Fuzzy time series forecasting model is an effective method to solve the nonlinear problems forecasting. However, most published fuzzy time series based models did not count the change trend implicit in historical datum. In this paper, authors proposed a novel method which applied heuristic information to the fuzzy time series model based on Fibonacci sequence. As an example, the USD/JPY exchange rate is tested in this model. The results show that this method not only improves the forecasting accuracy, but decreases the computational complexity.

In order to provide the high quality service for transporting video streaming in the Bluetooth Piconet, in which the bandwidth is limited and the structure is heterogeneous, a MAC scheduling algorithm for video streaming in the Bluetooth Piconet is proposed. The main idea of the algorithm is to model the video streaming and calculate the importance of the packet relative to the video quality before transporting. The packet on the transportation is scheduled by the importance in the MAC layer to attain the maximum perceived quality of the overall Slaves in the Piconet. The simulation shows that the proposed algorithm can assign the network resource more efficiently, and improve the perceived video quality of the Slaves in the Piconet more significantly in contrast with the other algorithms.

In this paper, a handle-electrode system is proposed for obtaining the heart rate of a user while riding a bicycle. The system was designed to measure the user's heart rate by only gripping the handle of a bicycle. Three electrodes made from conductive cloth were adhered to the handle. A method detecting heart-rate from the obtained electrocardiogram was also proposed. To assess the applicability of the proposed system, a simple experiment was performed. The experiment was performed in four conditions of road surfaces; lawn, asphalt, a tiled, and an uneven road. Experimental result suggests that the proposed system can be useful for obtaining R waves while riding a bicycle.

In this paper, a method of estimating both the position and the rotation angle of an object on a measurement stage was proposed. The system utilizes the radio communication technology and the directivity of an antenna. As a prototype system, a measurement stage (a circle 240mm in diameter) with 36 antennas that placed in each 10 degrees was developed. Two transmitter antennas are settled in a right angle on the stage as the target object, and the position and the rotation angle is estimated by measuring efficiency of the radio communication of each 36 antennas. The experimental result revealed that even when the estimated location is not so accurate (about a 30 mm error), the rotation angle is accurately estimated (about 2.33 degree error on average). The result suggests that the proposed method will be useful for estimating the location and the direction of an object.

Smart antennas may enhance performance by applying conventional algorithms such as maximal-ratio combining (MRC) or maximum average signal-to-noise-ratio beamforming, i.e., statistical beamforming (BF). However, MRC and BF yield advantages that offset their complexity only for extreme antenna correlation values, which seldom occur for space-limited base-station antenna arrays deployed in typical urban (TU) scenarios, with predominantly-small, random, azimuth spread (AS). Therefore, the principles of BF and MRC have been integrated to forge maximal-ratio eigencombining (MREC), which promises to reap the available array and diversity gains more effectively. Nonetheless, the relative performance and numerical complexity of MREC, BF, and MRC have not yet been investigated for channel estimated from received-signal-vector samples in a TU uplink scenario with realistic Laplacian base-station power azimuth spectrum and log-normally distributed AS with exponential temporal correlation. Therefore, herein, Yangpsilas effective and low-complexity deflation-based projection approximation subspace tracking (PASTd) algorithm is deployed to recursively update the channel eigenstructure required for MREC adapted to AS using the classical bias-variance tradeoff criterion (BVTC). Simulation results indicate that BVTC-based MREC can significantly outperform BF for much lower complexity than MRC.
