In order to overcome the shortcomings of Garcia's watermarking algorithm, an improved adaptive synchronous audio watermarking algorithm is proposed. In this algorithm, both the psychoacoustic model and the auditory masking threshold are used to determine the embedding positions of watermarking for the purpose of ensuring the imperceptibility of watermarking, the synchronization code is embedded in die audio signal in time domain to withstand synchronous attacks, and the audio signal is segmented and the watermarking is self-adaptively embedded in each segment. Moreover, a sequence number is embedded in the front of each segment to discriminate different segments. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is robust against synchronous attacks and effective in processing common audio signals, and that it obviously improves the imperceptibility of watermarking.

Due to the limited power supply, sensors have to switch between sleeping mode and awake mode at a low duty cycle to extend the network life-time. Therefore, when localizing a mobile node, it is possible that a seed node is passed by the mobile node during its sleeping mode, so that the mobile node cannot collect enough seed information and fails to be localized consequently. In this paper, a dynamic sleep scheduling mechanism, namely P-SWIM is proposed. In P-SWIM, each seed is proactively notified if a mobile node is moving toward it, so that only these seeds should remain active in full duty when the mobile node passes by them, while the other seeds can still stay in the low duty cycle mode. P-SWIM can ensure enough seed connectivity around the mobile node, which is necessary for successful mobile localization. Simulation results indicate that localization algorithms based on P-SWIM can achieve better localization performance than those based on the other two sleep scheduling mechanisms, RIS and GAF. Moreover, P-SWIM causes least running overhead to the network overall power consumption among the three mechanisms, at most 47.6% and 60.2% less than RIS and GAF.

In recent years, wireless technologies have been employed by Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS) to reduce the cost of wiring, especially for some secure sites which are not wiring-friendly, However, the PIDS based on state-of-art wireless media such as WLAN, ZigBee, or UWB, suffers from remote distance and noisy wireless links which are easy to fail due to obstacles, signal shadowing and fading. In this paper we propose a PIDS using GPRS and CDMA dual-mode wireless sensor networks (DM-WSNs) to deliver an optimal data transmission service. Moreover. Auto Shutdown mechanism is proposed to address the energy conservation for battery powered sensor devices. We deploy the DW-WSNs in the PIDS of an airport in China, to safeguard the parking apron against illegal intrusion. Practice experience indicates that the DM-WSNs can achieve a better network quality and fully satisfy the first-response requirement of airport security.

Since the current rate control schemes in H.264 do not present the capability of efficient GOP-level bit allocation, the video quality varies greatly for sequences with the scene change or the scene complexity varying from one GOP to another. To overcome the limitation, we propose a novel rate control scheme based on incremental PID algorithm. The incremental PID algorithm is introduced to minimize video quality variations in GOP-level bit allocation. Extensive simulation results show that the proposed rate control scheme, without expensive computational complexity added, decreases the average video quality variations by 15.07%.

In Chinese Question Answering System, in order to improve the accuracy of the passage retrieval which includes answers, this paper presents a method to compute the weight of passage based on the analysis of current passage retrieval methods. The word frequency of query words and query expansion words in passage, the length of passage;the distribution density and minimum match span of query words and query expansion words in passage are considered. The weight calculation of the answer passage is realized. And candidate passage set is retrieved on the basis of the weight Calculation. The experiment result on passage retrieval shows that this method has good effects that the MRR value equals 0.50.

In the Chinese question answering system, the answer extraction is generally realized by extracting answers from answer sentence pattern which is corresponded to the question. But the extraction of answer sentence pattern greatly depended on expert's language knowledge, so the patterns can't be listed fully that the precision of the answer extraction will be affected. A method that the answer sentence pattern can be obtained by machine learning is proposed in this paper. All types of Chinese question answer pairs are statistically analyzed, the query of question is constructed, and then the corresponding documents are recalled by search engines. Next, the sentence patterns with the maximum weights are selected as the candidate answer sentence pattern by calculating the weight of sentence patterns in corresponding document. At last, the answer to the question is extracted from the Internet based on the answers sentence pattern which has been obtained. The experiment on extracting answer for Chinese factoid question is done. The experiment results make a very good effect that the MRAR value equals 0.28.
