With the ever-increasing complexity of Internet security issues, new attack types can be detected every day. The Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS) can quickly identify and deal with attacks. In this paper, we establish an intrusion detection model suitable for NIDS through incremental learning which can continuously learn the behaviors from new network flows. We utilize the UNSW_NB15 network intrusion dataset, and a portion of the data is used to train the initial model, while the remaining data simulates new network flows. Our proposed model can continuously learn new network flow patterns and adjust parameters without storing original data, while improving the model's training time and maintaining accuracy.

Childhood stunting is a condition anticipated to affect the growth potential of children under the age of five. With numerous stunting researches that have been conducted, stunting datasets are now widely available to facilitate stunting research. This provides an opportunity to implement machine learning (ML) principles to produce a broader insight or a novel technique in stunting prediction. A systematic literature review is necessary to discover the landscape of machine learning implementation in the application domain as a preliminary study for creating an effective research roadmap. This paper presents a systematic literature review (SLR) of 22 curated manuscripts that focuses on identifying the ML models applied in stunting research, as well as the datasets used in such studies that were published during 2017-2022. The SLR process found that ML principles have been applied in stunting research since 2017, and the diversity of ML implementation has become more varied in 2021-2022. In terms of ML models, XGBoost and Random Forest are recognized as the two most utilized models, and stunting prediction is the most common ML implementation. The majority of stunting research utilizing ML has been conducted in Indonesia. Although national survey data has been the most commonly utilized dataset in stunting research, researchers in Indonesia have shown a preference for utilizing data from regional or independent surveys. This study will be followed by developing a classifier model for stunted children using XGBoost and Random Forest algorithms. The model will be trained on a dataset generated from StuntingDB. © 2023 IEEE.

Enhanced-SETL: A multi-variable deep reinforcement learning approach for contention window optimization in dense Wi-Fi networks

In this paper, we introduce the Enhanced Smart Exponential-Threshold-Linear (Enhanced-SETL) algorithm, a new approach that uses the multi-variable Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) framework to simultaneously optimize multiple settings of the Contention Window (CW) in IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. Unlike traditional DRL methods that adjust only a single CW parameter, our innovative approach simultaneously optimizes both the CW minimum (CWmin) and CW Threshold (CWThreshold), significantly improving network traffic control. We utilize a Double Deep Q-learning Network (DDQN) for dynamic updates of these CW settings, broadcasted across the dense Wi-Fi networks. This dual adjustment method, coupled with dynamic, data-driven updates, not only enhances throughput, but also reduces collision rates, and ensures fairness access across both static and dynamic wireless environments. Enhanced-SETL achieves a throughput improvement ranging from 3.55% up to 43.73% and from 3.98% up to 30.15% in static and dynamic scenarios over standard protocols and state-of-the-art DRL models, while maintaining a fairness index near 99% across diverse stations, showcasing its effectiveness and adaptability in various network conditions. © 2024

The purpose of this research work on medical image analysis is to identify and diagnose knee osteoarthritis (OA) utilizing medical images by applying machine learning techniques. Knee OA is a degenerative joint disease that is becoming more prevalent in aged people worldwide. The study examines the effectiveness of several machine learning algorithms, including deep learning, to analyze medical images of knee OA, such as X-rays and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The research findings suggest that using machine learning algorithms might greatly improve the accuracy and efficacy of detecting knee OA, especially in its early stages. Moreover, machine learning algorithms can assist in the creation of specialized treatment plans by predicting the progression of the disease and recommending appropriate remedies. The findings of this study show how machine learning-based medical image analysis has the potential to enhance patient outcomes and quality of life for those with knee OA. Cancer detection diagnosis, neurological condition identification, and cardiovascular function analysis are a few instances of medical picture analysis employing machine learning. Moreover, image-guided treatments have been made more accurate and surgical planning has been made easier with the use of machine learning algorithms. Various methods are applied to achieve a test accuracy of 76.10% which is just 5% less than the accuracy provided by the Kellen-Lawrence Grading Scale. Overall, machine learning-based medical image analysis has the potential to revolutionize medical practice by facilitating earlier and more precise diagnosis, individualized treatment planning, and improved patient outcomes. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Human–computer interaction (HCI) focuses on designing efficient and intuitive interactions between humans and computer systems. Recent advancements have utilized multimodal approaches, such as electroencephalography (EEG)-based systems combined with other biosignals, along with deep learning to enhance performance and reliability. However, no systematic review has consolidated findings on EEG-based multimodal HCI systems. This review examined 124 studies published from 2016 to 2024, retrieved from the Web of Science database, focusing on hybrid EEG-based multimodal HCI systems employing deep learning. The keywords used for evaluation were as follows: ‘Deep Learning’ AND ‘EEG’ AND (‘fNIRS’ OR ‘NIRS’ OR ‘MEG’ OR ‘fMRI’ OR ‘EOG’ OR ‘EMG’ OR ‘ECG’ OR ‘PPG’ OR ‘GSR’). Main topics explored are: (1) types of biosignals used with EEG, (2) neural network architectures, (3) fusion strategies, (4) system performance, and (5) target applications. Frequently paired signals, such as EOG, EMG, and fNIRS, effectively complement EEG by addressing its limitations. Convolutional neural networks are extensively employed for spatio-temporal-spectral feature extraction, with early and intermediate fusion strategies being the most commonly used. Applications, such as sleep stage classification, emotion recognition, and mental state decoding, have shown notable performance improvements. Despite these advancements, challenges remain, including the lack of real-time online systems, difficulties in signal synchronization, limited data availability, and insufficient explainable AI (XAI) methods to interpret signal interactions. Emerging solutions, such as portable systems, lightweight deep learning models, and data augmentation techniques, offer promising pathways to address these issues. Implantable devices have significantly proved their reliability and effectiveness in the field of medicine as a result of their comprehensive assistance in a variety of areas that are related to the monitoring of patients and treatment in a variety of different ways. Furthermore, they contribute to the medical community's efforts to identify and prevent illnesses via the use of their services. The fact that the devices are powered by batteries, on the other hand, is a reliance that has a number of negative consequences. For instance, its depletion might result in hindrance during surgical procedures or leakage from the body. Implicit research has proposed the use of biocompatible harvesters that are capable of sustaining the device consumption by producing power. This methodology has been proposed as a means of reducing the size of the battery or, in some circumstances, completely eliminating its utilisation. In order to develop harvesting systems, a wide variety of biocompatible materials, including as piezoelectric and triboelectric materials, may be used. Ultrasonic transducers, electromagnet generators, and photovoltaic panels are just a few examples of the low-grade power sources that may be used to power implanted medical equipment via the utilisation of bioenvironmental energy harvesting. Ultrasonic transducers have been used in a variety of research projects as energy harvesters for the purpose of providing power to implanted medical devices. A piezoelectric oscillator was implanted under the goat's skin in order to collect the vibrational energy that was created by an ultrasonic transducer that was located outside of the power that was seen to be produced by the gearbox from the model that was provided. The Ministry of Health of Indonesia has referred to pre-eclampsia as one of the most severe diseases affecting women. As an urgency, it is crucial to administrate pre-eclampsia cases for disease prevention as a long-term national healthcare strategy. Regarding health science, case data was significant in developing research and innovation. However, the main problem regarding pre-eclampsia case administration is data handling, recording, and management incompetence. Hence, this research proposed a conceptual design of a database for pre-eclampsia case administration. The proposed design covered conceptual, logical, and physical design. We elaborate the concept into three concepts of pre-eclampsia disease: pre-treatment, treatment, and post-treatment. This study proposed a solution to gain more data and study pre-eclampsia disease in Indonesia. © 2023 IEEE.

