In this paper, a finger pose estimation method is presented. A direct use of fingers is useful in some applications which require handling of 3D position information. Our finger pose estimation method exploits anatomical constraints on finger motion and ring-shaped markers to achieve simple and practical measurements applicable to daily life situations. The use of anatomical constraints ensures that no exact placement of the markers is required.

As we are moving along with emerging technologies the storage of data will no longer be in our conventional single dimensional raw data. The relational data can be further identified with spatial and non-spatial relationship. This is to examine whether clustering approach has any role to play in spatial data mining. This paper explains spatial clustering under statistical method of analysis for discovering the knowledge which is encapsulated in the spatial database. This study emphasis the spatial clustering approach accomplished through algorithms such as PAM and CLARA and let us to come across the limitations of PAM method. To the end, This work ushers that spatial data mining is a promising field, with fruitful research results and carries many challenging issues.

This paper presents an incremental method to 3D transformation by VQS structures. For interpolated scaling, rotation and translation between two animation key frames, with constant intervals in size, angle and distance, the proposed approach reduces the VQS transformation cost by more than an half. Moreover, all interpolations for VQS key frames are performed implicitly at no cost. In other words, the expensive trigonometric functions in quaternion Slerp and exponential functions in scalar interpolation are completely eliminated from the process. The method is fast, accurate, numerically stable and also preserves all geometric characteristics of the original transformation and interpolation algorithms.
There has been a growing interest among the researchers in the area of soft computing assisted material modeling in general and modeling of concrete in particular. Their results look very promising. Concrete is a hete...

This paper studies the stability robustness of a multirate system where sensing data are obtained n (n > 1 is an integer) times slower than the control variables are updated. The robust controller is designed for such systems by using the H infin technique. The procedure to check the robust stability of the controlled system is presented; and an illustrative example is given to show the effects of the value n on the robust stability of the system with the designed H infin controller.

In this paper, we extend the observer/control strategies previously published in [25] to an n -link, serially connected, direct drive, rigid link, revolute robot operating in the presence of nonlinear friction effects modeled by the Lu-Gre model. In addition, we also present a new adaptive control technique for compensating for the nonlinear parameterizable Stribeck effects. Specifically, an adaptive observer/controller scheme is developed which contains a feedforward approximation of the Stribeck effects. This feedforward approximation is used in a composite controller/observer strategy which forces the average square integral of the position tracking error to an arbitrarily small value. Experimental results are included to illustrate the performance of the proposed controllers.
