This study presents the synthesis and characterization of srAl2O4 phosphors doped with Dy3+ and Eu2+ ions. The phosphors were prepared via the solid-state reaction method and their crystal structure was analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD). The surface morphology and microstructure were examined using scanning electron microscopy (sEM), while the luminescent properties were evaluated through photoluminescence (PL) emission spectra. The synthesized phosphors exhibited a uniform and compact morphology, with well-defined particles and high purity. Under UV excitation, the phosphors displayed intense emission peaks in the blue-green region of the spectrum. The emitted color could be tuned by adjusting the Eu2+:Dy3+ ratio, offering flexibility for specific application requirements. Additionally, the phosphors demonstrated excellent long-lasting luminescence properties, with sustained emission visible even after several minutes of UV excitation. These findings highlight the potential of srAl2O4: Dy3+ and Eu2+ phosphors for various applications, particularly those requiring persistent emission in low-light conditions. The results contribute to the understanding of the synthesis, characterization, and potential applications of these phosphors, opening avenues for further research in the field. © 2024, The Authors. Rationale for this review is the pressing medical and social problem of the posttraumatic stress disorder (PTsD) treatment. It is known that biofeedback technology is one of the most effective methods of treatment and rehabilitation for emotional profile disorders. In order to develop biofeedback aimed to PTsD rehabilitation, we conducted a literature search on this problem. However, it appears that at the moment there is not enough unambiguous data on this type of biofeedback design. The pathogenesis of PTsD is closely related to impaired efficiency of sensorimotor integration (sMI). The effectiveness of therapy for psychosomatic disorders in patients with PTsD can be increased by restoring normal sensorimotor integration. The review examines various autonomic, electrophysiological and postural markers of destroyed sensorimotor integration (sMI) in individuals with PTsD. We have found that the most informative indicators of sMI in norm include: an increase in EEG power in the individually determined high-frequency alpha subrange, a decrease in the speed of body sway and energy demands to maintain a vertical posture, and a decrease in EMG activity of muscles not involved in cognitive or psychomotor performance. We intend to use these indicators in diagnostic purposes and to develop neurofeedback technology for sMI recovery in patients with PTsD. © 2023 IEEE.

Background: Gait classification systems (GCs) may enable clinicians to differentiate gait patterns into clinically significant categories that assist in clinical decision-making and assessment of outcomes. Davids and Bagley in 2014 [1] described a GCs for children with cerebral palsy (GCs-CP). The purpose of our study was to use the GCs-CP for the first time on a sample of patients with CP and to evaluate the reliability and utility of the classification system. Methods: The gait of 131 children with CP was retrospectively reviewed and classified according to Davids and Bagley's classification using two-dimensional (2D) video and three-dimensional (3D) lower limb kinematics and kinetics. Gross Motor Function Classification system (GMFCs) levels were determined, and the Gait Profile scores (GPs) calculated to characterize the sample concerning gait classification. The comparison between the groups was performed using the Kruskal-Wallis test with respect to the non-normal distribution of the data. The intrarater and interrater reliability was determined using the Kappa index (k) statistics with 95% CI. Results: All GCs-CP groups were represented within the evaluated sample. Of the 131 cases evaluated, 127 (96.95%) were able to be classified with respect to sagittal plane stance phase gait deviations. All patients in the sample were able to be classified with respect to sagittal plane swing phase and transverse plane gait deviations. The interrater reliability was 0.596 and 0.485 for the first and second levels of the classification, respectively, according to the Fleiss's Kappa statistics. Intrarater reliability was 0.776 and 0.714 for the raters one and two, respectively, according to the Cohen's Kappa statistics. significance: The GCs-CP exhibited clinical utility, successfully classifying almost all subjects with CP in two planes, based upon kinematic and kinetic data. Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are capable of meeting the challenges associated with next-generation energy storage devices. Use of NMC has grown at 400,000 tons per year in 2025. Because of its performance surpassing that of other cathode materials. Thus, in this work, the synthesis of lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (LiNi 0.5 Mn 0.3 Co 0.2 O 2 ; NMC) was doped carbon in the calcination process was investigated. Excellent intercalation of lithium ions transfer between cathode and anode was noted. Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) results showed that NMC crystalized at 550 °C. Changes were confirmed by using both X-ray diffract meter (XRD) and scanning Electron Microscope (sEM). The study of the possibility of NMC cathode materials in which the enhancement of electrochemical performance was investigated by charge–discharge capacity in 0.1C-rate were carried out to reveal carbon's effect pristine NMC.

