Intermetallic aluminide compounds possess several potential advantages compared to alloyed steels,like enhanced oxidation resistance,lower density and the omittance of critical raw *** aluminides,compared to other transition metal-aluminides of TM_(3)-Al type,although having a higher density compared to titan-aluminides,have a lower density compared to nickel-aluminides,but also a higher ductility than both alternatives,making this material potentially effective in ballistic protection ***-wise,this material may be a worthy alternative to armour steels,which was the aim of this *** materials,Fe_(3)Al intermetallic compound(F3A-C)and Armox 500 armour steel were ballistically tested against tungsten-carbide(WC)armour-piercing ammunition,in accordance with STANAG *** ballistic testing,microhardness and metallographic testing were performed,revealing differences in strain hardening,crack propagation mode and exit hole morphology.F3A-C ballistic resistance is similar to that of armour steel,in spite of the lower tensile and impact mechanical properties,relying on a considerably higher strain hardening rate,thermal properties and a lower density.

In the context of the fifth-generation(5G)smart era,the demand for electromagnetic wave(EMW)-absorbing materials has become increasingly prominent,so it is necessary to explore promising candidate *** work focuses on the exploration of the material absorbing properties of a MoAlB MAB(MAB represents a promising group of alternatives,where M stands for a transition metal,A typically denotes Al,and B is boron)phase ***,the first-principles calculations were performed to reveal the unique crystal and layered structure of the MoAlB ceramics and to predict their potential for use as an EMW absorption ***,a series of MoAlB ceramics were synthesized at temperatures ranging from 800 to 1300℃,and the influence of temperature on the phase compositions and microstructures of the obtained MoAlB ceramics was characterized and ***,the practical EMW absorption performance of the prepared MoAlB ceramics was evaluated via a combination of experiments and radar cross-sectional *** MoAlB sample synthesized at 900℃ exhibits superior EMW absorption performance,achieving an impressive minimum reflection loss(RL)of−50.33 *** unique layered structure and good electrical conductivity of the MoAlB samples are the main reasons for their enhanced wave absorption performance,which provides interfacial polarization and multiple dielectric loss ***,this study not only contributes to the understanding of the preparation of MoAlB materials but also provides potential guidance for their utilization in the realm of electromagnetic wave absorption.

Poly(ethylene oxide)-based polymer all-solid-state lithium metal batteries(ASSLBs)have received widespread attention due to their low cost,good process ability,and high energy ***,the growth of Li dendrites within polymer solid-state electrolytes damages the reversibility of Li anodes and still impedes their widespread *** efficient strategy is to construct a superior solid electrolyte ***,a stable interface enriched with Li3N and LiF is in-situ formed between Li anode and a terna ry salt *** terna ry salt electrolyte is innovatively designed by introducing lithium bis(trifluoromethane sulfonyl)imide(LiTFSI),lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide(LiFSI),and LiNO_(3)to poly(ethylene oxide)*** characterization indicates that LiNO3and LiFSI contribute to forming a Li3N-LiF-enriched interface and meanwhile LiTFSI ensures excellent ***,among various Li compound components,Li3N has high ionic conductivity,which is beneficial for reducing overpotential,while LiF has high interfacial energy which can enhance nucleation energy and suppress the formation of Li *** experimental results show that ASSLBs coupled with LiFePO4cathode display extremely excellent cycle stability approximately 2200 cycles at 2 C,with a final and corresponding discharge specific capacity of 96.7 mA h g^(-1).Additionally,a schematic illustration of the working mechanism for the Li_(3)N-LiF interface is proposed.

Effects of cation vacancies on the structure, electrical transport properties and low-field magnetoresistance of La1-xMnO3+δ (δ > 0.06) ceramics

LaMnO3 containing cation vacancies can exhibit metal-insulator (M − I) transition and colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) effect without the need for doping with other metal ions, garnering significant attention in recent years. However, the synergistic effect of La and Mn vacancies on the magnetoelectric properties of LaMnO3 remains insufficiently explored. In this study, polycrystalline La1-xMnO3+δ ceramics were synthesized using the sol-gel method, and the effects of La and Mn vacancies on their structural and electrical transport properties were systematically investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed that all ceramics were single-phase with a R-3cH space group. With the increase of x, the La vacancy concentration increased from 5.3 % to 7.9 %, while the Mn vacancy concentration decreased from 5.3 % to 2.0 %. Notably, when x ≥ 3 mol%, an M − I transition was observed in La1-xMnO3+δ ceramics. Our findings indicate that the Mn vacancy concentration, rather than the Mn3+/Mn4+ ratio, plays a dominant role in the M − I transition of La1-xMnO3+δ ceramics, which can be explained using the percolation conduction model. Furthermore, a negative temperature coefficient of resistivity above −2.2 % K−1 was observed over a wide temperature range, and a low-field magnetoresistance of 29.5 % was measured at 130.1 K. This study highlights the critical role of Mn vacancies in modulating the electrical transport properties of LaMnO3 and provides new insights into the influence of cation vacancies on the magnetoelectric properties of materials. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.

