Therefore, a semi-distributed hydrological model, SWAT (Soil and Water Assessment Tool), was developed for the entire VGTB basin considering two plausible scenarios: with a dam and without a dam. In this study, reservoirs substantially affected the streamflow during the 2011–2020 period when 12 cascading hydropower dams were constructed in the Vu Gia sub-basins. The cascading reservoirs across the Vu Gia River reduced the annual average streamflow by 28.1% during this period, whereas their influence was augmented by 13.9% at reaches further downstream. In contrast, the local reservoir and flow diversions created on the Thu Bon River resulted in a 6.5% increase in streamflow. The upstream reservoir operation significantly increased streamflow at the midstream stations by 27.8% compared to the no-dam period. The streamflow decreased in the dry season by 5.6% in the Vu Gia sub-basins and increased by 61.7% in the Thu Bon sub-basins. However, the impacts decreased in the wet season by 41.3% due to the operation of reservoirs, in which Dak Mi 4 had the most significant influence. It was found that the water diverted to the Thu Bon River was governed and reduced by the cascading hydropower dams. Therefore, the operation of 11 reservoirs has partially compensated for the lost water in the Vu Gia sub-basins, to which the Dak Mi 4 plant has transferred 19.7 m3/s (14%). Our findings classify the impact of cascading dams and diversion structures and their interaction with climate change. © 2023 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Smart computing has been particularly notable in the development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), which have many applications. Battery-powered, self-configuring sensor nodes are the basis of these networks. Energy and resources are limited when it comes to sensors. Unbalanced nodes in the network consume more power, which adversely affects the network's lifespan. An improved energy-efficient cluster-based routing protocol for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks (WSNs) based on the Internet of Things is proposed in this study. Several performance metrics were used to evaluate the proposed model's effectiveness, including energy efficiency, alive nodes, dead nodes, network lifetime, and residual energy. The results of the comparison were compared with existing methodologies, such as LEACH, PSO, and hybrid PSO. The proposed approach outperforms the existing model by a substantial margin in networks with 50 and 100 nodes, according to the simulation results. © 2024 IEEE.

Deep learning has excellent learning and feature classification abilities, extracting features in massive, multi-source, and high-dimensional measurement data. It also diagnoses and generalizes models without relying on manual intervention. Thus, it is widely used in equipment fault diagnosis. We introduce the common models of deep learning: deep confidence network, convolutional neural network, and automatic encoder. Using deep learning, the fault diagnosis of rolling bearings is executed, and the result provides the basis for future development. © 2023 IEEE.

Using the net of factors (IoT) technology has led to a resurgence in improving intelligent farms. The capacity to music and reveal crops, animals, and different farm activities has advanced the performance of farming operations. Clever farms enjoy the blessings of connectivity, allowing farmers to be more informed and higher prepared for any ability issues. This increased connectivity has also opened the door for new security problems. This paper looks at intelligent farm IoT structures' usability and safety features. The paper investigates the overall protection levels of the systems and the various security measures that may be implemented as an excellent way to discover and guard in opposition to ability threats. It also evaluates the usability of the structures and assesses the extent of convenience it offers for agriculture employees. The paper also evaluates the present-day enterprise tendencies in IoT protection, value, and potential future trends. Ultimately, the paper gives insights into modern and future security and usability measures that may be taken to ensure the protection and effectiveness of clever farm IoT systems. The paper examines the usability and protection capabilities of innovative Farm Internet of Things (IoT) structures, which provide farmers with the potential to monitor, manipulate, and control various farm elements remotely. Usability functions consisting of user interfaces, device connectivity, and communication protocols are analyzed to evaluate how user-friendly the device is. Additionally, safety functions consisting of authentication, authorization, encryption, and getting entry to manage are tested to decide how the gadget can defend the statistics and assets of the farm. Several studies have examined the connection between innovation, technology, and organizational culture in recent years. management of technology and innovation is crucial to an organization's expansion and success. The development of an innovative organizational culture comes before technology and innovation management. This study's primary goal was to assess how organizational culture affects innovation in the Indian service sector. The study made use of a paradigm for understanding organisational culture created by Cameron and Quinn, which looks at culture as a collection of conflicting values from four angles. A descriptive survey research design was used in the investigation. Employees of service industries made up the study's population. More than twenty IT organizations participated in the survey, and 120 out of 180 respondents returned completed questionnaires. This indicated a response rate of 66%.The collected data was analyzed using inferential data analysis techniques and descriptive statistics. Tables and figures were created after analysis with IBM SPSS software. The results demonstrated that the strongest associations with innovation and technology were found in companies with flexible, collaborative, and employee-friendly cultures. Lastly, the study suggests areas for additional research, such as employing a new organizational culture model for the study or qualitative techniques for data collecting and analysis to reveal deeper cultural features. © 2024 IEEE.

Bali, known for its picturesque landscapes and vibrant culture, has become a popular tourist destination, attracting millions yearly visitors. To meet the demands of discerning travelers, the five-star hotel industry in Bali needs to focus on developing integrated services that provide guests with a seamless and exceptional experience. This paper outlines key strategies and considerations for integrated service development in Bali’s five-star hotel industry in response to life after the COVID-19 pandemic. The research first identified ten service quality attributes from five-star hotels in Bali, Indonesia, through text mining of 2,169 customer reviews from online accommodation platforms and interviews with hotel staff. We also sought to determine the priorities of hotel attributes based on customers’ preferences through the Kano Model. Regarding service attributes, staff/service, amenities, spa, and health protocol were all must-haves;food, quality of the room, and corporate social responsibility were perceived as one-dimensional;location and pool were deemed attractive;access to the beach was deemed indifferent. These attributes became risk points highlighted in the service concept using blueprint mapping. The new service development framework offered several practical implications. The hotel should organize regular training and briefings to prepare the management for delivering better service. The new service process identified the failure points of the hotel’s customer service, thereby enhancing efficiency and reducing operational costs. Finally, health and safety protocols could be followed to execute service operations, and customer satisfaction could be increased. © 2025, Chinese Society for Quality. All rights reserved.

Effectively harnessing feature correlations is crucial for optimal performance in video action recognition tasks, whether in spatial or temporal dimensions. Convolutional operations excel at capturing local features through correlations among nearby points, while self-attention mechanisms capture global information by enabling interactions among all feature points. However, the limitations of a single convolutional layer in comprehending holistic feature correlations and the tendency of self-attention layers to overlook local positional characteristics necessitate an innovative approach. We introduce the Spatial–Temporal Convolutional Attention Network, comprising the Spatial Convolutional Attention Network and the Temporal Convolutional Attention Network. This approach strategically combines the strengths of self-attention for global context and convolution for local features, mitigating the limitations of individual layers. Key innovations include [explicitly state innovations]. To reinforce the uniqueness of our approach, we provide specific comparisons with existing methods, highlighting its superiority. In rigorous experiments, our proposed network demonstrates enhanced recognition performance, quantified through metrics such as accuracy and F1 score improvements over baseline models. By effectively capturing feature correlations, our approach elevates the neural network's capacity for spatiotemporal modeling, marking a significant advancement in video action recognition.