Because of the cancer incidence increase and population aging in Taiwan, we aimed to assess the cancer prevalence, to summarize the comorbidities of older patients with the five most common cancers (i.e., breast, colorectal, liver, lung, and oral), and to develop a Taiwan cancer comorbidity index (TCCI) for studying their actual prognosis. The linkage of the Taiwan Cancer Registry, Cause of Death Database, and National Health Insurance Research Database was used. We followed the standard statistical learning steps to obtain a survival model with good discriminatory accuracy in predicting death due to noncancer causes, from which we obtained the TCCI and defined comorbidity levels. We reported the actual prognosis by age, stage, and comorbidity level. In Taiwan, cancer prevalence nearly doubled in 2004–2014, and comorbidities were common among older patients. stage was the major predictor of patients' actual prognoses. For localized and regional breast, colorectal, and oral cancers, comorbidities correlated with noncancer-related deaths. Compared with the Us, the chances of dying from comorbidities in Taiwan were lower and the chances of dying from cancer were higher for breast, colorectal, and male lung cancers. These actual prognoses could help clinicians and patients in treatment decision-making and help policymakers in resource planning. © 2023, The Author(s).

DNA methylation is an epigenetic mechanism that introduces a methyl group at the C5 position of cytosine. This reaction is catalyzed by DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs) and is essential for the regulation of gene transcription. The DNMT1 and DNMT3A or -3B family proteins are known targets for the inhibition of DNA hypermethylation in cancer cells. A selective non-nucleoside DNMT3A inhibitor that mimics s-adenosyl-l-methionine and deoxycytidine has been developed;however, its selectivity mechanism is unclear because the structure of the inhibitor–protein complex has not yet been determined. Therefore, we performed docking and molecular dynamics simulations to predict the structure of the complex formed by the association between DNMT3A and the selective inhibitor. Through our simulations, binding free energy decomposition analysis, structural isoform comparison, and residue scanning revealed that Arg688 of DNMT3A is involved in the interaction with this inhibitor, as seen by its significant contribution to the binding free energy. The presence of Asn1192 at the corresponding residues in DNMT1 results in a loss of affinity for the inhibitor, suggesting that the interactions mediated by Arg688 in DNMT3A are essential for selectivity. Our study findings can be applied in the design of DNMT-selective inhibitors and methylation-specific drug optimization procedures. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Detectability of exomoons by examining the signals from a model of transiting exoplanets with moons

Exomoons are natural satellites of exoplanets. Nowadays, none has been confirmed. However, a number of detection techniques have been proposed, including Transit Timing Variations (TTV) and Transit Duration Variations (TDV) techniques. From a recent study, fitting observed transit with the traditional photocentric fitting model shows unique features around the primary and secondary exomoon transits in TDV and transit depth signals, which might reduce the detectability. The aim of this work is to retrieve the variation of TTV, TDV and transit depth signals of exomoon systems with the photocentric fitting model. One year star-planet-moon transit light curves are simulated with LUNA algorithm and fit with TransitFit. The results show that neglecting the TDV and transit depth data with phase around exomoon's primary and secondary transits improve the exomoon detectability by a factor of ten and the systems with large moon orbital semi-major axis with nearly edge-on orbit around low mass stars can be detected.

Effects of heat treatments on the microstructure and hardness of thermally sprayed Ni-Cr-Mo-Al alloy coating

Thermal spray coating is one of the technologies used to prevent corrosion and wear by creating a protective layer on the substrate. From previous research, the microstructure of arc-sprayed nickel-chromium-molybdenum-aluminium (Ni-Cr-Mo-Al) after heat treatment at 1100°C was investigated. It was found that the corrosion rate of this coating under 20vol%H2sO4 was reduced by 97%. However, the heat treatment at high temperatures is still limited to industrial applications. Therefore, this research will focus on studying microstructure and properties after heat treatment at moderately high temperatures, which are in a range of service temperature. specimens were arc sprayed and heat treated at 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700°C and characterized by scanning Electron Microscopy (sEM) with Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDs) technique. Phases were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD). There was no significant change of γ-Ni grains after heat treated at 600°C for 10 days from the Electron Backscattered Diffraction (EBsD) study. The hardness of the coatings increased after heat treatments due to a reduction in porosity, an increase of oxides and the formation of Mosi2.

Aluminum-silicon Alloy, ADC12 is one of the most popular alloys for pressure die casting due to its high castability and high productivity. ADC12 is a hypoeutectic aluminum-silicon alloy that contains 10-12wt% of si and has an occasional problem for a mechanical properties failure such as crack and shrinkage porosity. This study presents the investigation of the microstructure of ADC12 parts produced by pressured die casting with different process parameters and chemical compositions. The microstructure was observed using optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (sEM) with energy - dispersive X-ray (EDX) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBsD) to determine phases, grain, and crystallographic information in order to understand the microstructural evolution after die casting with different process conditions. Changes in casting pressure and a reduction of iron content contributed to enhanced mechanical properties and less shrinkage porosity. This was due to different processing parameters, mainly casting pressure. The average grain size of aluminum matrix was also reduced due to a higher pressure during casting with a moderately fast cooling rate. © 2018 Trans Tech Publications.
