As we already know, the IoT (Internet of Thing) system has developed and is used in many fields, such as agriculture, security, industry etc. The IoT system requires real time monitoring and this is one of the problems that exists today. Transfering data from the sensor via the internet network to a monitoring device must be less than 300 ms. One process that can cause non-fulfillment of these requirements is a method for displaying the data on a monitor. There are several methods for delivering data from the sensor to a monitor. This paper has been compared between two methods, namely the polling method and the websocket method. The experiment was conducted to compare these two method. The result obtained that the websocket method was better in presenting real time data compared to the polling method. It can be shown in bandwidth usage and memory usage. In the experiment was found that the average of bandwidth usage is 478KB for polling method, and 91KB for web socket method in web based and the memory consumption of websocket less as much as 16% compared to polling method. In android smartphone the average bandwidth usage is 5.1 KB for web socket method and 15 KB for polling method and the memory consumption of websocket less as much as 22% compared to polling method.

Most of the oil palm smallholders operate independently. As a result of this lack of support and assistance, oil palm owned by independent smallholders has the lowest productivity compared to large private (corporation) plantations and large state plantations. In addition, smallholder-owned plantations often operate without paying attention to sustainability aspects. There is a need for an effective, efficient, and user-friendly mentoring tool for oil palm farmers that are accessed independently. The Android-based platform was developed by applying an expert system to support increased production of oil palm cultivation for smallholders. Several stages of the expert system implementation, including the identification of planters and land profiles, were carried out using the direct interview method. The expert system includes land preparation management, planting material selection, seeding, weeds control, pests and diseases, fertilization, harvesting and transport, plantation administration, chat platforms, and data scrapping from data providers. The type of expert system is a data-driven Decision Support System (DSS).

The production gap between oil palm smallholder-owned plantations and corporations shows a real problem in the national palm oil industry. To reduce the gap, user-friendly assistance for smallholder-owned plantations is needed for the cultivation of sustainable palm oil production. Android-based software can be a platform for bridging the transfer of knowledge and technology, transfer of problems, and transfer of solutions between planters and experts. The platform development was formulated in five stages which began with Learning Management System (LMS) application development, identification of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and Best Management Practices (BMP) materials, development of digital contents, uploading the digital content to the LMS server, and dissemination. The curriculum in the application platform was prepared based on the needs of the growers according to the identification results of the farmers' profiles. The curriculum consists of GAP and BMP material blocks. Each block was divided into discussion topics. The digital contents related to GAP and BMP were set in the LMS, which was built using Moodle platform.

One of the issues of current attendance system is not being able to record employees who working outside the office. This work discussed a solution designed to solve common operational project problems, especially in attendance and tasklist management activity in companies who has employee working outside of the office. Considering the number of employees who have to visit various places, conventional attendance system is no longer feasible as be the solution. Similar problem occured in tasklist management, with so many employees to manage in different places will make it difficult for Project Manager to assign task and monitor the progress. Based on the problems, solusion was then designed using SDLC Waterfall using the field research data. This research conclude that by using the proposed application, complexity can be reduced and effectiveness can be improved in performing day-to-day operational task and make sure that they can be monitored. Moreover, the number of employee who responsible to make reports of projects and attendance can be reduced about 50%.

We propose a ten-yearMars mission to establish Earth-independence and support efficient, safe, and sustainable science and exploration goals. The campaign begins with a series of precursor missions, starting with the Artemis program, followed by robotic missions to performsite surveys and selection, de-risk technologies, and to start stockpiling in-situ water and propellant. Robotic Cargo Starships would depart first in 2035 to deliver and deploy approximately 5,800 tons of habitats, nuclear microreactors, farmmodules, manufacturing and ISRU systems. In 2040, two Crew Starships carrying 36 persons would land onMars to establish two close-proximity villages. The lifecycle cost is estimated at $81 billion, with a peak annual cost of $6.6 billion. To meet RASC-AL competition requirements, intended to motivate the exploration of highly self-reliant architecture concepts, resupply from Earth was constrained to only 5 metric tons every two years and minimum surface endurance was set at 7 years. The risks to human life and to critical systems increase exponentially over a minimally-resupplied, 7-10 year mission toMars. Our approach focused on identifying capabilities to mitigate known and unknown risks. Using a high-fidelity crew time model, we found that large architectures, with their economies of scale and productivity gains from specialization, are essential to robustly support the necessary capabilities. The model also shows that small 7-year missions of 12 persons or less cannot provide value in terms of free surface traverse time for science and exploration. Given the necessity of a large, complex architecture, we then sought out efficiencies and synergies (value engineering) in order to make the mission feasible and affordable. In the process, we identified more benefits that are enabled only by large missions, including the creation of a true community on Mars with sufficient social complexity for humans to thrive, and the geopolitically compelling option to inclu

