(001)-textured L1 0 -phase FePd possesses strong crystalline perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) and low Gilbert damping constant and thus, is considered a promising material choice for scalable spintronic devices. To date, however, well-textured L1 0 -FePd(001) thin films can only be prepared on a few expensive substrates, which directly impedes their industry compatibility and application prospect. In this digest, we report the deposition of L1 0 -FePd(001) single layer and synthetic antiferromagnet (SAF) on industry-ready Si/SiO 2 wafers with large PMA, low damping, and strong antiferromagnetic interlayer exchange coupling. The microstructures of L1 0 -FePd(001) single layer and SAF were imaged using scanning transmission electron microscopy. We observed sharp and flat interfaces between each layer as well as the heteroepitaxial growth of sample stacks, which explains the high performance of the samples.

The need for energy conservation and environmental protection have triggered the development and deployment of electric vehicles. Light electric vehicles and fossil fuel based light vehicles are popular means of transport for short distances in not only remote rural areas but also in places of tourist attractions. For Islands in the tropical belt like the Sunderbans in India and other pristine sea beaches in South East Asia where nature is luxuriantly present, green transportation is proposed in this work. The objective is to develop environment friendly transport for these natural havens and islands that have ample renewable resources especially in the form of solar power. In this work, a model of a light electric vehicle is developed that utilizes the solar energy during the daytime for charging its batteries. Battery charge controller inbuilt with boost based MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) of solar irradiation have especially been designed to meet the requirements. The efficiency of the designed MPPT is studied. As accumulation of dust and sand reduces the solar module efficiency, an automated self-cleaning mechanism has also been designed that automatically cleans the solar panel regularly. The life cycle cost and the reduction in carbon emissions coupled with the Cost of Capital Investment and operating expenses of the developed model of green transportation far outweighs the similar values obtained from other modes of remote transportation.

In mobile robotics, an essential requirement for the fusion of different sensors is that measurements are expressed with respect to the same reference. In this sense, the transformation between sensors and robot is necessary to ensure better sensor fusion. Therefore, this article proposes an extrinsic sensor calibration based on markers and associated to three orthogonal planes. This technique is applied to two calibration approaches, LiDAR-Robot and LiDAR-Camera. The first one calculates the transformation between a 3D LiDAR sensor and a robot, and the second system calculates the transformation between a 3D LiDAR and an embedded RGB camera. To demonstrate the efficiency of our method, we performed simulations on the CoppeliaSim simulator and experiments in the laboratory. Then, the results show that it is possible to calibrate the sensors with the methodologies.
