The dynamic shear modulus at very small strains (Go) and the damping properties are part of the essential parameters to analyze the dynamic response of the soils, therefore, the accuracy in finding these values is of great relevance. The influence of matric suction, capillary forces and partial saturation condition in these parameters is a relatively little studied topic, since for decades the saturated or 'dry' conditions of the materials have been implemented in tests assuming an ideal conditions and conservative scenarios, as opposed to the actual insitu conditions in many soil deposits. Through a general review of the specialized literature, this article aims to present a comparative critical analysis of several tests developed with the resonant column system, in order to highlight the effects of the partial saturation condition and the matrix suction in the shear modulus (Go). It was found that the modulus has a ratio of proportionality with the magnitude of matric suction and net confining stress, that relationship, although independent of the type of material, is related to the texture and particle size characteristic. © 2017 IEEE.

The implementation of non-unit-based scheduling method in a housing project

Of the various types of construction projects, contractors often encounter repetitive projects. Many methods have been used for scheduling repetitive projects, but most repetitive scheduling methods have the basis that they are composed of many identical production units. Scheduling repetitive projects using unit-based methods has several constraints such as modeling and applying them to construction projects requiring simplification of repetitive activities to have a single duration and in a fixed production sequence. Therefore, a non-unit-based scheduling method is developed. In this analysis, the project data was obtained from a housing project. Based on the data, an analysis was conducted to look for the effect of changes in the factors used in the non- unit-based scheduling method on the final duration of the project. From the analysis it was found that the factors used in the non-unit-based scheduling method such as duration, priority order of activities, number of resource groups, and relationships between activities greatly influenced the final duration of the project.

Retention Pond and Pump Station as an Alternative To Flood Management In Bengawan Jero Irrigation Area

Water is the source of life to all living organisms. But in a very large volume, water can be problematic to life. One of problems generated by a large volume of water is flood disaster. River, as a water source, is one of natural resources with multifunction to human beings. Some areas in Indonesia have increasing flood intensity as the rainy season comes. Retention pond and pump station is one solution to dealing with flood puddle occurring in area. One of areas experiencing flood routinely annually is Bengawan Jero Irrigation Area (D.I. Bengawan Jero). The design of retention pond and pump station in DI Bengawan Jero was calculated using flood flow rate with repeated period of 10 years. From the result of rainfall data processing with repeated period of 10 years using Nakayasu method, it could be found Qplanngci of 7.37 m3/s at hour 1. The storage volume needed to deal with flood in the Retention Pond in Bengawan Jero Irrigation area is 3.909 m3, using 2 pumps with capacity of 2.5 m3/s. From hydrograph analysis, it could be concluded that the use of retention pond and pump station can control the peak flow rate by suppressing or cutting the flood peak to occur.

Relationship between extreme rainfall and design flood-discharge of the Ciliwung river

Flood in Jakarta is occurred almost every year due to inadequate flood control systems to the flood prediction, inadequate drainage system, and trash that clog the drainage. The increase of rainfall is also one of the causes of flooding. That changing rainfall characteristics can affect river flow. This study aims to analyze the trend of rainfall in different time frames and its effect to flood discharge. The extreme rainfall trend is analyzed for every 15 years period from rainfall data of 1985 to 2019 for several return periods. Three period is selected for trend analysis and compared to the baseline data (1985-2019). Based on the analysis, the extreme rainfall for 1995-2009 and 2005-2019 period compared to the baseline is increased for all return periods. The increasing percentage is approximately 3-10% and 5-16% respectively. Since the extreme rainfall is increased, the design discharge is also increased for all return periods. The increasing percentage for 1995-2009 and 2005-2019 period compared to the baseline is 4-12% and 7-19% respectively. However, the design rainfall and discharge for the period 1985-1999 is lower than the baseline.

Analysis of potential destructive earthquakes in the seulimeum fault – North

Earthquake activities in Aceh Province are caused by the Sumatran Fault Zone and the West Coast Subduction Zone. Recent Research suggested that there are 13 Active Fault Segments in the Aceh region. Since 1938 – 2018 there were 21 destructive earthquakes occurred in Aceh. Destructive earthquakes were dominated by the source of active fault segment in the Aceh region, one of the active faults with destructive earthquakes is the Seulimeum Fault – North. This research aims to determine the level of seismicity in the Seulimeum Fault - North area using the Gutenberg Richter (Log=a−bM) method. Then it is used to calculate surface density and earthquake recurrence times. The results are then used to model the worst scenario of a destructive earthquake along Seulimeum Fault – North, so that the level of earthquake hazard potential risk can be determinated. The data used in the research based on the priority of the sources Sumatran Fault epicenter as earthquake catalog in the Aceh region from 2010 to 2021 with geographical boundaries of 1° - 6 ° Latitude and 94.0° - 99.0° Longitude and magnitude>1, depth less than 30 km. The results of the analysis figure that the Seulimeum Fault – North has a surface density (B-value) around 0.2 – 0.6. It was assumed that the area has a high concentration of fault stress or currently accumulating energy and has the potential to generate a severe earthquake in the future. The recurrence times of destructive earthquakes in the Seulimeum Fault – North with a time span of 47.66 - 59.12 years and the maximum magnitude release is estimated to be M≤8 implying a high level of potential hazard risk.

