This work investigates the common-mode noise (CMN) for a weakly coupled differential microstrip lines (WCDMLs) that crosses a weakly coupled differential embedded microstrip lines (WCDEMLs) with different degrees. Time- and frequency-domains analyses of the proposed structure are performed to investigate the CMN by studying the differential-to-common mode conversion and the time-domain CMN waveform using the 3-D full-wave simulator HFSS and CST. According to analyzed results, the magnitudes of time- and frequency- domains near-end CM crosstalk are both large than far-end CM crosstalk for a weakly coupled differential microstrip lines (WCDMLs) that crosses a weakly coupled differential embedded microstrip lines (WCDEMLs). In addition, the amount of far-end CMN is small and almost independent of the crossing angle. For a small crossing angle, the very asymmetrical crossing area causes the differences between the propagation times of the two signals on the differential traces and the coupling noises on the other two differential traces to both are large.

This study investigates how common-mode noise (CMN) is generated and reduced for the differential traces with adjacent ground lines were connected to a ground plane. Based on the resonant effects of ground line and parallel ground planes, the CMN generation mechanism is studied. Based on the analysis of the generation mechanism, a simple design guideline for CMN reduction is proposed for the differential traces with adjacent ground lines were connected to a ground plane.

This work proposes a new common-mode noise (CMN) reduction scheme that involves different-layers-routing turned traces to reduce the CMN in weakly coupled differential serpentine delay microstrip lines (DSDMLs). The purpose of using different-layers-routing turned traces instead of same-layer-routing coupled turned traces (CTTs) (conventional scheme) is to cause the difference between the delay times of the two traces of the turn-traces section to approach zero to minimize the CMN. Moreover, the CMNs in weakly coupled DSDMLs achieved using various reduction schemes are compared. The proposed solution obtains a peak-to-peak amplitude of CMN in the time domain simulation that is more than 90 % with respect to the corresponding value obtained using the conventional scheme. The proposed reduction scheme in DSDMLs reduces the differential-to-common mode conversion (|S cd21 |) by more than 20dB in the range 4.5GHz~16GHz. The range of frequencies over which CMN is reduced is very wide, being almost the full band (DC~16GHz). The reduction using the proposed reduction scheme exceeds those achieved using previous reduction schemes, strongly coupled turned-traces and guard traces.

In this paper, we propose an image-based postal barcode decoding algorithm. The proposed algorithm is capable of correcting missing bars in a symbol. Postal barcodes in general belong to bar length modulated symbology. Usually, postal barcodes use a check digit to detect errors. It is possible for some postal code symbologies not only to detect errors, but also to correct them by using the uniqueness of the pattern of a digit. In this paper, we present a general method of correcting errors caused by missing bars. In order to validate our method, a POSTNET (Postal Numeric Encoding Techniques) decoder is implemented. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can correct one missing bar in a digit, and at most ten missing bars in a POSTNET symbol.

The aim of this study was to develop a Mobile Reading Assistance System Based on Chinese Words for students in elementary schools. This paper presents a system which is called Reading Assistance for the elementary school students to learn anytime and anywhere by using personal mobile devices (PDA) and the Wireless Network. In this system, instructors would be required to upload the text content to the system and instructors can view the learning record of students. On the other hand, learner can read the text content and learn Chinese words by using this system. To sum up, the characters of this system are easy reading, easy learning, easy conduct, and high supportive which support for student Assistance of Reading. In the future, researchers will use tests to assess the system.

The paper developed a block-wise approach for ICA algorithms which can improve the computational efficiency of ICA without the degradation of performance for the separation of biomedical signals. Source signals including electrocardiogram (ECG), electromyogram (EMG) and 60-Hz sinusoid are linearly mixed for experimental tests. The mean-square errors (MSE) between the original sources and the separated signals are calculated for the evaluation of separation performance. These results demonstrated that the proposed block-wise approach can achieve the desired separation performance of signals in a more efficient way. © 2010 IEEE.

IETF(Internet engineering Task Force) proposed the management mechanism of NEMO (network mobility) to support network mobility. The mobility management of NEMO is an extension of mobile IPv6 (MIPv6), and it inherits also all the drawbacks of MIPv6 such as inefficient routing, high handover latency, packet loss rate, and so on. The purpose of method which is based on the public transportations (e.g. Train, MRT, Bus etc.) with fixed path as NEMO application solved the handover latency problem and packet lost problem. We propose a seamless handover scheme with pre-registration to solve these problems. The proposed handover scheme can decrease handover latency and packet lost in session for NEMO. The aim is to procure seamless communication when the whole network is movement.

He has been involved in research on nonlinear phenomenon of piezoelectric materials and their application. Received his B.E. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Yamaguchi University in 1995. He is working at present for the University as a technical official. He has been involved in research on the telecommunication electronic circuits and the application of the piezoelectric materials. Received his B.E. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Yamaguchi University in 1995 and has been involved in research and development of the scanning nonlinear dielectric microscope system. He is at present in the Master's program in the Electrical Engineering Department of Kyushu University.

This paper describes a new technique for imaging the distribution of nonlinear dielectric constants of ferroelectric materials. This technique is based on the principle that the nonlinear (third-order) dielectric constants (third-rank tensor) are very sensitive to the state of the spontaneous polarization and the quality of the crystallization of materials, while the linear (second-order) dielectric constants (second-rank tensor) are insensitive to them. Applying this principle, a new microscope for measuring the distribution of nonlinear dielectric properties is developed. This new microscope is used to observe the distribution of the polarization of ferroelectric materials such as lead zirconate titanate (PZT) ceramic and piezoelectric polymer.

He has been engaged in research on simulation of the optical fiber soliton transmission and on the transmission system with flexibility in transmission speed. Graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering Yamanashi University in 1965 and received his M.S. degree in 1967. He received his Ph.D. degree later. In 1967 he became a Research Associate of the Department of Electronic Engineering Yamanashi University. In 1991 he became a Professor of Electronic and Information Engineering. He has been engaged in research on special function theory nonlinear circuits optical communication systems and LAN systems. In 1984 he received a Book Award from I.E.I.C.E. In 1990–91 he was on leave at Southampton University. He is a member of IEEE.

In the development of practical multimedia systems, greater capacity is desired in a long-distance large-capacity transmission system. A number of studies have been undertaken to develop a long-distance large-capacity system. Several long-distance transmission experiments for high-density transmission by wavelength demultiplexing method (WDM) have been reported recently. However, more of the experimental examples have reported on soliton transmission than on WDM systems. Hence, the former is considered more advanced. It is necessary to prepare a fiber of a length of approximately 10,000 km for ultralong-distance transmission experiment. Since this is difficult to obtain, repetitive experiments are often the case. However, such an experiment does not disclose the effects of dispersion and loss fluctuation in the fiber. In this paper, the effect of fluctuation in dispersion and loss in the fiber is studied by simulation so that the resilience of the soliton to the variations of the fiber characteristics is evaluated.
