COVId-19 outbreaks and becomes serious from 2019 winter. Taking body temperature, wearing masks, recording footprint and avoiding crowds become important tasks and require a lot of manpower support for the prevention of the epidemic in every. In this study, we have integrated the infrared thermometer devices to measure people temperature and the people identities through RGB images at the entrance of buildings. Using the computer vision and deep learning methods, we would like to build a 24/7 and region-wide coverage assistance system to automatically record the footprint of a specific people in the building. We also detect if people taking off their masks in the yard at any time. The processing videos are grabbed from the existing CCTV systems. The developed system also locates the crowd and calculate the number of people in a specified area, and the manager can know the number of people and control the access in real time. It will reduce the burden of manpower. In addition, we have optimized the system performance to handle multiple camera videos and to reduce the hardware cost at the same time.

Soil is a renewable and valuable medium for variety of life. In Pakistan, factory effluents and domestic wastewater is generally not recycled and it contaminates the agricultural soils adjacent to nearby drains. Five screened isolates were subjected to azo dye decolorization (Reactive Black, Red Reactive, Blue direct, Congo Red direct) in the presence of NaCl, at variable ph levels and at different carbon sources. Isolate Sr-7, Ss-2-1 showed best decolorization ability in terms of all the azo dyes studied. Similarly, isolates Sr-2-1/1 and Mr-1/1 exhibited maximum phosphate solubilization and IAA production potential. The screened isolates can be used as inoculants to increase crop productivity in problem soils and can also be applied in wastewater treatments processes. © 2021 IEEE.

Here we demonstrate that cancer metastasis could be modulated by the judicious tuning of physical parameters such as photothermal temperature in nanoparticle-mediated photothermal therapy (PTT). This is supported by theranostic nanosystem design and characterization, in vitro and in vivo analyses, and transcriptome-based gene profiling. In this work, the highly efficient near-infrared II (NIR-II) photoacoustic image (PA)-guided PTT are selectively activated using our developed matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-triggered in situ assembly of gold nanodandelions (GNds@gelatin). Unlike other "always-on" NIR PTT agents lacking specific bioactivation and suffering from the intrinsic nonspecific pseudosignals and treatment-related side effects such as metastasis, our GNds@gelatin possesses important advantages while deployed in cancer PTT that include the following: (1) The theranostic effects could be "turned on" only after specific MMP-2/-9 activity and with acidity in the tumor microenvironment. (2) The quantitative PA diagnosis allows for precise PTT planning for better cancer treatment. (3) GNds@gelatin could noninvasively quantify MMP activity and efficiently harness NIR-I (808 nm) and NIR-II (1064 nm) energies for tumor ablation. (4) The multibranched nanostructures reabsorb scattered laser photons, thus enhancing the surface plasmons for the pronounced photothermal conversion of aggregated GNds@gelatin in situ. (5) It is noteworthy that in situ tumor eradication at higher PTT temperature (>55 °C) mediated by GNds@gelatin could induce subsequent metastasis, which could be otherwise abolished at lower PTT temperatures (50 °C > T > 43 °C). (6) Furthermore, the gene profiling using transcriptome-based microarray including GO and KEGG analyses revealed that 315 differentially expressed genes were identified in higher PTT temperature treated tumors compared with lower PTT temperature ones. In this paper, a dual-channel converter with a positive output and negative voltage output is proposed. It integrates a positive voltage output converter and a negative voltage output converter, and shares the same switches. The number of active components can be reduced. In addition, the circuit can achieve dual output voltage control with a single controller and PWM drive signal by appropriately designing the ratio of the number of windings of the coupling inductor. A regulated positive voltage output and negative voltage output can be achieved.

Two-phase cost-sensitive-learning-based framework on customer-side quality inspection for TFT-LCd industry

