Compressive strength, water absorption and pulse velocity tests of calcined clay- limestone cement mortars

The cement industry consumes a lot of energy and releases CO2 to the environment causing air pollution. The replacement of Portland cement is one way to reduce CO2. This research investigated the replacement of Portland cement (PC) by calcined clay (CC) and Limestone (Ls). It was found that compressive strength reduced when using Ls as PC replacement. On the other hand, using CC content from 10% to 30 wt% can improve the compressive strength in limestone mixes and reduce water absorption and void content. The mortar content of 30 wt% calcined clay gave the highest compressive strength, the lowest water absorption and void content. The pulse velocity test results were found to have a trend similar to that of the compressive strength results which showed a direct relationship between pulse velocity and compressive strength. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd. In this study, we aimed to develop LED lighting with an emission spectrum effective for microalgae propagation, and fabricated LED lighting with Phosphor layer RGB, which has peaks in the red, green, and blue wavelength bands, and Phosphor layer RG'B', which has broader peaks in the red, green, and blue wavelength bands. In order to examine the effect of microalgae propagation, Closterium ehrenbergii samples prepared at different dilution rates were irradiated with LED illumination light of Phosphor layer RG'B' and Phosphor layer RGB, respectively, for 7 days, and their propagation rates were compared. The results of the experiment showed that Phosphor layer RG'B' produced a higher propagation rate than Phosphor layer RGB. © 2024 IEEE.

In this proposed research are analyzed general solutions and techniques to optimize the solar luminosity measurement by a designed smart system, as well as its usability by the solar energy conversion and its storing. However, many times, this kind of systems have not an optimal solar path tracker and as a consequence it can not be measured the full solar luminosity during all the day, therefore, in this work are designed optimal mathematical models and algorithms to enhance the solar path tracker according to measure solar luminosity and getting optimal solar energy conversion/storing, which is useful to study geographical conditions before to build solar energy conversion centers. As well as, in this research also is studied and suggested some techniques to get wireless data communication regarding the measured environmental variables, measured solar luminosity and stored electrical energy as a consequence of the solar energy conversion, which can be transmitted, so far away, to a central monitoring center by Radio Frequency (RF) waves. © 2024, European Association for the Development of Renewable Energy, Environment and Power Quality (EA4EPQ). Poly(polyol sebacate) (PPs) polymer family has been recognized as promising biomaterials for biomedical applications with their characteristics of easy production, elasticity, biodegradation, and cytocompatibility. Poly(xylitol sebacate)-co-poly(ethylene glycol) (PXs-co-PEG) has been developed to fabricate PPs-based hydrogels;however, current PXs-co-PEG hydrogels presented limited properties and functions due to the limitations of the crosslinkers and crosslinking chemistry used in the hydrogel formation. Here, we fabricate a new type of PXs-co-PEG hydrogels through the use of multifunctional crosslinkers as well as dynamic bonds. In our design, polyethyleneimine-polydopamine (PEI-PDA) macromers are utilized to crosslink aldehyde-functionalized PXs-co-PEG (APP) through imine bonds and hydrogen bonds. PEI-PDA/APP hydrogels present multiple functional properties (e.g., fluorescent, elastomeric, biodegradable, self-healing, bioadhesive, antioxidant, and antibacterial behaviors). These properties of PEI-PDA/APP hydrogels can be fine-tuned by changing the PDA grafting degrees in the PEI-PDA crosslinkers. Most importantly, PEI-PDA/APP hydrogels are considered promising wound dressings to promote tissue remodeling and prevent bacterial infection in vivo. Taken together, PEI-PDA/APP hydrogels have been demonstrated as versatile biomaterials to provide multiple tailorable properties and desirable functions to expand the utility of PPs-based hydrogels for advanced biomedical applications. statement of significance: Various strategies have been developed to fabricate poly(polyol sebacate) (PPs)-based hydrogels. Randomized spline Trees for Functional Data Classification: Theory and Application to Environmental Time series

