Team management is essential to achieve common goals. Although it sounds important, many organisations do not have appropriate framework to support developing an effective teamwork. As a result, organisations face high dissatisfactions, poor quality of work and high turnover. The article takes a case study of Spectrum Radio-Frequency Monitoring (SRFM) department, Ministry of Communication and Information, Pangkal Pinang, Riau. The SRFM has around 25 staff (divided into 6 task forces) are provided around 104 tasks to complete annually. There was no proper task management structure is found to manage those tasks. The stress level amongst staffs is quite along with dissatisfactions and high turnover. The article proposes improving collaboration mechanism by using MDA (gamification) method. The gamification is selected due to its popularity in promoting motivation and morale of staff in business. The outcome is expected to provide effective teamwork to reach common goals. © 2024 IEEE.

Coagulation/floculation as a key unit in the decentralized surface water treatment systems in upland rural areas of Vietnam: Results from a lab scale to a pilot scale system

Surface water is a primary water source for domestic water treatment systems in many countries around the world, especially in developing countries. The coagulation-flocculation process has been widely applied in water treatment systems due to low cost and easy-to-operate process. This study focuses on optimizing the operational conditions (dosage and pH) in the coagulation-flocculation process with different coagulants for the water supply in upland rural areas of Vietnam, from the lab scale to the pilot scale system. Two prehydrolyzed coagulants, polyaluminium chloride (PAC) and polyferric sulfate (PFS), and aluminum sulfate (alum), were used in the coagulation-flocculation testing. Response surface methodology (RSM) was applied to design the experiments, analyze the results, and optimize the response variables. The results showed that the quadratic regression models of PAC, PFS, and alum were statistically significant at the 95% confidence level (p < 0.05), and the p values of lack of fit for these models were insignificant (p > 0.05). The optimum conditions for 48.3% DOC and 92% turbidity removal using PAC were a dosage of 15 mg/L and a pH of 7.98. Similarity, 47.5% DOC and 90% turbidity removal were observed at 43.5 mg/L of PFS and pH 7.08. However, the lower removal efficiencies (37.2% DOC and 86.7% turbidity) were recorded at 60 mg/L of alum and pH 7.45. PAC and PFS were found to be more effective than alum in both DOC and turbidity removal from surface water. Notably, a combination of the coagulation process with aeration and a pre-filter system including a 1 micron polypropylene filter column, activated carbon, and cation exchange at the optimal operation conditions of coagulation through the RSM approach can be applied to treat Ba river water into domestic water that meets the national standard.

This study investigates the impact of a variety of mobile service quality dimensions on the e-satisfaction of customers in the Indonesian food and beverage mobile application sector. The data were collected from 400 active consumers of these applications through purposive sampling, utilising a quantitative methodology. The study identified critical service quality factors - application design, simplicity of use, ease of ordering, privacy, and contact - that have a substantial impact on the quality of mobile services. The research indicates that the most significant positive effects on the quality of mobile services are from enhanced application design and simplicity of use, with privacy and contact following closely behind. In contrast, the quality of the service is not substantially influenced by the convenience of ordering. Based on these findings, it is recommended that stakeholders in Indonesia's food and beverage sector concentrate on the enhancement of visual appeal, intuitive navigation, robust privacy measures, and accessible customer support in order to enhance customer satisfaction and experiences. © 2024 IEEE.

Purpose This study aims to analyze the difficulties observed in the management of three hydroelectric turbine projects developed by a large multinational company in the metal-mechanic segment, identifying those most critical. Design/methodology/approach Through a bibliographic search, difficulties throughout project management were identified. These difficulties were used as a research protocol to carry out three case studies in a hydroelectric turbine manufacturer. The projects selection aimed to contemplate different characteristics to encompass the diversity of their typologies. Data were analyzed through content analysis technique and the difficulties were ordered via Grey Relational Analysis (GRA). Findings Qualitative data analysis provided specific insights regarding the characteristics of each project. When analyzing the difficulties of hydroelectric turbine projects management via GRA, it is observed that those difficulties most evidenced were related to integration and communication, suppliers management and objectives definition. Originality/value The main contribution of this research lies in the sector under analysis. The literature about hydroelectric turbine projects is scarce. In addition, no similar studies were found in the literature.

The rising environmental challenges in waste management have prompted an urgent need for effective recycling initiatives. This study investigates the intention of Generation Z (Gen-Z) in Indonesia to participate in a Deposit Refund System (DRS), a system aimed at promoting recycling behaviors. Using a convergent mixed-method approach, quantitative data from 228 respondents were analyzed via Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to assess relationships between intention, distrust, environmental concern, and behavioral intention. Qualitative data analysis, employing vector embedding and k-means clustering, revealed key patterns and themes in Gen-Z's attitudes. Integration of qualitative and quantitative results through PLS-SEM provided a comprehensive understanding of Gen-Z motivations towards environmental sustainability. The results show that environmental concern positively impacts behavioral intention, while distrust was found to be statistically insignificant. This study offers practical and academic insights for policymakers to design more effective DRS initiatives. Future research could explore the long-term behavioral shifts resulting from DRS participation and the role of digital platforms in enhancing engagement. © 2024 IEEE.

