The treatment of the Dyslexia Disorder requires patients to be disciplined and have a lot of reading practice so that they can reach a level of fluency and accuracy similar to people not diagnosed with this disorder. Due to cost or availability of health professionals, patients are not able, in general, to follow the treatment accordingly keeping a constant attendance. Besides, nowadays there are not many available tools to support health professionals towards dyslexia diagnosis. This paper presents an application developed for mobile devices, through which dyslexic users can practice their reading skills, turning the treatment accessible as well as helping health professionals as an auxiliary tool to diagnose their patients. This tool can be applied to support dyslexia diagnosis and to help people already diagnosed with this disorder training reading. To validate the use of this tool, the application was tested with some students of a private school in the city of São Paulo (Brazil). The results regarding usability aspects and the tool accuracy are also discussed. © 2016 IEEE.

The risk may be approached through two perspectives: a threat that, should it happen, will cause a negative effect on at least one project objective;and an opportunity, when it causes a positive effect on the project. Managing risks aims to increase the likelihood and impact of positive events and decrease the likelihood and impact of adverse events. In this article, an IT risk management model for service-oriented architecture is presented, formed from the use of the NIST 800-30, FAIR and OCTAVE Allegro. With this model is expected to ensure that any failure in the implementation of service-oriented architecture does not endanger the strategic objectives of the corporation. It is important to consider a related risk to operations-failures and security vulnerabilities or even design and development-may have an impact on the success of the corporation in a campaign or specific initiative or in your image. To demonstrate its use, an application is shown, so the main ideas and contributions of a model of IT risk management will applied in the implementation of service-oriented architecture.

A structured environment of IT risk management can influence an improving the flexibility and adaptability of business processes and information technology, including information systems in a secure manner. As with all other technologies, the adoption of SOA involves risk. These risks often manifest themselves during an implementation of the SOA solution and arise mainly due to insufficient detail in the SOA project. In this paper, we present the main ideas about the impact of IT risks on the life cycle of the implementation of service-oriented architecture and how we could minimize these impacts by using a model of managing IT risks.

Web services represent a way to share data and shall be treated as a solution for interoperability between heterogeneous systems. However, by having a public infrastructure, subject to attacks, security issues have become indispensable and challenging. To ensure the security of these applications, some safety specifications are generally used, such as the XML signature, XML encryption and WS-Security specifications. However, the application of these specifications may degrade the performance of these systems, especially the specification responsible for encryption, the XML encryption. This study besides investigating the causes of this problem, propose a solution designed to reduce the impact of this degradation, through the combined use of different cryptographic algorithms to encrypt SOAP messages.

The Information Technology has led many countries to adopt technologies based on internationally accepted standards for the disclosure of their financial statements. The XBRL technology is adopted to represent financial data (instances) and its semantics (which are based on XML Schema and XLink) to facilitate the exchange of data and increase the transparency of financial information available on the Internet. However, the occurrences of financial crime in large corporations require that computational solutions are designed to detect fraud. With such goal, this paper proposes a support tool for forensic financial analysis, based on OLAP query languages for the digital detection of fraud in financial reports represented in XBRL. Operators were incorporated at the Mondrian server, an OLAP tool, which supports queries in XML documents connected by XLink and XML Schema (the basis of XBRL) and also relational databases. The forensic operators are presented, extending those defined in LMDQL (Link-based and Multidimensional Query Language), and its use is demonstrated on a relational repository of multidimensional data (based on the XBRL specification). Since XBRL expresses the semantics of the financial data, whose relationships among accounting elements (described in XBRL Schema) are commonly defined in one or more linkbases, this repository contains tables that store the data referring to these relationships. To review the forensic operators a case study was realized using XBRL documents and linkbases provided by U.S. SEC, to which an ETL processing was applied for the data loading, making it possible to analyze the occurrence of fraud in large volumes of data presented.

There is no centralized system to undertake the management of academic records of federal educational institutions in Brazil, each one developed its solution within an environment in which there are several semantic vaguenesses. This context produces difficulties to the Ministry of Education to generate indicators that assist the management of Brazilian education. Thus, there is a need to develop a solution that semantically harmonizes the information generated by these educational institutions. To help solve this problem we propose the development of an ontology that performs the semantic mapping of the field of academic records of the Brazilian educational model. This ontology can serve as the semantic basis for the adjustment and development of data collection software's from the Ministry of Education of Brazil, as well as the academic management systems of each federal institution of education. However, before it is necessary to select or develop appropriate ontology development methodology for the domain of academic records of federal teaching institutions. This paper surveys the literature to identify the methodologies for creating ontologies and evaluates them in order to indicate the most appropriate for use in the construction of this ontology.

The processing of business rules usually occurs through its encoding in software applications, causing impacts that hinder their maintenance and reuse. In the financial area, the centralization of business rules represented in technology XBRL Formula promotes reuse by multiple applications and reduces these impacts. However, its use is not widespread and solutions that enable the applications reusing business rules with flexibility are restricted to proprietary solutions. This article proposes a framework for flexible processing of business rules defined with XBRL Formula from the use of services. Copyright © 2012 by the Association for computing Machinery, Inc. Teaching engineering and technology subjects involves conveying understanding of abstract information structures and processes such as complex telecommunications protocols, complex mathematical concepts, and data structures. These are multidimensional and can be difficult to grasp quickly. Supported by a Hewlett-Packard (HP) Technology for Teaching grant, the School of Engineering and Technology at National University has embarked on a project to enable students to grasp these complex concepts more quickly and easily, using continuous dialog among students and instructors as the structures are first introduced and then examined from multiple perspectives through real-time interaction among students, small groups, and instructors. HP Wireless Tablet PCs are used to discuss and experiment with diagrams and processes in realtime. This allows combining lectures and problem-solving sessions into a single class session. Our hypothesis is that: 1) an in-depth learning of theory is accomplished, and 2) student engagement is enhanced. Presentation of theory by the instructor is integrated with application while the theory is still in the student's short-term memory. Students no longer have to wait for a separate session such as a recitation session to apply the concepts. This approach often takes less time. In addition to accelerating the learning process, expert instructors find this approach more rewarding as students grasp new concepts more quickly. Analysis of data captured from both students and instructors are presented to support our hypotheses, and our results are compared with similar research carried out by other universities. In addition, the level of interaction enabled by the use of HP Tablets in on-line classes is discussed. The best teaching tools available in existing on-line teaching platforms are compared with the additional tools available in on-site courses when every student has a wireless Tablet PC and specific recommendations are made to on-line teachi
