The amphiphilic block copolymers methoxypoly (ethylene glycol)-poly (å-caprolactone) (mPEG-PCL) was grafted to 2-hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) to produce watersoluble copolymers. Doxorubicin (DOX)-loaded nanoparticles were prepared by dialysis method and the sizes of nanoparticles were determined by dynamic light scattering (DLS) in solution. The size of the nanoparticles was in the range of 197.4 to 340.7 nm. Rhodamine 123 was used to probe the relative Pglycoprotein (P-gp) expression in human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7/WT and MCF-7/ADR. Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) showed a difference between the fluorescence images of DOX-loaded micelles and free DOX. For a quantitative basis, flow cytometry was done on both cell lines treated with DOX-loaded micelles and free DOX to compare a difference in effect. The amount of DOX-loaded micelles in MCF-7/ADR increased compared to that in the MCF-7/WT cells. This gives insight into how the micellar system developed in this study overcomes the multidrug resistance (MDR) effect.

Moving-coil loudspeakers typify the interdisciplinary nature of acoustics. In order to reproduce sound, these devices employ principles of electricity, magnetism, mechanics, and acoustics. The widespread use of loudspeakers has made them familiar to students and thus a valuable opportunity to introduce students to acoustics. In this paper, the authors demonstrate a loudspeaker-enclosure system that is easily built from scratch. The system is mostly constructed from common household supplies, making it low-cost and accessible to a wide audience. In addition, this project is well-suited for use by the K-12 educator as the content can be scaled to fit a variety of different academic levels. To this end, the speaker's design and construction will be presented and its relevance as an educational demonstration discussed. Finally, the loudspeaker will be auditioned and its performance demonstrated.

The U.S. department of Energy (DOE) is leading a number of initiatives, including one known as the Next Generation nuclear Plant (NGNP) project. One of the NGNP nuclear system concepts is the Very High Temperature (gascooled) Reactor (VHTR) that may be coupled to a hydrogen generating plant to support the anticipated hydrogen economy. For the NGNP, an efficient power conversion system using an Intermediate Heat Exchanger (IHX) is key to electricity and/or process heat generation (hydrogen production). Ideally, it's desirable for the IHX to be compact and thermally efficient. However, traditional heat exchanger design practices do not assure that the design parameters are optimized. As part of NGNP heat exchanger design and optimization project, this research paper thus proposes developing a recurrenttype Artificial Neural Network (ANN), the Hopfield Network (HN) model, in whichthe activation function is modified, as a design optimization approach to support a NGNP thermal system candidate, the Printed Circuit Heat Exchanger (PCHE). Four quadratic functions, available in literature, were used to test the presented methodology. The results computed by an artificially intelligent approach were compared to another approach, the Genetic Algorithm (GA). The results show that the HN results are close to GA in optimization of multi-variable second-order equations.

In this paper, a finger pose estimation method is presented. A direct use of fingers is useful in some applications which require handling of 3D position information. Our finger pose estimation method exploits anatomical constraints on finger motion and ring-shaped markers to achieve simple and practical measurements applicable to daily life situations. The use of anatomical constraints ensures that no exact placement of the markers is required.

IETF(Internet engineering Task Force) proposed the management mechanism of NEMO (network mobility) to support network mobility. The mobility management of NEMO is an extension of mobile IPv6 (MIPv6), and it inherits also all the drawbacks of MIPv6 such as inefficient routing, high handover latency, packet loss rate, and so on. The purpose of method which is based on the public transportations (e.g. Train, MRT, Bus etc.) with fixed path as NEMO application solved the handover latency problem and packet lost problem. We propose a seamless handover scheme with pre-registration to solve these problems. The proposed handover scheme can decrease handover latency and packet lost in session for NEMO. The aim is to procure seamless communication when the whole network is movement.