Bacterial cellulose (BC) is a biodegradable nanoscale film produced by microorganisms, which possesses great mechanical properties and biocompatibility. In this study, we produced foaming BC (FBC) utilizing foam medium with different concentrations of agar. In addition, carvacrol was loaded into the agar/FBC to establish active packaging material. Evaluation by characterization tests indicated that agar/FBC provided lower crystallinity (59.8%∼71.4%) and a high swelling ability (94.7%∼97.9%) compared to BC (92.2% and 96.1%). The 1.5% agar/FBC with carvacrol group exhibited the significantly highest antimicrobial properties against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Moreover, release measurements showed that greater agar addition contributed to higher protein and carvacrol release extents out of the film. Finally, a sea bass packaging test indicated that carvacrol with 1.5% agar/FBC presented a higher antimicrobial ability against Shewanella putrefaciens, great inhibition of lipid oxidation (67.5%), and a slower spoilage degree (49.8%) which suggested that agar/FBC with carvacrol has potential for active food packaging. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Cooking oil fumes (COFs) comprised of a mixture of cancer-causing volatile organic aldehydes (VOAs), particularly trans, trans-2,4-decadienal (t,t-DDE), 4-hydroxy-hexenal (4-HHE), and 4-hydroxy-nonenal (4-HNE). Monitoring toxic VOAs levels in people exposed to different cooking conditions is vital to predicting the cancer risk. For this purpose, we developed a fast tissue extraction (FaTEx) technique combined with UHPLC-MS/MS to monitor three toxic VOAs in mice lung tissue samples. FaTEx pre-treatment protocol was developed by combining two syringes for extraction and clean-up process. The various procedural steps affecting the FaTEx sample pre-treatment process were optimized to enhance the target VOAs’ extraction efficiency from the sample matrix. The pandemic has shown viral capacity in massive spreading and environmental adaptability for years. It has infected millions of people with several symptoms leading to millions of mortality worldwide. Its fast-spreading capacity, unpredictability prognosis and variants appearance are leading big threats, particularly to the health facilities. Therefore, appropriate health protection equipment, including adequate and safe decontamination procedures, is required to support the facilities in overcoming potential future contaminating pathogens. Unfortunately, only a few studies evaluated the utilization of medical decontamination devices. Rapid and massive manufacturing of decontamination devices without further and adequate post-monitoring may have several side effects. Therefore, careful and continuing consideration and evaluation studies are necessary to maintain the devices’ quality and performance. This study aims to evaluate the ability of UV lights as laboratory devices to impair viral components. Clinical RNA samples were provided by the COVID-19 laboratory examiner as blinded samples without any subject information. SARS-CoV2 RNA (a viral representative RNA material) extract was exposed to 5 different UV lights, with different distances and exposure duration. The exposed RNA was then sequentially used as a cDNA template and DNA amplification. Amplification products were visualized by electrophoresis and densitometry analysis. Visualization and densitometry analysis showed that the UV-LED Nichia NCSU 334 had the most significant disruptive ability among the tested lights. The exposure duration and distance altered the effectiveness of UV light in damaging viral genetic material. UV-LED Nichia NCSU 334 could be suggested as an alternative UV source in a UV light-based disinfection system. This study proposed direct evidence for evaluating decontamination devices to ensure the effectiveness of the decontamination process.

Both morphological and metabolic imaging were used to determine how asymmetrical changes of thalamic subregions are involved in cognition in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). We retrospectively recruited 24 left-TLE and 15 right-TLE patients. Six thalamic subnuclei were segmented by magnetic resonance imaging, and then co-registered onto Positron emission tomography images. We calculated the asymmetrical indexes of the volumes and normalized standard uptake value ratio (SUVR) of the entire and individual thalamic subnuclei. The SUVR of ipsilateral subnuclei were extensively and prominently decreased compared with the volume loss. The posterior and medial subnuclei had persistently lower SUVR in both TLE cases. Processing speed is the cognitive function most related to the metabolic asymmetry. It negatively correlated with the metabolic asymmetrical indexes of subregions in left-TLE, while positively correlated with the subnuclei volume asymmetrical indexes in right-TLE. Epilepsy duration negatively correlated with the volume asymmetry of most thalamic subregions in left-TLE and the SUVR asymmetry of ventral and intralaminar subnuclei in right-TLE. Preserved metabolic activity of contralateral thalamic subregions is the key to maintain the processing speed in both TLEs. R-TLE had relatively preserved volume of the ipsilateral thalamic volume, while L-TLE had relatively decline of volume and metabolism in posterior subnucleus. © 2023, The Author(s).
