Poly(3-hexylthiophene)/[6,6]-phenyl C61-butyric acid methyl ester bulk hetero-junction photovoltaic cells doped with indigo dye as a p-type solar collector were studied. Doping indigo increases the absorption of the visible light spectrum, as determined using ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry analysis. The photocurrent was measured in air under a solar simulator with AM 1.5G illumination (100 mW/cm2). The best photovoltaic efficiency obtained was 2.55% after doping indigo into the cell. © 2012 Elsevier B.V.

Due to the complexity of contemporary practice, top-tier structural engineering firms hold the master's degree as the minimum level of education for new hires. In addition, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) recommends a master's degree or the equivalent of 30 credits beyond a bachelor's degree as part of the minimum body of knowledge for licensed professional engineers. Finally, students whose end goal is a career in professional practice have indicated a preference for graduate programs focused on design knowledge essential for the advancement of structural engineering practice. These needs provided the opportunity for the creation of a new professional master's program in structural engineering at Lehigh University. Launched in summer 2008, the program is led by a full-time professor of practice with industry design experience and guided by an executive advisory board, composed of representatives from all areas of the building design and construction profession. The hallmark of the 30-credit, 10-month program is a 9-credit, 3-course design project sequence in which student teams design a real-world structure from initial concept to final construction documents. An individual project assignment, as well as technical elective courses, allows students to tailor the program to their unique interests and career goals. A laboratory class provides hands-on learning of structural behavior. Interaction with industry leaders through seminars, field trips, and externships provides students ample opportunity to network with professionals and gain an understanding of their chosen industry. FinGAT: Financial Graph Attention Networks for Recommending Top-K Profitable Stocks

Financial technology (FinTech) has drawn much attention among investors and companies. While conventional stock analysis in FinTech targets at predicting stock prices, less effort is made for profitable stock recommendation. Besides, in existing approaches on modeling time series of stock prices, the relationships among stocks and sectors (i.e., categories of stocks) are either neglected or pre-defined. Ignoring stock relationships will miss the information shared between stocks while using pre-defined relationships cannot depict the latent interactions or influence of stock prices between stocks. In this work, we aim at recommending the top-K profitable stocks in terms of return ratio using time series of stock prices and sector information. We propose a novel deep learning-based model, Financial Graph Attention Networks (FinGAT), to tackle the task under the setting that no pre-defined relationships between stocks are given. The idea of FinGAT is three-fold. First, we devise a hierarchical learning component to learn short-term and long-term sequential patterns from stock time series. Second, a fully-connected graph between stocks and a fully-connected graph between sectors are constructed, along with graph attention networks, to learn the latent interactions among stocks and sectors. Third, a multi-task objective is devised to jointly recommend the profitable stocks and predict the stock movement. Experiments conducted on Taiwan Stock, S&P 500, and NASDAQ datasets exhibit remarkable recommendation performance of our FinGAT, comparing to state-of-the-art methods. © 1989-2012 IEEE.

Lung disease, especially Tuberculosis (TBC), placed the highest death rate in Indonesia. Tuberculosis (TB) in Indonesia is ranked second after India. Therefore, it is important to reduce or early detection of the lung disease, to prevent this disease and speed up handling. The system can recognize the disease lung identification, and the system applied as standalone system. In this work, the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) approach for identifying diseases lung identification is proposed. The Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) applied to process the stethoscope sounds which will used as input to the CNN. The performance of the proposed system has been investigated and resulted. The accuracy of 99% and 98%, for training and testing accuracy respectively. Furthermore, the system accurately detects lung diseases identification. © 2024 IEEE.

Denitrifying polyphosphate accumulating organisms (DPAOs), are capable of nitrate and/or nitrite (NO2-) reduction coupled to P uptake when subjected to alternating anaerobic/anoxic conditions. However, strong accumulation of nitrous oxide (N2O) has been previously observed in DPAO enrichments under high NO2- concentrations. To date, denitrification capability and denitrifying P uptake rates of DPAOs using different electron acceptors after long-term exposure to elevated NO2- concentration hasn't been examined. To address this knowledge gap, we operated a lab-scale SBR under alternating anaerobic/anoxic conditions with high nitrite feed for >2 years. Ex-situ batch assays were performed to clarify capacity for reduction of various nitrogen oxides and P uptake of the DPAOs enrichment culture. These batch assays revealed distinct nitrogen oxides reduction and denitrifying P uptake capabilities. High-throughput 16S rRNA sequencing combined with qPCR assays revealed the selection of putative DPAOs and other potential denitrifying microbial consortia responsible for N2O accumulation under high nitrite-feeding regimes. One of the causes of increasing greenhouse gases is the increase in CO2 emissions produced from both the industrial sector, transportation sector, and settlement sector. The settlement sector also contributes to CO2 emissions based on household activities. Research on carbon footprint from settlement activities is currently focusing on carbon footprints from household energy use both electricity and heat energy for cooking and have not taken into account the activities of vehicle fuel use, domestic waste, and water consumption. This paper aims to conduct a literature study on matters relating to the method of estimating the carbon footprint of settlement activities and influencing variables. The results of this study are a framework for estimating the more comprehensive carbon footprint of housing activities by adding private vehicle fuel consumption, waste generation, and water consumption in addition to the use of fuel for cooking and electricity use. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2019.

