K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) is a widely used algorithm to gain an accurate and efficient classification. One of the drawbacks of the algorithm is the time required to calculate the distance for each point. In this paper, the aim is to speed up the KNN algorithm with the implementation of multi threads and multiprocessors to reduce the time to execute the algorithm. There are two medical datasets used to apply the KNN algorithm for the comparison of the sequential and parallel performance. The datasets utilized are Heart Test and Breast Cancer Wisconsin (Diagnostic) Data Sets. The multiprocessing is used to parallelize the computation of the distance of KNN. The parallel KNN outperforms the sequential version with the speedup increase, leading to reduction in time for both the processes and threads. © 2020 IEEE.

Coarticulation is one of the major factors that make speech recognition difficult. In conventional connected word recognition methods, a template for a connected word sequence is made by simply concatenating the templates of a single word. Therefore, some misrecognitions occur on account of this disregard for coarticulation. This study examines the influence of coarticulation in concatenating templates. The boundaries between words are smoothed so as to incorporate the influence of the tail of the preceding word on the head of the following word. The results of recognition experiments of 35 tokens of 4-digit-sequences show a recognition rate improvement of 5%, giving an 98% correct recognition rate. © European Conference on Speech technology, ECST 1987. The aim of this paper is to investigate the impact of social distance on people during COVID-19 pandemic using twitter sentiment analysis through a comparison between the k-means clustering and Mini-Batch k-means clustering approaches. To find the most common frequent words, two datasets have been investigated (WHO and Bahrain ministry of health datasets) to be as data preparation and exploration. Another two datasets (English and Arabic datasets) are used in the clustering of k-means. In this paper, a comparison between k-means and Mini-Batch k-means is performed to find a pattern. The word frequency shows that there are several words related to the pandemic. The sentiment analysis result show that in USA, Australia, Nigeria, Canada, and England, most tweets are neutral. However, the majority of tweets are positive tweets from both Italy and India. In addition, the k-means cluster in the English dataset reveals several cluster trends where COVID-19 pandemic procedures are addressed in cluster 1, and health workers are encouraged in cluster 3. © 2020 IEEE.

Stock prices prediction is one of the most daunting tasks to achieve for day traders, investors, and data scientists. They are complex functions of a wide array of contributing factors that affects the movement dynamics. Politics, social outlook, the company's sales performance, and socio-economic factors all have an influence of how the stock is perceived globally and thus affecting the price movement based on the supply/demand balance. In this work a Framework is proposed to predict the price and movement direction by using multiple datasets that includes news sentiment, social sentiment, company earnings announcement, and technical indicators. A case study was applied on the Apple Inc. stock using Long short-term Memory Neural Networks (LSTM) and Deep Neural Networks (DNN). Results showed superiority of the LSTM model in both predicting stock value [75.4 MSE, +-2.52 PE] and the direction with [70.1% classification accuracy] over the DNN model which suffered from prediction lag and dependency on trend indicators achieving [53.1%] in predicting the direction of the stock. © 2020 IEEE.

The printed inverted-F antenna is used to design a multi-band antenna, in which the frequency includes LTE, WLAN, and GPS frequency. The printed inverted-F antenna is applied in the environment and architecture of the 14-inch notebook computer. The design frequency of the antenna is 0.7-5 GHz. The usable frequency band includes three different systems: LTE, WLAN, and GPS. They comply with the wireless network specifications in the industry. Based on the analysis data such as current distribution and antenna field type, the variability and difference of the antenna in the environment are analyzed and compared. © 2021 IEEE.

Traditional perception systems for TJA (Traffic Jam Assistance) are mostly implemented by fusing images with radar or lidar. As computer vision techniques become more powerful, cameras can almost replace the need for radar and lidar in perception tasks, which reduces the hardware cost of the system. In this research, we propose a camera-only perception system for TJA, which is able to provide the information of the vehicles ahead and the drivable area. The proposed system has been evaluated through real-world scenario sequences, and proved that it achieves high robustness, which is highly possible to be adopted for TJA development. © 2023 IEEE.

Not only common issues on object detection task need to be deal with, for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) applications, small object is one of the critical problems that needs to be solved. YOLOv7 is a powerful network architecture that provides high efficiency and accuracy object detection results. This paper adopts YOLOv7 as an object detection model for two different kinds of targets, one is vehicle, and the other is ocean flotsam. By training the model with open datasets and fine-tuning the model with self-collected datasets, we prove through sequences collected from real-world scenarios that YOLOv7 is able to provide robust and accurate object detection results, including vehicles and ocean flotsam, with real-time efficiency. Based on such experimental result, we confirmed that YOLOv7 can be the baseline for object detection model development. © 2023 IEEE.

Anomalies in data become ubiquitous and often unavoidable. Despite it might be caused by various errors during the data collection or transportation, some anomalies potentially give important information such as indication of a new underlying process. The aim of anomaly detection task is to determine all such instances in the input dataset in a data-driven fashion. In the past decade, the proliferation of anomaly data in many domains have raised research interest resulted in a plethora of anomaly detection methods A vast number of previous study reports suggested that there is no single model will achieve the best performance for every dataset. This paper presents empiric results on the effect of several kernel functions to performance of One-Class Support Vector Machine (OC-SVM) as an anomaly detector model. The proposed model is tested using financial transactions of microfinance service dataset from an Indonesian Bank. The empiric results showed that OC-SVM model with Sigmoid and RBF kernels achieve the best statistically significant value of training, validation, and testing accuracies than the OC-SVM model with no-kernel, linear kernel and polynomial (degree 3,4,5,6) kernels. © 2019 IEEE.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the quality of secretarial, financial and staffing information systems at the Directorate General of AHU, known as the E-PASTI system. There are two variables analysed, namely system quality and information quality. Data collection using questionnaires that distributed to 123 employees who used the E-PASTI system but returned 93 questionnaires. Data quality analyst uses descriptive quantitative method. The results of the study are several conditions related to the system and information quality of E-PASTI. The quality can be a reference for the AHU Directorate General to improve the quality of E-PASTI that suits the needs of employees. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In offshore aquaculture operations, personnel equipped with diving gear are often necessary to inspect the underwater net cages for damage, particularly on the sea floor. This manual inspection process is time-consuming and complex. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes a computer vision solution for identifying damage in underwater net cages to address the inefficiencies and challenges of traditional manual inspections. The proposed scheme utilizes a high-performance multi-branch computational architecture designed based on ShuffleNet architecture to detect net cage damage more efficiently. Experimental results demonstrate that this work performs well on the ImageNet ILSVRC-2010 dataset and achieves an accuracy of 88.54% in underwater net damage detection. © 2024 IEEE.