A Proposal of image-based measurement instead of laser-based measurement for indoor application

Measuring dimensions of indoor environment have an important role in construction, whether for calculation of work, or documentation purposes. Humans may introduce errors and make measuring real objects less accurate. Several methods have been developed to reduce this error and one of them is a non-contact measurement that executes according to guideline can minimize this error. Measurement using image-based measurement can reduce human involvement, where Total Station Theodolite (TST) is very dependent on its operator skill and involvement. This study aims to show the differences between image-based and laser-based measurements using TST in measuring the dimension of the indoor environment. Image-based measurement was obtained by taking photos of a few rooms and processed with an open-source software to produce a 3D model. This 3D model then measured to provide measurement for differences comparison. Laser-based measurement was obtained by hiring professional surveyor to measure the rooms with TST. Results from this study can be used as a reference in developing a new method to measure dimension in indoor application. Without hiring professional to measure using photogrammetry in this research, measurement using photogrammetry can get average differences of 0,2593% from measurement using TST.

The implementation of fuzzy trapezoidal critical path method in a housing project

Project scheduling is one of the most important elements in a project. Scheduling using deterministic methods often has constraints in estimating the completion time for a project. Using deterministic methods that there is only 1 duration to determine the completion of an activity where this will be risky if there is a delay, so in this study try to implement the scheduling method using a trapezoidal fuzzy critical path, where there are 4 durations is used to estimate the completion of a job. In this analysis, the project data was obtained from the VB housing project. Based on the available data, several research scenarios were obtained to find the effect of changes in the factors contained in the trapezoidal fuzzy method towards the changing of the final duration and critical path in the project. The results of this analysis were found that the changes in the critical path could be influenced by changes in alpha values and the duration of the activity range. The total project duration range is affected by the shape of the fuzzy diagram.

Evacuation route during a disaster with health protocol in the new normal era

The southern coast of Java Island, one of which is Sumbermanjing Wetan District, Malang Regency, is considered prone to the geological disaster tsunami. Sumbermanjing Wetan District is directly adjacent to the Indian Ocean, a seismic gap zone that produces geological processes and high-intensity seismic activity that can trigger tsunami waves. On June 13, 2021, the COVID-19 outbreak in Sumbermanjing Wetan District recorded 90 suspected cases (two were hospitalized and the other 88 were self-isolating at home), and 38 were confirmed positive for COVID-19 (34 recovered and 4 died). This research focuses on evacuation plans for coastal areas from the threat of a tsunami during the pandemic and the new normal era. The sub-variables for determining the shelters include building area, type of building, ease of access, building construction, and capacity. The sub-variables for determining the evacuation route include road class, pavement type, and road width. Meanwhile, the sub-variables for implementing health protocols in the new normal era are maintaining distance, wearing masks, washing hands, special treatment for symptomatic refugees, and implementing other health protocols. The implementation of health protocols in evacuation activities will bring an impact on the reduction of the available shelter's capacity. The study results indicate the need for additional new shelters to implement health protocols in the new normal era. With this addition, it will impact the travel time from the residential areas at risk of tsunami impacts to the shelters. One of the reasons is that the closest shelter to the residential area is already full of refugees, so the refugees have to move and evacuate to the other shelters that can still accommodate them.

Effect of addition of palm shell ash and asphalt emulsion for bearing capacity on clay soils

Soil stabilization is a method to improve soil properties either by mechanical means or by adding another material to the soil with the purpose is to increase the strength or bearing capacity of the subgrade to the construction built on it. Subgrade with low bearing capacity can cause damage or collapse of construction above it. In this study, the type of stabilized soil is clay. Repairing this subgrade by adding addictive material to the clay using palm shell ash and asphalt emulsion with 8% of palm shell ash content as a dependent variable and emulsion asphalt of 3%, 6%, 9%, and 12% as an independent variable. The purpose of this step is to get the optimum mixture content as a stabilizing agent. Based on testing, the optimum mixture content is 8% palm shell ash+9% emulsion asphalt. The addition of this addictive material can reduce water content by 13.23%, plastic index by 74.47%, and shrinkage by 43.75% during the 14 days curing period, and increase the bearing capacity of subgrade through CBR testing of unsoaked and soaked respectively each of 114.15% during the curing period of 14 days and 211.1% during soaking of 4 days after curing period of 14 days. Based on the result of testing, this addictive material can be used as a stabilizing material.

The influence of regim's river and run-off coefficient in the cacthment areas of Sidutan and Reak: a correlation analysis

The annual runoff coefficient required a single hydrograph and hourly rainfall in a year. The relationship between the river regime coefficients and runoff coefficients will produce correlations in linear equations. The calculation results obtained the relationship of the River Regime Coefficient (KRS) with Runoff Coefficient in the Sidutan Watershed is proportional with the equation y = -2E-05x2 + 0.0048x -0.0539 with the coefficient of determination R2 = 0.6796. KRS values obtained in 2011-2016 were respectively 67.69; 43.99; 188.92; 53.78; 45.01 which is included in the low to to high classification range. This indicates the watershed is in bad condition. Runoff coefficient (C) each 0.188; 0.101; 0.229; 0.163; 0.148 shows good classification, so that the watershed is in good condition. In the Reak River Basin, the relationship between KRS and C is proportional with the equation y = 0.0003x2 -0.011x + 0.1618 with a coefficient of determination R2 = 0.7855. KRS values obtained in 2011-2016 are respectively 27.46; 29.80; 31.06; 16.96; 14,11 which are included in the very low to low classification range. This indicates the watershed is in good condition. Classification of good C values respectively 0.071; 0.106; 0.110; 0.074; 0.058, indicating that the watershed is in good condition.
