In offshore aquaculture operations, personnel equipped with diving gear are often necessary to inspect the underwater net cages for damage, particularly on the sea floor. This manual inspection process is time-consuming and complex. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes a computer vision solution for identifying damage in underwater net cages to address the inefficiencies and challenges of traditional manual inspections. The proposed scheme utilizes a high-performance multi-branch computational architecture designed based on ShuffleNet architecture to detect net cage damage more efficiently. Experimental results demonstrate that this work performs well on the ImageNet ILSVRC-2010 dataset and achieves an accuracy of 88.54% in underwater net damage detection. © 2024 IEEE.

Yakshagana, a traditional theater form from Karnataka, India, features a unique combination of vibrant costumes, dynamic dance movements, and elaborate facial makeup, making character and actor identification a challenging task for automated systems. This research work presents a novel approach to classify Yakshagana characters into two primary categories, Vaishnava and Shaiva, and to identify the actors performing these characters using advanced machine learning techniques. Our research employs a Cyclic Gated Recurrent Neural Network (Cyclic GRNN) for classification and identification tasks. For character category classification, we integrate YOLOv3 and Faster R-CNN models, achieving an accuracy of 92.85% with YOLOv3 and 88.285% with Faster R-CNN. The categorization is specifically focused on distinguishing between Vaishnava and Shaiva characters. Additionally, for actor name identification, we utilize a RESNET-50 model, attaining a high accuracy of 95.60%. The results demonstrate the efficacy of Cyclic GRNN combined with state-of-the-art object detection and image classification models in accurately recognizing and categorizing Yakshagana characters and actors. This research contributes to the preservation and digital documentation of Yakshagana by providing robust tools for automated identification, thereby facilitating cultural heritage studies and enhancing audience engagement with this traditional art form. © 2024 IEEE.

Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) are commonly used in data-driven approaches to estimate the Remaining Useful Lifetime (RUL) of power electronic devices. RNNs are preferred because their intrinsic feedback mechanisms are better suited to model time-series data. However, the impact of RNN complexity on estimation accuracy is rarely discussed in the literature. This issue is important because choosing a lower-complexity model that delivers the same or similar performance as a higher-complexity model can increase implementation efficiency. In the paper, we use three RNN models, namely, the vanilla version, LSTM (Long Short Term Memory) and GRU (Gated Recurrent Unit) to conduct RUL estimation for power electronic devices. We use two accelerated aging datasets, one dataset targeting the package failure of MOSFETs, and the other dataset targeting package failure of power diodes. Our study shows that a lower-complexity RNN does not necessarily deliver a lower performance. Similarly, a higher-complexity model does not assure a higher performance. As such, our work highlights the importance of selecting a proper neural network for RUL estimation not biased towards complex models. This is especially useful and important for implementing such RUL estimation techniques in embedded resource-constrained and speed-limited computins platforms. © 2024 IEEE.

Knowledge of medication and disease has been rapidly accumulated. Also, an increasing number of researchers have paid more attention to predicting medicine-disease associations by machine learning methods. The associations of entities in the medical heterogeneous information network involve different association types. In this paper, we propose MHIN-MD, a representation learning of medical heterogeneous network model to solve the association between medicines and diseases in medical heterogeneous information network. Specifically, we first construct a medical heterogeneous information network contains diseases, medicines, diagnosis, etc. Next, we design a neural network model to learn the feature vector representation of medical nodes information. We try to find the association between medicines and diseases through the characteristics of medicines structure and the interaction between medicines. Using the Euclidean distance to calculate medicine similarity and disease similarity, generates a set of similar nodes between medicines and diseases to prediction association between medicines and diseases. Finally, our extensive experiments on MIMIC- III datasets and DrugBank datasets, the result demonstrates that MHIN-MD can outperform baselines in the association prediction. © 2022. Since cameras are so widely available, taking pictures has become more and more common. In order to gain more information, it is frequently necessary to enhance photographs, which are crucial in our daily lives as memories or sources of wealth of information. There are many tools accessible to enhance the quality of photos;however, some of them are also widely used to alter images, leading to the dissemination of false information. This makes picture forgeries more severe and frequent, which is now a major cause of concern. To identify fake images, many conventional methods have been developed over time. Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have drawn a lot of interest recently, and they have had an impact on the area of picture fraud detection as well. However, the majority of CNN-based picture forgery detection methods currently used in the literature are restricted to identifying a certain kind of fraud (either image splicing or copymove). As a result, a method that can quickly and precisely identify any hidden forgeries in a picture is needed. We present a powerful deep learning-based approach for detecting picture forgeries in this study. The RGB format images converted to error level analysis (ELA) are used to train our model. The suggested model is compact, and its effectiveness shows that it outperforms cutting-edge methods in terms of speed. A sensory organ that reacts to visible light, the human eye is a component of the sensory nervous system. A new approach is needed since, although physical detection of the eye condition is still a possibility, it is challenging and time-consuming. The study recommends a hybrid paradigm to classify various eye illnesses. Prior to further processing, pictures are first reduced in size, made grayscale, and noise-free using a combination of the Weiner and Median filters. Histogram equalization based on a Gaussian Mixture is also used to enhance pictures. Picture features are recovered with the aid of a thick convolutional neural network. An improved Aquila optimized ResNet101 model is used for classification. The effectiveness of the models is contrasted with that of related studies in the literature. A F1 score of 98.18%, accuracy of 99.2%, sensitivity of 98.9%, specificity of 98.91%, and precision of 98% were attained by the suggested model. © 2024 IEEE.

One of the scariest illnesses that causes irreversible blindness is Diabetic Retinopathy (DR). As a result, early exposure to Diabetic Retinopathy can help to preserve vision. The study proposes a hybrid model to classify Diabetic Retinopathy images. Initially, pre-processing of the photographs includes resizing them. Grey scale translation and noise removing using a combination of Weiner filter and Median filter. Further, images are enhanced using Gaussian Mixture based histogram equalization. Features of the images are extracted using Dense Convolutional neural network. An optimized ResNet101 model with improved Aquila optimization is used for classification. Performance of the models is as opposed to other studies in literature. The proposed model has acquired F1 score of 98.98%, accuracy of 99.2%, sensitivity of 98.9%, specificity of 99.1%, and precision of 99%. © 2024 IEEE.

Harmony Search Algorithm (HS) is a new meta-heuristic algorithm based on music creation process. The algorithm has been widely used in many fields because of its simple and flexible structure and fewer controlled parameters. However, HS is easy to be affected by the initial harmony memory and falls into local optimization. In addition, there are also problems, such as low searching accuracy and slow convergence speed of the optimal solution. Therefore, this paper proposes a hybrid harmony search algorithm based on firefly algorithm and boltzmann machine (HSFA-BM). First, in order to avoid the possibility of harmony search algorithm falling into local optimum, boltzmann machine (BM) mechanism is used to update the harmony memory in this paper. Second, in order to enhance the ability of the algorithm to exploit optimal solutions, this paper uses the movement mode of fireflies to generate new solutions. The improved algorithm enhances the ability of global optimization and search precision, and speeds up the convergence speed. In this paper, six classical test functions are used to test the effectiveness of the algorithm, and a very obvious optimization result is obtained. © 2022. All Rights Reserved.
