The martempering process produces thin martensitic stainless steel strips and is widely used for production of valve- and spring steel. Industrial trials were conducted in collaboration with Böhler Uddeholm Precision Strip, Munkfors, Sweden. These trials suggested that the quenching step is critical to control, in order to reduce uneven temperature gradients which will lead to distortions or unevenness. To investigate this, computational modelling of the temperature was performed to estimate the current situation for the conventional martempering process based on physical theories together with Comsol Multiphysics and using a steady state modeling approach. The model boundary conditions were based upon temperature measurements in the real process. Furthermore, the strip was modelled as it comes out of the heating furnace, which is filled with hydrogen gas and continues into a molten lead-bismuth bath for quenching. Thus, the temperature profile was obtained for the strip as well as its surroundings; The results show that a better insight of the martempering line could be achieved. The model results can be used to investigate disturbances in the normal operation. Furthermore, the temperature profiles can be used to optimize the process and possibly to reduce the energy consumption.

Gradual environmental degradation, shrinking of non-renewable resources, and lower quality of life are directly or indirectly arising from snowballing consumption. These unfavorable processes concern increasingly textile and clothing sector and are increasingly being felt in Visegrad Region (V4). The objective of the article was to access current consumption patterns in V4 countries, identify the factors that influence those patterns and finally to draw the conclusions for more sustainable consumption and production models as well as to make a comparative analysis of the results across V4 countries. A consumer survey was conducted to examine V4 citizens' attitudes and behaviors in the context of sustainable consumption. To ensure sample size and comparability across countries 2000 randomly-selected V4 citizens, aged 18 and over, were interviewed. To analyze the supply side of the market and legal framework, the desk research was used. The results allowed to give some guidelines for the joint V4 strategy for solving ecological and social problems of V4 countries as well as the conclusions for textile and clothing sector.

Two dimensional asynchronous spectra were used to characterize coordination between carbonyl group of butanone and metal ions by using an approach proposed in our recent *** variation of n-π^*transition band of carbonyl group is used to probe the coordination even if metal ions does not possess any characteristic peak in *** results indicate that Ca^2+ and Al^3+ show considerable ability to coordinate with the carbonyl group of butanone and bring about spectral variation of the n-π-*transition band, which is manifested by cross peaks in 2D asynchronous spectra.

This study investigates the effect of hydrophilicity of graphene oxide as additive towards properties and performance on polysulfone (PSf) membrane. A polysulfone (PSf) membrane containing graphene oxide (GO) with different content was prepared via phase inversion technique. Characterization on the fabricated membrane were water contact angle measurement, porosity and mean pore size. The effects of PSf/GO were further investigated in terms of permeation test, rejection test and antifouling test. Based on the result obtained, PSf membrane incorporating with GO additive shows better capability to permeate more water compared to unfilled PSf membrane. The PSf/GO membrane were able to increase the permeate rate rapidly with the highest value is given by sample 4 (consist of 0.7 g of GO) at 571.78 J/m2h. Furthermore, water contact angle confirmed the hydrophilicity of this membrane at 62°. The transmembrane fouling activity showed that GO embedded in PSf membrane has improved tremendously. In addition, this study revealed that 0.7g of GO had the highest permeation test, rejection test and antifouling test.

This paper reports a new method for controlling micro- and nano-droplets by the aid of heat. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation results suggest this technique is capable of conveniently controlling the droplets sizes down to several micrometers or even nanometers. This pilot research offers the possibility of fabricating micro-droplet with specific size and without changing the fluid. Three factors are studied, including the temperature of continuous phase, the temperature of discrete phase and the temperature gradient on the orifice. The results show that heat transfer between the two phases is fast as characteristic length is in micron level. Increase in temperature can lead to the increase of the droplet radius, wherein the effect of the continuous phase temperature is the most significant.
