Exfoliated graphites have been widely used in many applications, especially in the gaskets for high-pressure vessels. Despite intensively used, the fundamental understanding of their physical and chemical behavior is relatively insufficient. In this research, the exfoliated graphite was made by the method of intercalation and exfoliation of the natural graphite. Their micro structure s before and after intercalation and exfoliation have been examined by scanning electronic microscope. The exfoliated graphite was then compressed to make thin sheets, in which their densities can be tailored by controlling the amount of the material in a fixed thickness. The thermal conductivity of the resulting carbon sheets was measured, and the relationship between the density and the thermal conductivity is studied.

Additives play a crucial role in enhancing the photovoltaic performance of polymer solar cells(PSCs).However,the typical additives used to optimize blend morphology of PSCs are still high boiling-point solvents,while their trace residues may reduce device ***,an effective strategy of“solidification of solvent additive(SSA)”has been developed to convert additive from liquid to solid,by introducing a covalent bond into low-cost solvent diphenyl sulfide(DPS)to synthesize solid dibenzothiophene(DBT)in one-step,which achieves optimized morphology thus promoting efficiency and device *** to the fine planarity and volatilization of DBT,the DBT-processed films achieve ordered molecular crystallinity and suitable phase separation compared to the additive-free or DPS-treated ***,the DBT-processed device also possesses improved light absorption,enhanced charge transport,and thus a champion efficiency of 17.9%is achieved in the PM6:Y6-based PSCs with an excellent additive component tolerance,reproducibility,and ***,the DBT-processed PM6:L8-BO-based PSCs are further fabricated to study the universality of SSA strategy,offering an impressive efficiency approaching19%as one of the highest values in binary *** conclusion,this article developed a promising strategy named SSA to boost efficiency and improve stability of PSCs.

Machining parameter design is vital for old and/or new machine tools in small- and medium-scale manufacturing firms as they operate under tight profit margins. The concept of 'parameter design' and related computations proposed in the engineering robust design (ERD) approach enables the design of parameter combinations under the noise. It is vital to investigate the optimal machining parameter combination, especially when the existing machinery becomes mature or when machining a metal, whose machining parameters are unknown. This manuscript proposes a mathematical framework, which it is possible to utilize for the investigation of the optimal combination of parameters in metalworking or engineering processes. A case study has been performed to investigate the optimal parameter combination of the abrasive water jet cutting (AWJC) process. Experimentation has been performed to establish the initial machining parameters and their levels, with the expert knowledge of machinists. The optimal parameter combination is identified using experiments and subsequent computations. Using the additive model proposed in the ERD approach, the theoretical value of target output performance under the optimal parameter combination is calculated. A verification experiment has been performed to verify the optimal parameter combination.
