The proliferation of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and computation-intensive applications has led to unprecedented demands on network resources and computing capabilities. This paper presents MOALF-UAV-MEC, a novel Multi-Objective Adaptive Learning Framework for UAV-Assisted Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) tailored for dynamic IoT environments. The framework integrates Multi-Objective Reinforcement Learning (MORL), Model Predictive Control (MPC), Adaptive Particle Swarm Optimization (APSO), and Lyapunov Optimization to optimize UAV trajectories, dynamic resource allocation, and system stability. MOALF-UAV-MEC addresses critical challenges in UAV-assisted MEC, including multi-objective optimization, adaptive resource allocation, energy efficiency, scalability, and quality of service guarantees. Our approach employs a unique burst mode feature for UAVs, enabling temporary performance boosts in high-demand situations. Extensive simulations demonstrate the framework's efficiency in enhancing task completion rates, energy efficiency, and long-term system sustainability. Results show a task completion rate of 94.50%, significantly outperforming existing approaches, with an average of 1,890 completed tasks per UAV and a load balancing efficiency of 96%. The framework exhibits robust adaptive behavior, achieving a 38% reduction in UAV route optimization and a 55% increase in task completion during high-load periods. This research contributes to the advancement of edge computing in IoT environments, offering a scalable and adaptive solution for deploying computational resources in areas with limited infrastructure, during temporary events, or in emergency situations. © 2014 IEEE.

Tropical cyclones, characterized by strong winds and heavy rainfall, threaten human life in coastal regions crucial to the economy, including fisheries, agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure. Their frequent occurrence impacts communities reliant on these industries for livelihoods. Accurate estimation of tropical cyclone intensity is vital for disaster preparedness, risk assessment, and timely evacuations. Recent advancements in machine learning and deep learning have been applied to predict cyclone intensity from satellite images, providing insights into cyclone dynamics and enhancing disaster response. This paper analyzes recent research on intensity estimation using various machine learning algorithms and discusses future prospects for improving accuracy and reliability. © 2024 IEEE.

Multiobjective optimization (MOO) plays a critical role in various real-world domains. A major challenge therein is generating K uniform Pareto-optimal solutions to approximate the entire Pareto front. To address this issue, this paper firstly introduces fill distance to evaluate the K design points, which provides a quantitative metric for the representativeness of the design. However, directly specifying the optimal design that minimizes the fill distance is nearly intractable due to the involved nested min − max − min problem structure. To address this, we propose a surrogate "max-packing" design for the fill distance design, which is easier to optimize and leads to a rate-optimal design with a fill distance at most 4× the minimum value. Extensive experiments on synthetic and real-world benchmarks demonstrate that our proposed paradigm efficiently produces high-quality, representative solutions and outperforms baseline MOO methods. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. The log-structured merge-tree (LSM-tree)-based key-value store has been widely adopted by many large-scale data storage applications for its excellent write performance. However, such write performance gains mainly come from scarifying read performance due to the leveled and log-structured intrinsic characteristics of the LSM-tree. Therefore, the critical challenge of the existing LSM-tree is how to improve the read efficiency by reducing read amplification. This article for the first time proposes Tidal-tree-Mem, a novel data structure where data flow inside the LSM-tree-like Tidal waves. First, a floating strategy is proposed to allow frequently accessed files at the bottom of the LSM-tree to move to higher positions, reducing read amplification. Second, a stretching strategy is proposed to vary the shape of the LSM-tree to adapt to workloads with different characteristics. To evaluate the performance of Tidal-tree-Mem, we conduct a series of experiments using standard benchmarks from YCSB. The experimental results show that Tidal-tree-Mem can effectively reduce read amplification and the overall latency by over 71.94% and 47.34%, respectively, compared with representative schemes. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

