This study focuses on the brainwave analysis of the correlation between listening to the rain and water sounds and reducing human-perceived temperature. Brainwave changes are monitored when experimental subjects listen to rain and water sounds at various frequencies. The experiment result shows that listening to the sounds of rain and water in an environment of high temperature and high humidity can boost α waves to induce feelings of calm and relaxed mental state. In order to investigate subjects’ psychological and physiological changes induced by brainwave changes while listening to rain and water sounds for different time durations in a high temperature and humidity environment, this study uses the Fourier transform to obtain the spectra of natural rain/water sounds and analyzes the sound frequencies. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This study embarked on a rigorous examination of the factors driving user satisfaction and usage behavior in the context of telehealth applications. Utilizing a well- structured Google Form survey, distributed through an array of social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Discord, Instagram, and Line, the research gathered 251 responses. The purposive sampling technique was employed to ensure that the data captured the experiences of individuals who had actively engaged with telehealth services. One hypothesis, relating to the influence of Online Reviews, was found to be unsupported. This surprising result suggests that, contrary to expectations, the opinions and reviews shared online do not significantly affect users' satisfaction or their behavioral decisions in the context of telehealth applications. This finding highlights the need for a more nuanced understanding of the factors influencing user preferences and choices in this rapidly evolving sector. Conversely, other hypotheses examining factors such as Social Influence, Facilitating Conditions, Perceived Reliability, Price Value, and Purchase Intention were substantiated. The positive influence of these factors on customer usage behavior underscores their significance in shaping user experiences and satisfaction within the telehealth ecosystem. Furthermore, the study posits that facilitating conditions should be closely aligned with technological advancements, as this alignment is conducive to the development of enhanced application features. This insight suggests that telehealth providers should continuously innovate and integrate advanced technologies to ensure that the facilitating conditions meet the ever-evolving needs and expectations of users. © 2023 IEEE.

Proteins contain epitopes that serve as their antigenic determinants, with antigenicity referring to an epitope's ability to react with an antibody. These antigenic determinants exist as either continuous or discontinuous epitopes and are pivotal in integrative biology. The presence of B-cell epitopes has been extensively studied due to their potential in synthetic vaccine design. Thus, identifying antigenic sites on proteins is critical for developing synthetic peptide vaccines, immunodiagnostic tests, and antibody production. Recent years have seen the development of several computational methods, particularly machine learning-based approaches, to predict B-cell epitopes. However, these methods often fall short in reliably predicting linear B-cell epitopes, presenting an ongoing challenge. In this study, we propose and develop a novel method that integrates multiple deep learning models, aiming to harness the strengths of each model type while mitigating their individual weaknesses. During the model construction process, we addressed data imbalance and fine-tuned the model parameters to achieve optimal performance for our dataset. Our model demonstrated promising results, achieving an ACC of 0.846, AUC of 0.808, BAC of 0.716, MCC of 0.568 and PR-AUC of 0.705 on an independent dataset. This represents a significant performance improvement over previous algorithms. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

FA-FENet: A Feature Attention Front-End Network Based on a Lightweight CNN Architecture for Recognizing Abnormal Underwater Illegal Fishing Behavior

In the past decade, studies on illegal fishing have neglected to consider illegal underwater fishing. Traditionally, supervisor-based methods have been used to manually interpret underwater behavior;however, existing artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) methods are not applicable to illegal underwater fishing. Therefore, in this study, we used a computer vision AI method to perform the challenging task of illegal underwater fishing image recognition. Illegal underwater fishing images have unclear features and high feature similarity. In this study, we define normal underwater travel as wearing diving clothing. Abnormal underwater behavior includes underwater personnel with illegal fishing equipment. Herein, we propose a feature attention front-end network (FA-FENet), a novel end-to-end convolutional neural network (CNN) architecture that differs from previous methods in that it allows flexible integration with various backbone networks. The front end of the backbone network can be directly replaced to improve the learning efficiency and performance of the proposed network. The convolutional layers in our proposed FA-FENet include dilated convolutions, group convolutions, padded convolutions, pooling layers, and activation functions. We also comprehensively review the performance of the proposed FA-FENet. A series of ablation studies demonstrate that the proposed FA-FENet can be applied in shallow backbone networks. In addition, FA-FENet has potential in emerging networks with good performance in illegal underwater fishing identification tasks. Finally, we conducted experiments with an underwater fishing behavior dataset. The experimental results demonstrate that our proposed method outperforms recently reported methods with attention mechanisms. Specifically, FA-FENet-RegNet achieves an accuracy of 88.81%, FA-FENet-ResNet18 reaches 78.32%, and FA-FENet-ShuffleNetV2 attains 80.41%. © 2013 IEEE.