Functional data analysis (FDA) and ensemble learning can be powerful tools for analyzing complex environmental time series. Recent literature has highlighted the key role of diversity in enhancing accuracy and reducing variance in ensemble *** paper introduces Randomized spline Trees (RsT), a novel algorithm that bridges these two approaches by incorporating randomized functional representations into the Random Forest framework. RsT generates diverse functional representations of input data using randomized B-spline parameters, creating an ensemble of decision trees trained on these varied representations. We provide a theoretical analysis of how this functional diversity contributes to reducing generalization error and present empirical evaluations on six environmental time series classification tasks from the UCR Time series Archive. Results show that RsT variants outperform standard Random Forests and Gradient Boosting on most datasets, improving classification accuracy by up to 14%. The success of RsT demonstrates the potential of adaptive functional representations in capturing complex temporal patterns in environmental data. The battery is one of the most important energy sources. The most popular types of battery for energy storage are lithium batteries. However, due to its high energy storage value and long service life, there are also disadvantages to the environment. Because lithium batteries are still toxic, making the disposal or recycling of lithium batteries difficult. This has led to the development of sodium-ion batteries (sIBs) in high-efficiency electrochemical energy storage devices and rechargeable electric vehicles to replace lithium batteries with limited lithium content. In comparison, sodium batteries use elemental sodium that is readily available, abundant, and has low production costs. For battery applications, Na+ sodium ion provides an efficient moving charge carrier, stable structure, and can make phosphate electrodes with a stable open structure. Furthermore, it gives a voltage value of 3.4 V. Therefore, a synthetic method study in this study. Na(Fe1-xAlx)PO4 through a solid-state process and calcination at 650, 675, 700, 725, and 750 °C to provide the substance with the desired phase. The samples were analyzed through the phase formation analysis process using X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential thermal analysis (DTA), and morphology characterized by scanning electron microscopy (sEM). This experiment and study guide the future development of sodium acid ion batteries. © 2022

Although β-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), one of the endogenous body ketones, possesses high bioactivities, it is rapidly consumed, metabolized, and eliminated from the body. In this study, we designed new self-assembling nanoparticles that sustainably released BHB to improve bioavailability and evaluated their efficacy in in vivo experiments using rodent animal models. since poly(β-hydroxybutyrate) [poly(BHB)] is regarded as a polymeric prodrug that is hydrolyzed by endogenous enzymes and releases BHB in a sustained manner, our idea was to engineer hydrophobic poly(BHB) in one of the segments in the amphiphilic block copolymer, of which self-assembles in water to form nanoparticles of tens of nanometers in size (abbreviated as NanoBHB). Here, methoxy-poly(ethylene glycol) was employed as the hydrophilic segment of the block copolymer to stabilize the nanoparticles in aqueous environments, thus enabling NanoBHBs to be administrable both orally and through injection. Experimental results showed that NanoBHB has low toxicity and releases free BHB for an extended period in vitro and in vivo. Moreover, NanoBHB exhibits superior nephroprotective effects in cisplatin-induced acute kidney injury mouse models compared to low-molecular-weight (LMW) sodium BHB, suggesting the potential of NanoBHB as a sustainable release formulation to supply BHB for medicinal applications. © 2024 The Author(s). The vibration measurement of flows in transient or steady-state is a very complicated task. Moreover, to correlate it with a temperature process is quite important according to get information regarding molecular kinetic energy of thermal sources (such as flow measurement used in cleaning tasks) according to achieve heating transfer information of a thermal process. However, there is a trouble concerning the transduction stage in the measurement while it is not a transducer designed algorithm as a consequence of a mathematical model, which correlates the calibration data with the theoretical model of the heating/vibration transfer. For this reason, in this research is proposed intelligent sensors/transducers, which are based on Anodic Aluminium Oxide (AAO) and a mathematical procedure of the measurement instrumentation according to adaptive coefficients in the Modulating Functions strategies analysis and getting optimal measurements. In this research is explained and analysed the temperature measurement process and the transduction process as the strict correlation of the calibration of the temperature/vibration sensor. For this reason, there were evaluated different transducers and the temperature/vibration reference for the calibration. The based on nanostructures temperature sensors are designed by specific and complex procedures according to achieve quite operation range, robustness and precision. Moreover, the transduction can be obtained through different electrical answer variables such as voltage, electrical current or capacitance and possible to send by wireless mechanisms and protocols to the main control system. Therefore, the evaluation of the designed advanced sensor performance was achieved by the vibration and temperature measurement of the water surface of a ultrasound washing machine, for which the designed sensor enhances energy-saving of the washing process. © 2023, European Association for the Development of Renewable Energy, Environment and Powe

Lithium-ion batteries (LIB) have developed into the mainstream power source of energy storage devices due to their advantages: high power density, high power, long service life, and less pollution. This materials development for LFP batteries was considered successful in synthesizing powder. Here we show that three synthesis conditions were performed. LFP doped NiO, NMC, and (NH4)2HPO4 were synthesized by the nitrogen gas flow method. LFP-doped NiO was burned at 600 °C and 700 °C for five h. NMC doped with LFP burned at 550 °C for five h, and NMC-doped LFP and (NH4)2HPO4 were burned at 550 °C and 600 °C for five h. The structure and morphology of the material were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (sEM). © 2022
