Thermochromic smart windows effectively reduce the energy consumption for buildings through passive light modulation including the transmission ofvisible(TVis)and near-infrared(TNIR)light,and the emissivity of mid-infrared light(εMIR)in response to ambient temperature ***,thermochromic windows that maintain high TVis while modulating TNIR and εMIR simultaneously are highly desirable but still ***,we develop a thermochromic smart window based on a two-way shape memory polymer to enable reversible transformation and achieve TNIR modulation of 44.0%andεMIR modulation of 76.5%while maintaining high TVis(>50%).Compared to traditional windows based on silica glass,this device shows 4℃ lower temperature in summer daytime,2℃ higher in winter daytime,and 1℃ higher in spring *** is expected that our device can achieve greater annual energy savings in comparison with commercial glass anywhere in the world and promote the progress of thermochromic windows for energy-efficient buildings.

Marine corrosion and biofouling are challenges that affect marine industrial equipment,and protecting equipment with functional coatings is a simple and effective ***,it is extremely difficult to combine anti-corrosion and anti-fouling properties in a single *** this work,we combine reduced graphene oxide(rGO)/silver nanoparticles(AgNPs)with a hydrophilic polymer in a bio-based silicone-epoxy resin to create a coating with both anti-fouling and anti-corrosion *** excel-lent anti-fouling performance of the coating results from a ternary synergistic mechanism involving foul-ing release,contact inhibition,and a hydration effect,while the outstanding anti-corrosion performance is provided by a ternary synergistic anti-corrosion mechanism that includes a dense interpenetrating net-work(IPN)structure,a barrier effect,and *** results show that the obtained coating pos-sesses superior anti-fouling activity against protein,bacteria,algae,and other marine organisms,as well as excellent anti-corrosion and certain self-healing properties due to its dynamic cross-linked net-work of rGO/AgNPs and the hydrophilic *** work provides an anti-corrosion and anti-fouling integrated coating for marine industrial equipment.

Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) nanosheets have attracted significant attention for their potential in electromagnetic wave absorption(EWA).However,their inherent self-stacking and exorbitant electrical conductivity inevitably lead to serious impedance mismatch,restricting their EWA ***,the optimization of impedance matching becomes *** this work,we developed polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@SiO_(2) composites with a sandwich-like core–shell structure by coating SiO_(2) on PMMA@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x).The results demonstrate that the superiority of the SiO_(2) layer in combination with PMMA@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x),outperforming other relative graded distribution structures and meeting the requirements of EWA *** resulting PMMA@Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@SiO_(2) composites achieved a minimum reflection loss of-58.08 dB with a thickness of 1.9 mm,and an effective absorption bandwidth of 2.88 *** analysis revealed that the structural design of SiO_(2) layer not only optimized impedance matching,but also synergistically enhanced multiple loss mechanisms such as interfacial polarization and dipolar ***,this work provides valuable insights for the future preparation of high-performance electromagnetic wave absorbing Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)-based composites.

Chalcogenide phase-change materials(PCMs) have attracted great attentions due to their potential applications in reconfigurable photonic devices. The Ge2Sb2Te5and GeTe PCMs exhibit significant difference in refractive index(Δn) between amorphous and crystalline states, but they suffer from high optical loss. The binary Sb2S3and Sb2Se3PCMs, however, show low optical loss but small Δn. This encourages us to develop the novel materials,which are desired to combine large Δn and low optical loss. Instead of traditional trial-and-error screening method, we here used an efficient high-throughput method to optimize the PCMs' candidates for reconfigurable photonic devices in Ge-Se-Te chalcogenides. The crystallization temperature and difference in optical bandgap were detected, and then the component of Ge25Se7Te68, which also exhibits ultralow optical loss of 1.2 × 10-6(in amorphous state) and large Δn of 1.32 at 1550 nm, was optimized. This Te-rich Ge-Se-Te film can be a candidate for the applications of programmable reconfigurable photonic circuits.
