We propose a visible light communication system using a commercial camera that achieves communication and positioning simultaneously, which is essential for intelligent transport systems (ITS). The transmitter (Tx) emits the data as fast-blinking light of the LED. The receiver (Rx) captures the signal using a rolling-shutter sensor with a cross-screen filter. Different from the previous system without a cross-screen filter, which can only achieve short-range and single-user communication, the proposed system can achieve long-range communication by diffusing the incoming light in a specific direction using a cross-screen filter. Furthermore, the proposed system has the potential to achieve multi-user communication and positioning, which used to require a high-speed camera, using a commercial camera. We evaluated the performance of the proposed system in indoor experiments. The experimental results suggest that the proposed system can improve communication range compared to the previous system. © 2021 IEEE.

Extreme environments, such as space and underwater, are difficult for humans to enter because they involve risks, hence it is necessary to employ autonomous robots instead of humans. When robots fail in extreme environments, it is essential for the robot to automatically recover control following the rules of failure because humans cannot repair the robot directly. Reinforcement learning is expected to automatically acquire the control rule;however, the retrieval of the control rule requires significant trial-and-error. Imitation learning cannot acquire the control rule if no suitable expert data exist. Methods combining imitation learning and reinforcement learning reduce the number of trial-and-errors;however, they are still not effective against robot failure because these methods cannot utilize expert data effectively. This paper proposes a reinforcement learning method that efficiently recovers control performance from failures by utilizing both the control rules prepared by the designer and multiple discriminators to calculate measures similar to expert data. Experimental results show that the proposed method recovers the control performance with fewer episodes than the conventional method. The main contribution of the proposed method is its efficiency against robot failure through utilizing expart data prepared for failure by the designers for imitation learning. © 2022 IEEE.

In cooperative multi-agent systems, efficient coordination among agents is important when accomplishing tasks. VFFAC is a method that learns the communication system between agents and their interactions with the environment to obtain policies with high performance. However, this method results in decreased performance of policy in environments with a delay in communication. Furthermore, there is no formulation of the control problem of a cooperative multi-agent system with communication delays in unknown environments. In this study, we formulated a decision-making problem in a cooperative multi-agent system with an unknown environment model and a certain length delay in communication. We also propose a method to handle communication delays by using the history of information obtained through communication. We demonstrated that the proposed method successfully learns policy with high rewards through simulated experiments in an environment with a communication delay. © 2022 The Society of Instrument and Control Engineers - SICE.

We propose an underwater visible light communication (VLC) system for use in drones. The transmitter modulates a message using phase-shift keying (PSK) and emits the signal as LED fast-blinking light. The receiver captures this pattern with a CMOS image sensor using a rolling-shutter effect, and demodulates PSK. In existing VLC systems, rolling-shutter effect is used to transmit baseband signals;this system transmits a passband signal tolerant of low-frequency optical interference noise. System performance was evaluated in test-tank experiments. Findings suggested that the VLC system with PSK outperformed that using on-off keying when noise frequency did not exceed carrier frequency. © 2020 IEEE.

The use of instant messaging (IM) application is very communal among smartphone users, as it delivers ease in interaction and communication. The speed at which technologies, growth, and expansion of networks infrastructure for high-speed data networks (e.g. wifi, 4G, etc.) are changing and the high number of IM applications are available. IM application usage is significantly escalating, also for doing illegitimate purposes, particularly to organize and coordinate criminal acts. They are practically exploited by the criminality groups involved when they target and interact with the victims, or try to run away from criminal occurrences. By systematically conducting a review to understand and to investigate IM applications topic coming from a number of scientific sources (e.g. manuscripts, metadata, files, etc.), a broader picture and opportunity to regain the valuable evidence in the investigation is academically provided. © 2018 IEEE.