This paper describes the implementation and evaluation of an RC polyphase filter (RCPF) and circuitry for measuring its frequency characteristics. The integrated circuit is fabricated on a 0.6 µm CMOS process and its supply voltage is 5 V. The integrated circuit includes a filter under test (FUT), a four-phase square wave generator, several analog switches and differential amplifiers to amplify the high-impedance signals of the RCPF. This FUT is a third-order complex RCPF whose passband is 8 − 40 MHz. This paper describes the design of these circuits in detail. This integrated circuit can select two measurement methods by means of external control signals. The first method uses a four-phase square wave. The frequency characteristics are measured by using an on-chip four-phase square wave generator driven by an external clock generator and by a spectrum analyzer tuned to the fundamental frequency. The second method uses an external network analyzer. Furthermore, this integrated circuit is equipped with a calibration circuit to measure the frequency characteristics of the circuitry except FUT by passing through the input / output signals of the FUT. As a result, the frequency characteristics of the FUT itself can be accurately measured. The effectiveness is confirmed through evaluation of the fabricated integrated circuit. © 2025 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

In recent years, advancements in training methods using large-scale text-image datasets and the development of diffusion models have significantly improved the quality and efficiency of image generation from text prompts. Despite these strides, text-to-image generation models still face challenges in producing realistic images that accurately reflect the specified details in the prompts. A common issue with diffusion-based models is their difficulty in generating the precise number of objects described in the text. For instance, a prompt like "six tomatoes in a basket" may often result in an image with an incorrect number of tomatoes. To address this problem, this paper proposes an algorithm designed to enhance the accuracy of object quantity in generated images. The algorithm employs an object counting network to assess the number of objects in a given image and calculates the error between this predicted count and the expected count. This error gradient is then used to guide the predictions of the diffusion model, improving its ability to generate the specified number of objects accurately.

Widyaiswara is required to show the best performance to fulfill his duties and obligations. Therefore, it is very important to measure the performance of the Widyaiswara, so that it can be used as evaluation material by the BPSDM PROVSU. However, the assessment process that occurs is still not precise and time-consuming. Therefore, to minimize this, a decision support system is needed that can minimize time errors and data processing in decision-making so that the assessment runs well and accurately. This system was built by applying the WASPAS method and the TOPSIS method. Based on the results of tests carried out five times, the results of the WASPAS method processing time resulted in an average processing time of 0.00029791 ms and an average memory usage value of 2.836.44 kb, while the results of the TOPSIS method processing time test resulted in an average processing time - an average of 0.000296428 ms and an average memory usage value of 2.862.34 kb. © 2022 IEEE.

This article describes the architecture of software services that provide registration of small boat data to build maritime safety. The proposed system architecture which so-called SIMKAPEL aims to support small boat registration for maritime safety. It is developed from a conventional service-oriented architecture (SOA) with an open standard for data interoperability between elements. The goal of this research is to implement and evaluate the proposed architecture to support small boat registration and e-certification. Several parts of the architecture have been implemented as a platform that provides core services and data sources to be used by Ministry of Transportation, Directorate General of Sea Transportation, and other government agencies. Finally, the proposed SIMKAPEL platform with the SOA architecture is evaluated for its benefits to users through the expert opinion survey to measure its efficiency. The analysis results showed that SOA-based SIMKAPEL is feasible to use as a boat e-certification system. Furthermore, experiment results provide three parameters (e.g., maritime safety, namely, cargo/passengers, boat safety facilities, and maritime safety systems) with efficiency values of 42%, 46%, and 42%, respectively. The parameter with the highest efficiency shows a big effect on the level of safety of the boat and passengers. Thus, the parameters that need to be prioritized and need boat owners’ attention are cargo/passenger, boat safety equipment, and maritime safety system. © 2023, The Author(s).

A vast number of spatiotemporal datasets collected from a wide range of sources has motivated scientists to develop effective approaches to identify interesting patterns hidden in these datasets. In this respect, kernel density estimators, which belong to a class of non-parametric estimators in statistics, have been widely exploited in recent years. With this background, we have developed a novel kernel density estimator aiming to provide accurate analysis results. According to the evaluation with a real spatiotemporal dataset, which collected emergency medical service records in a county in the United States, the proposed kernel density estimator can approximate the probability density function significantly more accurately than a conventional kernel density estimator. Furthermore, we have exploited the proposed kernel density estimator to identify interesting patterns hidden in the real spatiotemporal dataset. © 2023 IEEE.

According to the trend of worldwide car sales have grown up, this cause may increase accidents on the road due to human error. The self-driverless car has been developed to solve this problem. One task of the self-driverless car is traffic sign detection and recognition (TSDR), which will help drivers notify the traffic sign installed on the road in advance. Taiwan roads have specific traffic signs, and no Taiwan traffic sign public dataset is available. In this paper, our proposed object detection method was experimentally performed using YOLOv5s6 and YOLOv8s models on three different datasets, as Tsinghua-Tencent 100K (TT100k), the self-created Taiwan traffic sign (TWTS), and the hybrid dataset, which combine the traffic scenes between TT100k and TWTS dataset. The output results from each dataset and each model, which is trained on the same parameter, will be compared to validate the proposed method. The experiment results’ comparison of the hybrid dataset between YOLOv5s6 and YOLOv8s models display the results of the mAP@.5 is about 65% and 76.2%, respectively, which means the performance of the YOLOv8s is higher than the YOLOv5s6 when using hybrid dataset.