The Covid-19 outbreak in 2020 boosted the stay-at-home economy, causing a surge in electronics industry demand, especially benefiting the LCd panel sector. However, as the pandemic situation improved, countries revised policies, leading to the gradual discontinuation of remote work arrangements in various industries. This resulted in declining dividends for the stay-at-home economy. The decreased demand created intense competition within the TFT-LCd industry, urging panel companies to prioritize product quality enhancement to meet customer expectations. Panel quality inspection heavily relied on manual labor, causing varying inspection levels due to subjective judgments. Understanding and aligning with customer expectations regarding product quality inspections became imperative. Identifying defective products during inspection led to additional costs for the companies. Balancing customer product quality requirements and re-inspection costs became crucial for optimal benefits. This study addresses the binary classification problem of customer-side quality inspection through cost-sensitive learning. The predictive model considers panel process yield, production history, customer feedback, inspection capacity constraints, and cost minimization to predict panel quality as accepted or defective. To tackle the highly imbalanced data, a two-phase cost-sensitive-learning-based framework is proposed, combining data preprocessing methods and models, while considering re-inspection capacity constraints and costs to enhance accuracy. The model’s evaluation uses key performance indicators like AUC and G-mean. Actual inspection cost and defective parts per million (dPPM) are calculated based on the company’s practical assessment. To look in-depth into the traditional Mexican truffle, this study investigated the phytochemical and pharmacological properties of field-collected corn galls and the fermentate of its pathogen Ustilago maydis MZ496986. Here, we established the chemical profiles of both materials via the gradient HPLC-UV method and successfully identified six previously unreported chemical entities, ustilagols A-F (1-6), and 17 known components. Compounds 3, 5, and 9 exhibited potent nitric oxide production inhibitory activities in murine brain microglial BV-2 cells (IC50 = 6.7 ± 0.5, 5.8 ± 0.9, and 3.9 ± 0.1 μM) without cytotoxic effects. dIMBOA (9) also attenuates lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated NF-κB activation in RAW 264.7 macrophages (IC50 = 58.1 ± 7.2 μM). Ustilagol G (7) showed potent antiplatelet aggregation in U46619-stimulated human platelets (IC50 = 16.5 ± 5.3 μM). These findings highlighted the potential of corn galls and U. maydis MZ496986 fermentate as functional foods for improving inflammation-related discomforts and vascular obstruction. © 2023 American Chemical Society.

People increasingly prioritize a balanced diet to enhance well-being, yet making informed dietary choices remains challenging amidst the abundance of options. To address this, we developed a meal image recognition and healthy meal combination recommender system, integrating generative artificial intelligence (AI). Convolutional neural networks were used for precise meal image recognition to identify diverse food items. The generative AI-augmented recommendation engine offers personalized meal suggestions aligned with nutritional goals and dietary preferences, utilizing a nutrition knowledge base to ensure overall well-being. The system's feasibility was validated, illustrating its excellence in meal recognition accuracy, recommendation diversity, and user engagement. By integrating generative AI, the system shows its potential to enhance dietary recommendations and public health.

Rectifier plays a pivotal role in wireless power transfer systems. While numerous studies have concentrated on enhancing efficiency and bandwidth at specific high-power levels, practical scenarios often involve unpredictable power inputs. Consequently, a distinct need arises for a rectifier that demonstrates superior efficiency across a broad range of input power levels. This paper introduces a high-power RF-to-dC rectifier designed for WPT applications, featuring an ultrawide dynamic range of input power. The rectification process leverages a GaN (gallium nitride) high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) to efficiently handle high power levels up to 12.6 W. The matching circuit was designed to ensure that the rectifier will operate in class-F mode. A Schottky diode is incorporated into the design for relatively lower-power rectification. Seamless switching between the rectification modes of the two circuits is accomplished through the integration of a circulator. The proposed rectifier exhibits a 27.5 dB dynamic range, achieving an efficiency exceeding 55% at 2.4 GHz. Substantial improvement in power handling and dynamic range over traditional rectifiers is demonstrated. © 2024 by the authors.

In this research, we propose a humming-to-instrument conversion system based on cycle-consistent adversarial networks (CycleGAN) to convert human humming to the sound of viola. This research adjusts the weight of cycle-consistency loss and identity loss to successfully convert the sound. From the experimental results of objective RMSE, the converted audio is more similar to viola compared to the similarity to humming. From the results of subjective MOS, the quality of the converted sound is fair to listeners. © 2021 IEEE.

Bone quality in zebrafish vertebrae improves after alendronate administration in a glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis model

Glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP) changes the microarchitecture of bones and often leads to the reduction of bone-mineral density (BMd) and increased fracture rates. Zebrafish has been used as an alternative model for GIOP, however, the interaction of GIOP, and its treatment, with zebrafish bone morphometrics and mechanical properties, remains a challenge. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of prednisolone and alendronate on the properties of zebrafish vertebrae. Adult 7-month-old zebrafish were distributed into four groups: control (CTRL), prednisolone-only (PN), alendronate-only (ALN), and the sequential use of both medicines (PN + ALN). Fish skeletons were scanned via micro-tomography (n = 3) to obtain vertebra morphometrics (e.g., BMd). Bone morphology was assessed using scanning electron microscopy (n = 4) and the biomechanical behaviour with nanoindentation technique (n = 3). The BMd decreased in PN (426.08 ± 18.58 mg/cm3) and ALN (398.23 ± 10.20 mg/cm3) groups compared to the CTRL (490.43 ± 41.96 mg/cm3) (p 3) (p > 0.05). The bone layered structures remain preserved in all groups.
