Grain Boundary Detection and Phase Segmentation of SEM Ferrite–Pearlite Microstructure Using SLIC and Skeletonization

In this paper, we report an efficient segmentation and grain boundary detection process using modern image processing operators like simple linear iterative clustering and skeletonization. Accurate phase segmentation is the major requirement for any phase identification and quantification operations. The proposed image processing methods have been experimented on the in-house generated 48 scanning electron microscopy (SEM) microstructures obtained from plain carbon steel samples containing 0.1, 0.22, 0.35 and 0.48 wt%C and have been subjected to both annealing and normalizing treatments. The microstructures for dataset have been captured in SEM using secondary electron mode over a wide range of magnification × 500–× 5000. The experimental results significantly validate the segmentation of ferrite and pearlite regions. Also, the grain boundary detection results appear to be plausibly effective in case of ferrite–ferrite and ferrite–pearlite boundaries. However, the grain boundary detection efficiency is found to be relatively poor in case of pearlite–pearlite boundary. The overall performance of the proposed image processing technique in context of ferrite–pearlite steel SEM images shows promising results in all circumstances of compositional range, heat treatment and magnification. © 2019, The Institution of Engineers (India).

This study investigates the possibility of combining inorganic substances—which act as absorbers, HTLs) in order to produce stable, effective PSCs. A ZnSe ETL, HTLs (MoS 2 , MoTe 2 , and CuI), and an AgCdF 3 perovskite absorber, comprise the suggested architecture for this study. This study examines the impact of metal contacts, doping density, interface defect densities, absorber thickness, HTL and ETL layers, and defect density on the output of a solar device using the SCAPS-1D model. The investigation of how temperature impacts the performance of the proposed PSC is another important aspect of the study. By integrating the MoS 2 /MoTe 2 /CuI layers as an HTL with the studied structure of Al/FTO/ZnSe/AgCdF 3 /HTL/Ni, the V OC climbed to 0.834/0.910/0.969 V, the J SC to 42.122/42.862/42.885 mA cm −2 , the PCE to 30.31/34.05/36.06 %, and the FF to 86.21/87.23/86.69 %. A machine learning model was created to forecast the solar cells’ performance metrics. The model precisely evaluates the importance of each parameter by utilizing SHAP values, providing important insights into their contributions. With an accuracy rate of around 83.75 %, machine learning predicted the performance matrix of the optimal solar cell under investigation. An affordable AgCdF 3 solar cell may be developed as a result of this study’s significant findings and practical design.

Point of Sale systems have been rapidly getting advanced and powerful. In recent times, we can see credit and debit card based POS systems apart from traditional cash POS with manual entry. POS systems with Barcode readers are also developed. What we must recognize is that still many fraud and security issues are present. POS system that we have proposed, is based on new age technology that is 'AI subset based POS' which is a new method. We can find POS system with face recognition and Card swipe system at few places. Considering that the security problems still exists with the current system. We have proposed face recognition along with password as a method of payment making POS systems both card less and cashless. Cloud Computing technology is suggested way of implementation to make solution overall energy efficient as well. © 2019 IEEE.

The aim of this paper is to boost the power output of the hybrid energy harvester effectively and to provide electrical optimization for a hybrid energy harvesting system that produces two electrical outputs from a single source of mechanical input namely vibration. Two different electrical outputs are produced by using the concept of piezoelectricity and electromagnetic induction. In this paper, an electrical equivalent is obtained for the standalone piezoelectric system and the electromagnetic system. The rectification of the piezoelectric system along with its results is discussed. Different circuits for amplification is studied and simulated to improve the voltage. All the practical experimental outputs and the different software used to gain these outputs are recorded. The various applications of the hybrid system are reviewed and discussed.

Utilizing the vast amounts of data acquired by sensor networks set up in various businesses is the foundation of smart supply chain services. When it comes to exchanging data, Sensing as a Service (S2aaS) is an intriguing pattern of IoT business models. Data security, performance, privacy, and single point of failure are just a few of the reasons why the present centralized Internet of Things (IoT) S2aaS models aren’t cut out for IoT large data sharing. We present a decentralized framework for IoT S2aaS for smart supply chains that is based on blockchain technology. Without the need for intermediaries, this framework may ensure that data consumers can safely communicate data with data owners of IoT solutions while retaining full ownership of their data. Researchers lay out the framework’s layered architecture and system model, from which derive a specific plan for implementing IoT S2aaS through the usage of smart contracts. We put an Ethereum-based software prototype into action. The outcomes of the experiments prove that our solution is both valid and effective.

This paper presents different PHP-based frameworks used for building robust, enterprise-level web applications. The paper focuses on the main features of the two frameworks, and then analyze some of the advantages and disadvantages of using each of them. DotKernel is a custom concept built by Apidemia, mainly used internally but present in the open-source environment. It is a collection of middleware applications built on top of the Zend Expressive microframework, implementing customized versions of some of the Zend Framework components. Symfony is also a concept consisting of a web application framework, a set of reusable, heavily used PHP components, and a community sharing a common philosophy.

Traffic congestion is one of the major problems in most of the cities across the globe and it leads to several other problems like pollution, time wastage, long traffic queues on roads and may cause accidents. Improvement of Road infrastructure is not always the feasible solution to resolve the problem. In real life scenario shorter distance route towards the destination attracts majority of people and at times it may aggravate traffic jam conditions. Therefore, a real time traffic information for intelligent decision making to decide the route preference is required. Moreover, a system which considers the factor of distance towards the destination along with real time traffic situation on that route will add to the solution to the congestion problem. certain parameters such as distance, weather condition, road location, day of week and time are considered to formulate the problem and to find solutions to these problems This paper outlines a combination of logistic regression with fuzzy logic such that a smart decision to preferred path can be taken. It is used to compute the probability of each possible path by considering the real time traffic information, distance and road condition and later is used to take decisions in an uncertain scenario. Proposed Method considers the number of parameters like distance, weather condition, road location, day of week and time. © 2018 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