Purpose This article aims to evaluate the integration level of a quality management system (QMS) and an environmental management system (EMS) in a tire manufacturer and propose a guide to evaluate the integration of these systems in companies. Design/methodology/approach The methodological strategies used in this research were literature review;and case study, with interviews to verify professionals' perception about benefits from integration. Data from interviews were analyzed through Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). Findings The results showed that the studied company has a simple level of integration, observing only some low intensity benefits. Thus, it was recommended that the company partially integrate its management systems (MSs) before evolving into something more complex. The literature and the findings of case study were used as basis for proposing a guide to evaluate MS integration. Originality/value Lessons learned throughout the study and the suggested guide can support other companies to assess the integration level of their QMS and EMS. Thus, the findings presented here can be useful for researchers and managers.

Electrochemical degradation of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in water with persulfate catalyst support

The application of emerging technologies in the treatment of urgent pollutants such as per-/polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), especially perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), has become a prominent trend. Though biological solutions have not yet brought about the expected efficiency and economic value, advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) like electrochemical oxidation with persulfate catalyst (EC/PS) have shown great promise. In order to shorten the time and improve the efficiency of pollution treatment, this study applied advanced optimization methods such as Plackett-Burman (6 factors, 12 runs) and response surface methodology with central composite design (RSM-CCD) (3 variables, 20 runs). The objective is to optimize the treatment of PFOA and PFOS in artificial wastewater by the EC/PS process, resulting in higher efficiency and more practical application. The PFOA and PFOS concentrations were measured on liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MSMS) system. The treated water quality and degradation pathway of PFOA by the EC/PS method were also shown. The experimental results showed that Ti/BDD was highly optimized in the removal of PFOA and PFOS using the EC/PS method. With the optimal conditions and parameters including current density (CD) at 9.5 mA/cm2, NaCl concentration at 2 g/L, and persulfate (PS) concentration at 4.2 g/L, the treatment efficiency of PFOA and PFOS of the prediction equations reached 93.32 % and 94.93 %, respectively. The quality of the treated water with parameters of PFOA, PFOS, chlorine (Cl2), fluoride (F-) was lower than the maximum value according to the EPA drinking water regulations [1], thereby showing that the potential for applying this technology in practice is very large. In addition, the main degradation pathway of PFOA was also demonstrated through hydrolysis reaction when recording by-products such as C7F15H (m/z 370) and perfluoroheptanoic acid (PFHpA) (C6F13COO-, m/z 363) during the

PurposeThe purpose of this paper was to understand the difficulties related to asset management observed by experts in Brazilian organizations in light of the requirements outlined in the ISO 55001:2014 ***/methodology/approachA survey was performed with asset management experts. The collected data were analyzed using frequency analysis, hierarchical cluster analysis and fuzzy technique for order preference by similarity to deal solution (TOPSIS).FindingsBased on data analysis, the most critical difficulties observed were related to managing and controlling the impact of changes in the company that affect asset management objectives;to the committing to and supporting the asset management system by the top management of the organization;to manage the processes for dealing with risks and opportunities for the asset management system and plans, and correcting failures in asset performance;and to plan and conduct actions in an integrated manner to identify and minimize adverse impacts associated with the asset management system, and afterwards verifying their ***/valueThe findings of this study have important theoretical and practical contributions, since they indicate the most critical points observed in asset management in Brazil, which can be used as a source for future research and by professionals to prioritize difficulties in future planning and develop action plans to overcome them. The step-by-step methodological approach presented in this study provides professionals and researchers with a replicable method of identifying potential asset management difficulties in a given specific reality.

Purpose: This viewpoint aims to present reflections on the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic scenario and the entrepreneurial potential of Brazilian students. Guidelines are proposed to support debates in the academic environment and better prepare future entrepreneurs to the labour market. Design/methodology/approach: Since this is a viewpoint article, some statements presented here are characterised by the authors' opinions. However, for a better foundation, bibliographic research related to the theme was carried out. Findings: In the authors' point of view, the COVID-19 pandemic scenario may negatively influence the decisions of Brazilian students that are characterised as potential future entrepreneurs. Educators can use the guidelines presented here to conduct debates with students in order to clarify aspects related to profile, behaviour and other issues. Originality/value: By understanding better entrepreneurial aspects in the COVID-19 pandemic scenario, Brazilian students can make better decisions. Purpose This study aims to discuss the difficulties faced by two large Brazilian industrial companies in technological innovation management. Design/methodology/approach Initially, a literature review is carried out using meta-synthesis technique to consolidate an expanded and detailed framework that complemented and dialoged with the difficulties presented by Oslo Manual. The difficulties presented in this framework were used as an instrument to conduct two case studies. Findings There were several findings, especially the adherence to the structured framework and the identification of short-term management and inflexibility of the regulatory environment as relevant difficulties for both companies. Originality/value The understanding of these difficulties can contribute to optimizing manufacturers performance in innovation processes. Although only two companies were analyzed, their magnitude and relevance in the sectors they belong to should be highlighted. The information presented here can greatly contribute to expanding the debates about the management of innovation by companies in emerging countries.
