In the Fall of 2010, two Missouri University of science & Technology (Missouri S and T) engineeringmanagement master's degree courses were offered to students at King Saud University (KSU) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. While this does not appear at first glance to be a significant accomplishment, it was the culmination of over three years of effort by administration and faculty representatives from both universities. These two courses are the start of a collaborative Applied engineeringmanagementprogram (AEMP) that will be the first of its kind in this region. A cohort of full time working students will take both on-site and distance education courses over a two year period. In the final summer session, students will be invited to the Missouri S&T campus for a capstone course. The initial M.S. degree will be a Missouri S&T engineeringmanagement degree with the anticipation that within a year students will be able to receive dual M.S. engineeringmanagement degrees, one from Missouri S&T and the other from KSU. This research examines U.S. electric utilities' transition from closed to open systems, while taking steps towards market orientation and subsequent changes in their product portfolios. It lists the reasons driving this change and includes a detailed analysis of the current product portfolios of the U.S. utilities focusing on adding more renewable energy sources. The United States (US) Department of Defense (DoD) offers a great opportunity to implement solar energy solutions across its US bases. It is the single largest energy consumer in the federal government and has sufficient land requirements to implement solar energy solutions. By implementing solar energy solutions across its bases in the US, the DoD will be able to realize benefits such as meeting federal policies and mandates, reducing energy intensity from fossil fuel resources (including foreign oil), reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and improving national security and mission readiness. This report describes the current DoD energy landscape for its facilities and nontactical (fleet) vehicles, DoD benefits of implementing solar energy technologies, and research methods and results that will help realize these benefits through the development of a decision model that will augment the implementation of solar energy technologies on DoD bases. The feasibility for simultaneous local fresh water oleaginous algae cultivation and wastewater nitrogen removal were discussed in this study. The operation factors including illu- mination intensities, carbon source, initial nitrogen source, and retention time were fixed. The results indicated that the algae biomass increased from 28.3 mg/L to 254 mg/L at the 7th day. The oil weight increased from 5.75 mg/L to 85.34 mg/L at the 7th day. The percentage of algae oil increased from 20.4 % to 33.6 %, or by 13.2 %. The first-order equation was found to be the excellent fit model for describing the growth of algae biomass and production of oil content. The values of growth rate constant of algae and production rate constant were 0.3095 1/day and 0.3738 1/day, respectively. The value of production rate constant was about 1.2 times as that of the value of growth rate constant of algae, indicating an unbalance growth of algae biomass and oil content. The removal efficiency for ammonia nitrogen and phosphate was 84.8 % and 36.2 %, respectively.

The Nuclear Waste managementprogram at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is responsible for the development of the waste package design to meet the Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensing requirements for the Nevada Nuclear Waste Storage Investigations (NNWSI) Project. The metallic container component of the waste package is required to assist in providing substantially complete containment of the waste for a period of up to 1000 years. Long term phase stability of the austenitic candidate materials (304L and 316L stainless steels and alloy 825) over this time period at moderate temperatures (100–250°C) can impact the mechanical and corrosion behavior of the metal barrier. A review of the technical literature with respect to phase stability of 304L, 316L and 825 is presented. The impact of martensitic transformations, carbide precipitation and intermediate (σ. χ, and η) phase formation on the mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of these alloys at repository relevant conditions is discussed. The effect of sensitization on intergranular stress corrosion cracking (IGSCC) of each alloy is also addressed. A summary of the impact of phase stability on the degradation of each alloy in the proposed repository environment is included.

Telemedicine is a very important area in medical field that is expanding daily motivated by many researchers interested in improving medical applications. In Brazil was started in 2005, in the State of Santa Catarina has a developed server called the CyclopsDCMServer, which the purpose to embrace the HDF for the manipulation of medical images (DICOM) using a distributed file system. Since then, many researches were initiated in order to seek better performance. Our approach for this server represents an additional parallel implementation in I/O operations since HDF version 5 has an essential feature for our work which supports parallel I/O, based upon the MPI paradigm. Early experiments using four parallel nodes, provide good performance when compare to the serial HDF implemented in the CyclopsDCMServer.

This paper presents a framework, aiming to develop the mass customization for textile and apparel industries in Thailand. The developed model as presented is the relationship of the connection pertaining to customers’ needs at industrial levels, most of which are Original Design Manufacturer (OEM), a type of textile and apparel business. The outstanding of OEM is the presentation of newly created designs to customers with a variety of products. Importantly, in order to gain such effective production management, an appropriate administrative system with high flexibility, efficient production (Small Lot Size), and punctual delivery is crucially required. In relation to the framework for mass customization development, it concerns three main related involvements: customers, OEM industries, and suppliers, all of which will be assessed so as to be promptly employed in such firms manufacturing products in accordance with the productive systems of mass customization *** conceptual from mass customization systems will facilitate the management in terms of the production designing in factories, aiming at clustering which is complex to the creation of platform from common parts, leading to the development of a variety of goods by the process of product family.