Stainless steel (SS) is a type of material used in the Oil and Gas Industry because of its corrosive resistance. A σ phase will be formed if SS is exposed to high temperatures for a long time. The appearance of σ occurs slowly, which is manifested by a change in the color of the SS surface. The presence of σ marked in dark blue indicates that the area has been corroded. This study is a follow-up study from the previous one aiming at testing the association between the variables involved in the SS corrosion problem. The material was processed with a series of treatments in the laboratory to produce images. Then, three locations were selected from the images to carry out a circular grid process and calculate the frequency of their color. The frequency listed in the contingency table was the data used to calculate the association between the location and color-based corrosion indicator variable using Chi-square and Cramer’s V. The result showed that although locations A, B, and C were from the different grain, location variables and corrosion indicator variables based on color were dependent. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

This research investigates the potential of blending complementary lard oil with rubber seed oil as feedstock for biodiesel *** seed oil,obtained through hexane extraction using the Soxhlet method,contains the major fatty acids of oleic acid(C_(18:1)),palmitic acid(C_(16:0)),linoleic acid(C_(18:2)),and stearic acid(C_(18:0)),while rubber seed oil primarily consists of linoleic acid(C_(18:2)),oleic acid(C_(18:1)),linolenic acid(C_(18:3)),palmitic acid(C_(16:0)),and stearic acid(C_(18:0)).The least acid value of lard oil(0.55 mg KOH/g)can benefit of reducing soap formation of rubber seed oil during transesterification process in biodiesel production due to its substantial-high acid value(16.28 mg KOH/g).Blending at ratios below 80:20 volume ratio produced biodiesel exceeding 85%,utilizing CaO as a *** oil demonstrated a higher reaction rate constant(11.88×10^(-3)min^(-1))than rubber seed oil(2.11×10^(-3)min^(-1)),indicating a significant difference in *** acid value and free fatty acids in rubber seed oil correlated with lower reaction *** a mixture ratio below 80:20 volume ratio optimized reaction rates during biodiesel *** obtained from blends below 80:20 volume ratio met ASTM D6751 and EN 14214 standards,demonstrating suitability for bio-auto *** drawbacks of using rubber seed oil as a raw material for biodiesel production are overcome by blending with lard oil,giving rise to expanding renewable energy options for rural communities,community enterprises,and large-scale biodiesel production.

Pregnancy induces various physiological adaptations to accommodate the growing fetus. Pregnant women commonly experience changes in gait, balance, and center of gravity, which may increase the risk of falls. This study investigates the effects of negative heel shoes on plantar pressure distribution during walking in third-trimester pregnant women. Twelve healthy primigravidas participated, wearing both flat shoes and negative heel shoes while walking. Plantar pressure data were collected using the Pedar-X® insole system. Results revealed that negative heel shoes significantly reduced maximum force in the medial forefoot regions compared to flat shoes, and the force-time integral only significantly decreased in the medial forefoot region. Wearing negative-heeled shoes resulted in an increase in peak force in the hallux region. The study suggests that modifying heel-toe drop in shoes can effectively mitigate plantar pressure during third-trimester pregnancy, reducing the risk of forefoot discomfort and potential injuries. Negative heel shoes could be beneficial for pregnant women, offering a solution to alleviate forefoot pressure and promote foot blood circulation during walking. However, further optimization is needed in the hallux region for negative heel shoes. © The Author(s), 2024.

This study presents the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) modeling of coiling temperature (CT) for the dual-phase (DP) steel in hot strip mill (HSM) of Tata Steel. CT is highly affecting the final mechanical properties of steel, so it is one of the important parameters in the production of DP steel and hence its modeling becomes important. Even there found lack of CT model in literature, and due to all these reasons, present modeling work is undertaken. The new CT model developed using ANN for HSM by considering critical parameters at run out table which are directly responsible for the variation of CT value. Developed CT model found reliable with correlation coefficient value of 88.4%. Finally, the CT model is validated with actual measured CT for DP steel which was not considered for modeling and it was found that CT model is affirming well with the actual CT pattern for the considered DP steel. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In today’s digital age, the Internet is pivotal in bringing both convenience and security concerns. Individuals are vulnerable to unauthorized access and manipulation of their information by potential attackers. A notable cybersecurity threat revolves around injections, a method for introducing malicious code into web applications, creating vulnerabilities that attackers can exploit. Within the scope of this study, our attention has been directed toward a specific form of injection attack known as cross-site scripting (XSS). Following thorough research, our strategic direction involves adopting a bagging ensemble learning method for detecting XSS anomalies. The random forest classifier was employed as the chosen model in this approach.
