He received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 1983 and is presently pursuing a master's degree in engineering management at Old Dominion University. Mr. Luke is experienced as a test engineer at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard (1978–1989) and as a reliability/quality engineer at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Detachment Norfolk (1989-Present). Currently he is the group leader of the RMA/QA group for the AN/SQQ-89(V) Antisubmarine Warfare System at Naval Undersea Warfare Center Detachment Norfolk. Mr. Luke is a member of ASNE IEEE (Reliability Society) and ASQC and is an ASQC certified quality engineer and reliability engineer. Derya Alasya Jacobs:is an assistant professor in the Engineering Management Department at Old Dominion University (ODU). She has a B.S. in computer science and an M.S. and Ph.D in engineering management from the University of Missouri-Rolla. Prior to joining ODU Dr. Jacobs worked as a research engineer at the Center for Technology Transfer and Economic Development at the University of Missouri-Rolla. During the same period she served as a consultant in software development for Missouri Enterprise Rolla Missouri. He graduated from the Chung Chen Institute of Technology in 1972 with a bachelor of science degree in naval architecture. He received a master of engineering degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from the University of Michigan in 1977. He obtained his Ph.D. in engineering management at the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1991. His current research interests include artificial intelligence project management and concurrent engineering. He is a member of the American Society of Naval Engineers and the Institute of Industrial Engineers. Colin O. Benjamin:is an associate professor of engineering management at the University of Missouri-Rolla and has had several years of international teaching industrial and consulting experience. He received a Ph.D. in industrial engineering from the University of the West Indies an MBA from the Cranfield Institute of Technology U.K. and an M.Sc. in engineering production and management from the University of Birmingham U.K. His current research interests include artificial intelligence (AI) multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) facilities planning and computer integrated manufacturing (CIM). He joined Ingalls in 1958 and has held various positions in the Engineering Division and participated in the design of numerous merchant ships drill rigs submarines and surface combatants and auxiliary support ships. Mr. Lindgren is a 1958 graduate of the University of Southwest Louisiana. His degree is in mechanical engineering and he is also a licensed professional engineer. William A. Solitario:is the director of advanced technology at Ingalls Shipbuilding Inc. in Pascagoula Miss. He received his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the City University of New York and has 28 years experience in marine engineering and design. His current responsibilities include the direction of Ingalls' IRAD programs and several Navy-funded R&D programs to improve ship's performance and reduce ship's operating costs. He is a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and past chairman of the Gulf Section East Area. Arnold P. Moore:is the director design engineering at Ingalls Shipbuilding where he is responsible for all new construction design and engineering activities. Prior to promotion to his current position Mr. Moore served as chief naval architect at Ingalls. He has 24 years experience in ship design construction and repair. Mr. Moore holds the professional degree of ocean engineer as well as a master's degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from MIT. He also earned a bachelor's degree in naval science from the U.S. Naval Academy and is a registered professional engineer. Mr. Moore served as an engineering duty officer in the U.S. Navy and is currently a captain in the Naval Reserve. During his naval career he served on USSIndependence (CVA-62) and USSLuce (DLC-7/DDC-38). He also served at Supship Quincy Mass. and Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. He was stationed in Washington D.C. with assignments at CNO (OP 98) ASN (S&L) and the Naval Sea Systems Command. Captain Vinroot was technical director of the Battleship Reactivation Program (PMS 378) technical director of the Destroyer Acquisition Program (PMS 389) and deputy program manager of the Amphibious Warfare and Strategic Sealift Program (PMS 377). Most recently he served as program manager for Gas Turbine Surface Combatants (PMS 314) and Surface Combatants (PMS 330). He has ten years of professional experience with the Naval Sea Systems Command in positions with responsibilities for logistic support planning policy and delivery computer-aided acquisition and logistic support and Fleet Modernization Program (FMP) and ship construction issues. Dr. Zhou received his master's degree and Ph.D. in computer science from Vanderbilt University in 1984 and 1987 respectively. He did his dissertation in the fields of artificial intelligence analogical reasoning and machine learning. His research interests include: classifier systems genetic algorithms learning by analogy inductive learning adaptive expert systems automated knowledge acquisition and adaption. He is also interested in data base design programming languages mental modeling and software engineering. Dr. Barry G. Silverman:is director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and a professor at the Engineering Administration Department of The George Washington University. He is also president of IntelliTek Inc. an AI consulting firm. Dr. Silverman received the B.S.E. M.S.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He has been a principal developer of four generic AI products as well as eight AI applications. Since 1979 he has written over 100 papers and reports on these AI efforts. Mr. Yanus is presently the manager of naval systems engineering in the Computer Aided Engineering Department of the Plant Engineering Division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation. His prior experience includes 19 years at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory where he performed assignments of increasing responsibility in design analysis development and procurement of nuclear reactor components for naval applications. As the manager of reactor mechanical design he was responsible for the mechanical design of theNimitzclass reactor components and control drive mechanism technology development. Mr. Yanus is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. Glen H. Nickodemusgraduated from Michigan State University in 1964 with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. He joined the Pittsburgh-Des Moines Corporation in July of the same year. A master of science degree in civil engineering was obtained from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1973. He received a bachelor of electrical engineering degree from College of the City of New York in 1960. Mr. Stern joined Dynell Electronics Corporation in 1971 and became part of the Robotic Vision Systems Inc. staff at the time of its spin-off from Dynell. He was program manager of the various three-dimensional sensing and replication systems constructed by Dynell and Robotic Vision Systems. As program manager his responsibilities encompassed technical administrative and operational areas. The first two portrait sculpture studio systems and the first three replication systems built by Robotic Vision Systems Inc. were designed manufactured and operated under his direction. Before joining Dynell Mr. Stern was a senior engineer at Instrument Systems Corporation and chief engineer of the Special Products Division of General Instrument Corporation. Prior to these positions Mr. Stern was chief engineer of Edo Commercial Corporation. At General Instrument and Edo Commercial he was responsible for the design and manufacture of military and commercial avionics equipment. Mr. Stern is presently responsible for directing the systems design and development for all of the company's programs. Robert J.
