According to the trend of worldwide car sales have grown up, this cause may increase accidents on the road due to human error. The self-driverless car has been developed to solve this problem. One task of the self-driverless car is traffic sign detection and recognition (TSDR), which will help drivers notify the traffic sign installed on the road in advance. Taiwan roads have specific traffic signs, and no Taiwan traffic sign public dataset is available. In this paper, our proposed object detection method was experimentally performed using YOLOv5s6 and YOLOv8s models on three different datasets, as Tsinghua-Tencent 100K (TT100k), the self-created Taiwan traffic sign (TWTS), and the hybrid dataset, which combine the traffic scenes between TT100k and TWTS dataset. The output results from each dataset and each model, which is trained on the same parameter, will be compared to validate the proposed method. The experiment results' comparison of the hybrid dataset between YOLOv5s6 and YOLOv8s models display the results of the mAP@.5 is about 65% and 76.2%, respectively, which means the performance of the YOLOv8s is higher than the YOLOv5s6 when using hybrid dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

FinGAT: Financial Graph Attention Networks for Recommending Top-K Profitable Stocks

Financial technology (FinTech) has drawn much attention among investors and companies. While conventional stock analysis in FinTech targets at predicting stock prices, less effort is made for profitable stock recommendation. Besides, in existing approaches on modeling time series of stock prices, the relationships among stocks and sectors (i.e., categories of stocks) are either neglected or pre-defined. Ignoring stock relationships will miss the information shared between stocks while using pre-defined relationships cannot depict the latent interactions or influence of stock prices between stocks. In this work, we aim at recommending the top-K profitable stocks in terms of return ratio using time series of stock prices and sector information. We propose a novel deep learning-based model, Financial Graph Attention Networks (FinGAT), to tackle the task under the setting that no pre-defined relationships between stocks are given. The idea of FinGAT is three-fold. First, we devise a hierarchical learning component to learn short-term and long-term sequential patterns from stock time series. Second, a fully-connected graph between stocks and a fully-connected graph between sectors are constructed, along with graph attention networks, to learn the latent interactions among stocks and sectors. Third, a multi-task objective is devised to jointly recommend the profitable stocks and predict the stock movement. Experiments conducted on Taiwan Stock, S&P 500, and NASDAQ datasets exhibit remarkable recommendation performance of our FinGAT, comparing to state-of-the-art methods. © 1989-2012 IEEE.

The motor impairments that stroke patients experience as a primary contributor to death and disability also impact their quality of life. Due to its characteristics as complex muscle signals, the Electromyograph (EMG) signal may be one of the markers in rehabilitation and a substitute that may be used to judge the success of rehabilitation. This study aims to analyze the complexity of EMG signals originating from the flexion of the flexor carpi radialis muscle with various weights indicating the rehabilitation state. It is important to monitor the progress of rehabilitation, and it can be done by using complexity analysis. The complexity of the EMG is examined in this work utilizing entropy measurement, namely Approximate Entropy (ApEn), Sample Entropy (SampEn), and Fuzzy Approximate Entropy (fApEn). We concentrated on the flexor carpi radialis muscle using flexion–extension exercises and varying the weight load. This study’s results indicate differences in the complexity of the EMG signal in the flexor carpi radialis when performing flexion–extension movements. Three differences showed a correlation based on the value of ApEN, SampEn, and fApEn. Complexity Analysis using fApEn showed the best correlation at R = 0.9966, which can be used to evaluate the rehabilitation process. The increase in weight was followed by the increase of the fApEn value, indicating that the value can be used to evaluate the rehabilitation process. The use of complexity analysis of EMG signal from flexion movement in flexor carpi radialis with various weights can be used to indicate the progress in the rehabilitation process. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

IT/OT convergence in the form of a Cyber-Physical System (CPS) presents an opportunity to apply recent Information Technology (IT) advancements to Operational Technology (OT). The IT/OT convergence introduces cyber security threats for OT. The OT communication protocols, for example, have limited or no security capabilities for securing data exchange beyond basic authentication. The RNG (Random Number Generator) function is crucial in PLC for producing the encryption keys or the initial seed for security algorithms. The software-based PRNG (Pseudo RNG) is the most common approach for RNG in OT, instead of hardware-based RNG. This study provides a systematic literature review of the most recent evidence in digital transformation to secure data exchange in smart factories, within OT, or across OT and IT settings. It does this by looking at the PRNG on PLC and identifying the most recent trends and best practices. The findings include up-to-date data on author countries' distribution, published journals, research trends, industries, and industry types. The findings also address whether data flow is encrypted or shared in plaintext to ensure secure data transfer between IT and legacy OT environments. This paper concludes that while there is known RNG implementation in the actual embedded system in ICS, there is no evidence in the literature for using RNG in ICS networks for PLC implementation to secure data transfer with encryption. © 2024 IEEE.