Heart Disease remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide. It alarmingly rises at a quick rate, making early heart disease prediction crucial for effective prevention and timely intervention. Heart disease diagnosis is a difficult process that requires technical skills and accuracy to complete. With improvements in technology, computing has lent its voice to simplify the diagnosis of various health problems. Machine learning uses past or existing history to predict future results. Various machine learning techniques have been developed over the years and used in predicting heart diseases with various levels of performance. Identifying the best-suited machine learning technique to use for prediction purposes can be a challenging task. This research work analyses the performance of seven (7) machine learning techniques, comprising AdaBoost Algorithm, KNN, Logistic Regression, Naïve Bayes Classifier, Random Forest, SVM, and XGBoost. The heart disease dataset was downloaded from the UCI repository and analysed using Python programming language in the Jupyter Notebook environment. A comparative analysis of the seven (7) techniques was performed based on Accuracy, Precision, and Recall. From the results obtained, KNN, Random Forest, and XGBoost showed superior performance over the others with an accuracy of 100%, AdaBoost Algorithm followed with an accuracy of 92.2%, SVM followed with an accuracy of 91.71%, Naïve Bayes Classifier followed with an accuracy of 88.29% while Logistic Regression has the least accuracy of 86.34%. KNN, RF, and XGBoost outperformed AdaBoost, SVN, and LR. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This paper examines the effectiveness of image healing algorithms for virtual photo processing. The research makes a specialty of different forms of picture recovery algorithms, inclusive of side-retaining methods and regression-based totally methods and their outcomes on photo nice. It proposes a quantitative assessment framework based on a hard and fast of goal metrics for the overall performance of these algorithms. The assessment framework includes simulations to acquire sensible dimension consequences. Outcomes have shown that the regression-based techniques outperformed the brink-keeping techniques in phrases of picture constancy and sharpness. Offsets Reconstruction Method for Clock Skew Measurement Over High-Jitter Communication

Measuring clock skew of devices over a network fully relies on the offsets, the differences between sending and receiving times. Offsets that shape a thick line are the most ideal one as their slope is directly the clock skew sought. When some outliers separate from the thick line due to higher delay jitter, current advanced approaches use the lower bound or the majority of offsets to derive accurate clock skew. However, outliers in offsets that shape parallel dotted lines, reduce the availability of offsets in the lower region, and scatter widely the offsets from their majority zone. These conditions drive the current skew estimation approaches to lose their accuracy. This paper then developed a new method, which reconstructs back the outliers into their origin positions, in order to provide ideal offsets for clock skew measurement. The experimental evaluations have demonstrated that the clock skew accuracy of dotted-lines offsets tampered by outliers was improved from 2.1 to 0.9 ppm by the proposed reconstruction method. For a broader purpose, the reconstruction method has been adjusted to be implemented also on non-dotted-lines offsets. The robustness of the proposed method for this case has also been exhibited by the very ideal reconstructed offsets that shape like a thick line. © The Author(s) 2025.