Biogas production processes from tapioca wastewater have several problems that cause the biogas production is not optimal, such as pH drop at beginning of the process because the rate of acid formation is too fast and the rate of starch wastewater degradation is too slow. Therefore, to obtain optimal biogas production it is required two-stage reactor. The purposes of this research were to (i) study the influence of one stage fermentation and two stage fermentation on biogas production, (ii) study the effect of buffer Na2CO3 on biogas production, and (iii) study the effect of methanogenic bacteria concentration on biogas production from cassava starch effluent. The first method of our research was hydrolysis process by "Saccharomyces cereviceae" as substrate activator. The second is the arrangement of pH and the last is process of methane production. The results showed that the highest biogas production is achieved at concentration of methanogenic bacteria 20% (v/v) that is equal to 2458 ml. At concentration of 8% (v/v) and 15% (v/v), biogas production was 2105 ml and 2117 ml. The addition of Na2CO3 can extend to 16 days with accumulation of 372 ml. While without the addition of buffer, biogas production period was only 9 days with accumulation of 620 ml. In semi continuous process, the analysis carried out every 3 days. Highest biogas production achieved in the variable addition of yeast with the accumulation 9329 ml. Without yeast, accumulation of biogas was 6831 ml. Yeast is use as substrate activator so it can accelerate the hydrolysis process and increased biogas production. The addition of Na2CO3 is increase the alkalinity so the pH drop did not occur early in the process. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2018.

The increasing of energy supply trend in Indonesia seems to be a serious problem in the implementation of sustainable development. This study case research aimed to determine the potential of energy efficiency in school environment. The subject of this research was SMA N 1 Ambarawa, located on Semarang Regency of Central Java, Indonesia. The data collection was done by used documentation, observation and interview method. The results showed that the average of electrical energy consumption in this school reached 11022.008 kWh/month, which resulted in the emergence of secondary emissions of CO2 by 9644.257 kg CO2/month. Overall, the consumption of electrical energy in this school was very efficient, with an Intensity of Energy Consumption (IEC) average 1.7957 kWh/m2/month. In this case, the implementation of short-term no cost, long-term no cost, middle-cost, short-term high cost and long-term high-cost recommendation could save electricity energy sequent by 3.159%;7.536%;9.499%;35.278%-36.626%;and 42.084%. In conclusion, the school environment had a big potential of energy efficiency that could reduce the energy consumption and CO2 gas emissions. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.

Organic waste, fruit waste and vegetable waste are the best substrate to produce biogas. Waste management system for producing biogas can be used as a solution with the waste problem by converting the wastes into biogas. This study is expected to review of the effect of substrate type and substrate composition for the volume of biogas produced. In this study, materials consist of fruit wastes (oranges, apples, papayas, and tomatoes), cow ruminant, urea, cow dung, Na2CO3 buffer, NH4HCO3 buffer, and distilled water with variations of the substrate materials, F/ W, and the buffer types. The addition of cow manure and Na2CO3 buffer with 1:2 of F/W, production of biogas is greater than variable which is used NH4HCO3 buffer and without the addition of cow dung. Variables with addition of cow dung with 1:1 of F/W and using Na2CO3 buffer, the result is greater than the variable using the same buffer but without the addition of cow dung and variables with 1:1 of F/W with the addition of cow dung and Na2CO3 buffer and variables with the same feed and without the addition of cow dung produce more biogases than variable which is the using NH4HCO3 buffer, 1:1 of F/W and without the addition of cow dung. © The Authors, published by EDP sciences, 2018.

Biogas is a renewable energy source that can be used as an alternative fuel to replace fossil fuel such as oil and natural gas. This research aims to analyze the impact of NaOH (Sodium hydroxide) and enzyme usage on the production of rice husk biogas using Solid State Anaerobic Digestion (SS-AD). Generally, SS-AD occurs at solid concentrations higher than 15%. The waste of rice husk are used as substrate with a C/N ratio of 25% and the total of solid that are used is 21%. Rice husk contains high lignin, therefore it is handled with chemical and biological treatment. The chemical preliminary treatment was using NaOH with various concentrations from 3%, 6% and 9% while the biological preliminary treatment was using enzyme with various concentration from 5%, 8%, and 11%. The biogas that is produced then measured every two days during 60 days of research with the biogas volume as a parameter observed. The result of the research shows that preliminary treatment with NaOH and enzyme can increase the production of biogas. The highest biogas production was obtained by the NaOH pretreatment using 6% NaOH which was 497 ml and by enzyme pretreatment using 11% enzyme which was 667,5 ml. © 2018 The Authors, published by EDP sciences.