Patients with knee arthropathy suffer from pain owing to damage at the knee joint cartilage and experience difficulty in walking as the condition worsens. As one of treatments of knee arthropathy, an implantation of cellular cartilage has been performed. After implantation of cellular cartilage, the knee joint should avoid overweight to prevent cell damage form body weight and apply appropriate mechanical stress to articular cartilage to promote cartilage regeneration. Therefore, a weight support system which can adjust the amount of weight in everyday use is required. This study aims to develop an in-clothes body weight support system to protect the knee joint during daily walking to support knee arthropathy treatment and recovery in regenerative medicine, and confirm basic performance of the system through experiments with able-bodied person. The system had frame structure with two-node link from the groin to the foot with the user's knee joint as the center of rotation. It consisted of load-bearing seat, height adjustment mechanism, thigh cuff, mechanical knee joint, and, ground reaction force sensor shoes, and was designed to be sufficiently thin to fit inside clothes. In the 10-Meter walking test, the system could adjust the amount of supporting weight and support two-thirds, one-half, and one-third of total body weight of an able-bodied participant during walking. In conclusion, we confirmed that the developed system had basic performance of weight support. © 2022 IEEE.

The Six Sigma (SS) Methodology (DMAIC/DMAIE/DMADO) can be implemented in both manufacturing and service organizations with some particular differences. The three different venues of SS and their respective acronyms shown before are: operational (Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control), transactional (Define-Measure-Analysis-Innovate-Embed) and design (Define-Measure-Analyze- Design-Optimize). In the recent past, some variations were made to SS methodology in order to involve the challenges and the mission of the companies. A Recognize phase was added as an initial phase for the SS methodology. The Recognize phase is the one responsible for achieving the proper identification of a project in a specific area of opportunity. It is the foundation of the rest of the phases and its successful appliance. The correct diagnosis of a SS project can provide long lasting results to improve the objectives of the company. The aim of this paper is to provide a simple outlook based on previous literature on the several techniques that can be applied in Recognize phase depending on the project context. Digital Terrain Models (DTM) and Digital Elevation Models (DEM) are important for obtaining the Index of Connectivity, as they provide valuable information to assess the possibility of sediments reaching the riverbed in watershed basins. This is crucial for proactive management, as it allows the adoption of preventive and mitigating measures. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of the spatial resolution of DEMs with resolutions of 5 m and 2 m, and between the DTM and DEM at 2 m, in determining the Index of Connectivity (IC). Additionally, it was investigated whether it is possible to use only one spatial resolution of digital models to assess the geospatial distribution of IC for all hydrogeomorphological landscapes of the Duas Bocas River watershed, located in the Metropolitan Region of Greater Vitória, in the state of Espírito Santo, Southeast Brazil. For this study, the Borselli Index of Connectivity model (et al., 2008) was used, originally developed for rural areas of Italy and widely applied in different regions worldwide. The data used, including Digital Elevation and Terrain Models and land use and cover information, were obtained from the Integrated Geospatial Base System of the State of Espírito Santo (Brazil), which is publicly *** results indicate that a better geospatial representation of IC occurs when changing the spatial resolution of DEMs from a 5 m pixel to a 2 m pixel and when using the 2 m DTM instead of the 2 m DEM. When analyzing the relationship between IC and the hydrogeomorphological landscapes in the basin, it was observed that, in the absence of models with an even finer pixel resolution, the 2 m DTM is the most suitable option, as it presented IC values consistent within and between landscapes in the Escalated Terraces of Southern Espírito Santo, Coastal Hills and Massifs, and Coastal Plateaus sectors. A person-computer ensemble system is one of time concerned cooperative systems, which performs the secondo in an ensemble played by a computer-controlled piano cooperating with the primo played by a person musician. For expressive performances, it is necessary to prepare very expressive secondo data before the actual cooperative performance, since the system is modified its expression in realtime using the agogic information calculated from the input stream of the primo. The objective of this study is to create a services design of E-Government system that can help Indonesian government to resolve some problems such as diversity platform and application. It causes the island applications that can make decision support processes is not well happen. In this study, we use literature review as an approach to discuss the phenomenon. It is performed by identifying, evaluating, and combining information from several other studies which relevant with this study's research questions. We use services oriented analysis and design approach to discussing the phenomenon. The ability of Service-oriented Architecture to connect multiple services between diversity systems and it can help the enterprise application travelling in Indonesian government. The case in this study is travelling system in Indonesia Government. The results in this study are the conceptual services for Travelling System using SOA approach and ESB Technology.