Resource-constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) is a kind of representative practical engineering problem, the purpose is to schedule activities in the project through rational use of limited resources in the minimum time. This paper proposes an improved hybrid cuckoo algorithm (CS&SA) to solve the RCPSP problem. Firstly, the individual elements are randomly coded into priority vectors, and the population is decoded using serial scheduling to convert the individual into a set of task scheduling sequences. Secondly, the Levy flight is redesigned to change the algorithm from random walk to adaptive as the population fitness changes. Then, this article adds three neighborhood update techniques to meet the update requirements of the algorithm at different stages. Finally, in order to prevent the algorithm from falling into a local optimum, this paper introduces a simulated annealing strategy to allow the algorithm to accept some individuals with poor quality with a certain probability in each iteration. In the testing part, this paper firstly tests the effectiveness and optimization of three different-scale examples in the classic example library PSPLIB for RCPSP problems. Among them, the average error of the CS&SA algorithm in the small-scale J30 is 0.25%, and the average error in the medium-scale J60 is 11.21%, and the average error of the large-scale J120 is 19.83%. Then, by comparing other intelligent optimization algorithms, it is proved that NCS&SA is superior to other algorithms in optimization and accuracy. © 2021. All Rights Reserved.

In the realm of agriculture, infections on tomato leaves pose a worldwide danger to established tomato production, impacting a large number of farmers worldwide. To ensure healthy tomato plant growth and food security for the world's expanding population, early disease detection, treatment, and solution identification are essential. The use of computer-assisted technologies for disease detection in plant leaf is prevalent in modern agriculture. The goal was to develop an effective deep learning model for the detection of diseases in tomato plant leaf. To address memory and computational resource constraints, the proposed model incorporates a lightweight 'Region Convolutional Neural Network (R-CNN)' head and conducted experiments with various neural network architectures, including Densenet-169, optimized Mobilenet-V2 and Resnet-50, to enhance detection accuracy and computational efficiency. The research extends the capabilities of these neural network architectures by optimizing anchor proportions in the Conventional Neural Network (CNN) and modifying feature extraction topologies. These optimizations resulted in improved detection accuracy and computational efficiency and compared proposed technique against cutting-edge models to evaluate its viability and robustness. The outcomes of the research were promising. Impressive outcomes were obtained by the proposed approach regarding accuracy, F1-score, recall, and precision. © 2024 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT) enables intelligent data exchange across many kinds of interconnected devices in a diverse and unpredictable physical setting. The Internet of Things (IoT) network used in this study is a cluster-based sensor network that includes a base station and an application server that offers various services in a cloud setting. In this setting, assaults may occur in both device-to-device and user-to-device communication. For pervasive devices with limited resources, the use of conventional encryption techniques to address this problem is not practical. In addition, the majority of current trust-based security solutions either address the user level or the devices level. Therefore, this study aims to tackle environment-specific security concerns at the device and user levels in light of the environment's inherent dynamic and dispersed nature. This research explored the usage of a Trust Based Security Framework (TBSF) and Reputation Based Systems in the Internet of Things (IoT) to accurately describe the actions of devices and users. Fuzzy logic was used to calculate both the device trust and the user trust. A trust-based access control system, secure cluster head selection, and safe routing were all built using these trust values. At first, the security of device-to-device communication was addressed by the design and effective implementation of the Trust Aware Device Access Control System (TADACS). © 2024 IEEE.

Sleep is the natural state of relaxation for human being. Sleep quality is an essential yet frequently neglected aspect of sleep in general. Sleep quality is essential because it allows the body to restore itself and prepare for the next day. The standard method for evaluating sleep quality was subjective evaluation. Actigraphy devices, which can measure the sleep cycle, are now widely available. This study developed a method using Fuzzy Logic and an actigraphy device to measure and classify sleep quality. The fuzzy logic method was developed in several stages, which are determining the sleep quality measurement parameters, constructing the fuzzy set for each input variable, and developing the fuzzy rules. To evaluate the proposed fuzzy model, five individuals were invited to participate in the experiment and required to complete the PSQI subjective sleep questionnaire. The evaluation result shows that our proposed Fuzzy model achieves lower error compared to the existing method. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

Privacy-preserving and secure data sharing are critical for medical image analysis while maintaining accuracy and minimizing computational overhead are also crucial. Applying existing deep neural networks (DNNs) to encrypted medical data is not always easy and often compromises performance and security. To address these limitations, this research introduces a secure framework consisting of a learnable encryption method based on block-pixel operation to encrypt the data and subsequently integrate it with the Vision Transformer (ViT). The proposed framework ensures data privacy and security by creating unique scrambling patterns per key, providing robust performance against leading bit attacks and minimum difference attacks. © 2025 IEEE.