Digital content industry, encompassing areas such as digital games, computer animation, digital audio-visual applications, and digital art, plays a pivotal role in today's and future developmental trends. Maya 3D software stands out as a crucial development tool in these domains. However, the multitude of built-in tools in Maya 3D can lead to overly complex interfaces, impacting development efficiency for software developers. To address this issue, this paper designs a digital toolkit for Maya 3D software, presented in a Menu Bar format. This toolkit offers features like naming, sorting, categorization, and automatic saving to JSON files for future use. Through a crossover experimental design, this paper investigates the impact of this proposed toolkit on 3D software developers' individual work performance, work engagement, and stress perception. Results shows a significant positive influence of that toolkit on software developers, particularly in enhancing work performance. It means that the proposed digital toolkit effectively improves the performance of software developers' work and reduces their stress during the software development process. © 2024 IEEE.

Vision-based neural networks as artificial intelligence models have been critical in many manufacturing industries, including automotive, food, and aerospace. Machine vision and deep learning have provided practical, promising, and accessible innovations to address many problems during manufacturing and diagnostics. Recent studies offer beneficial results in implementing industrial artificial intelligence systems that require determining, comparing, and evaluating optimal technological solutions. The aerospace industry has to deal with the problem of diagnosing critical components that continually need the expertise of a trained human being. On the other hand, automatic diagnostics are becoming a critical technology to deal with this problem. However, these systems require a particular configuration of computer vision algorithms which, in the case of turbine trench-filling components, have yet to be added to the literature. Considering the above, we report in this paper a new methodology that uses a pre-trained deep neural network framework available online to automatically diagnose geometric nonconformities in aeronautical components that protect the turbines from vibrations and reduce noise from the engines to the aircraft deck. The method is based on the following stages: a computer vision system with a monochrome camera to acquire images, training of deep neural networks with transfer learning, and a stage to analyze nonconformities automatically. In addition, a benchmark of several pre-trained deep neural networks is presented to address the problem. According to the experimental results, the YOLO deep neural network topology significantly contributes to automatic diagnosis with high precision and exact rate. Finally, we show that integrating deep neural networks with control graphs is a promising strategy to optimize online diagnostics in the production lines of the aeronautical industry. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland

Sleep is the natural state of relaxation for human being. Sleep quality is an essential yet frequently neglected aspect of sleep in general. Sleep quality is essential because it allows the body to restore itself and prepare for the next day. The standard method for evaluating sleep quality was subjective evaluation. Actigraphy devices, which can measure the sleep cycle, are now widely available. This study developed a method using Fuzzy Logic and an actigraphy device to measure and classify sleep quality. The fuzzy logic method was developed in several stages, which are determining the sleep quality measurement parameters, constructing the fuzzy set for each input variable, and developing the fuzzy rules. To evaluate the proposed fuzzy model, five individuals were invited to participate in the experiment and required to complete the PSQI subjective sleep questionnaire. The evaluation result shows that our proposed Fuzzy model achieves lower error compared to the existing method. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Onset detection is a fundamental task in music information retrieval (MIR). Classical approaches using onset detection functions (ODFs) and hand-crafted peak-picking methods are outperformed by those utilizing neural networks, which are considered state-of-the-art. However, these methods bring much more computational costs and thus can be unfavored when implementing onset detections on low-performance devices. Previous work utilizing both an ODF and a recurrent neural network (RNN) provides another option as a trade-off between accuracy and processing speed. However, it only used one single ODF for the input of the network. In the present study, we propose a novel method utilizing multiple ODFs and an RNN fusing these ODFs, together with several techniques in training the network and peak-picking. Our proposed method outperformed previous work by approximately 1% at the cost of a halved processing speed, serving as another option for trading-off between accuracy and speed. One of our future works is looking for other ODFs that can be both fast-calculating and beneficial to accuracy. © 2022 ACM.

This paper proposes a method to estimate the posture of an athlete moving on a vast field in a sporting event using a pan-tilt-zoom camera. In order to estimate the posture of an athlete on a sports field from a dynamic video sequence, our method extracts image features to search correspondence points among successive frames and computes the homography transformation matrix that compensates for changes the camera parameters (e.g., angle of view and posture). The effectiveness of this method is qualitatively verified using MLB TV broadcast video. The accuracy and error factors are also quantitatively verified by CG simulation. One strategy for emission reduction in Indonesia is the dedieselization program, replacing diesel power plants with renewables. Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) type Small Modular Reactor (SMR) is also a consideration. This study aims to compare fuel performance in SMRs. Four fuel types with varying fissile and fertile nuclides but equal fissile mass percentages were assessed: U235- U238, U235-Th232, U233-U238, and U233-Th232, using PIJ SRAC 2006 and JENDL 4.0. Parameters include neutron multiplication factor, conversion ratio, and isotope production. Results indicated that U233-U238 has a highest initial neutron multiplication factor, 1.55. Substituting uranium-238 with thorium-232 boosts neutron flux and conversion, reducing nuclear proliferation risk. While initial neutron multiplication may not be highest, thorium-232 can produce uranium-233 with high initial neutron multiplication factor. This research aids fuel selection for Indonesia SMR dedieselization program. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
