Abstract: We develop the method of functional equations to solve the -linear problem for analytic functions for a circular coated domain. The solution is obtained in the form of series in symbolic form. Numerical examples are given, and the accuracy of the obtained solutions are analyzed. The -linear problem models antiplane shear in elastic fiber composites. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. 2024.

The key feature of the heart muscle is its electrical activity since it manages the myocardium contraction and the entire heart pump function. Heart rhythm disturbances such as paroxysmal tachycardia can be life-threatening and thus must be treated immediately. Overdrive pacing is a novel out-of-hospital low-voltage way of heart electrotherapy and is simulated in the present paper. DT-MRI data is used to construct a volumetric model of the cardiac left ventricle. A two-variable cell-level model and a fibers direction model are incorporated to calculate electrical excitation in the anisotropic tissue. A scroll wave is created first to simulate ventricular tachycardia. Low-energy overdrive pacing is applied then to shift the scroll wave toward the fibrous ring, where it disappears. This will stop the re-entry and treat the arrhythmia. The interval of effective pacing periods is determined with the use of different electrodes. The cycle lengths are measured at a detector and analyzed to elucidate the rhythm assimilation. The pacing was successful despite the Mobitz effect in some cases. © 2024 IEEE.

In the realm of audio signal processing, detecting impulsive urban sounds within continuous audio streams remains a complex endeavor. This paper presents an innovative solution via a hybrid Convolutional Neural Network - Recurrent Neural Network (CNN-RNN) framework. The CNN segments of the model target the extraction of spatial hierarchies from the audio, while the RNN components leverage their temporal memory capabilities to recognize and sequence sporadic urban auditory events. Drawing data from a rich collection of urban audio signals sourced from multiple global metropolises, the hybrid model was rigorously trained and evaluated. Findings underscore its superior detection accuracy in comparison to conventional methods, with a marked decrease in false positives. Moreover, the adaptability of the CNN-RNN architecture was evidenced by its consistent performance across diverse acoustic environments. This advancement in impulsive urban sound detection not only accentuates the efficacy of combined CNN-RNN systems but also has broader implications for urban planning, environmental assessments, and public safety initiatives. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper discusses the application of a phase-shifting transformer (PST) for the integration of high-power renewable energy sources (RES) into existing high-voltage grids. The global process of the electric power industry decarbonization is fast-paced nowadays. Many countries have committed themselves to building climate-neutral economies. The development of alternative energy generation in Russia is also one of the tasks set for the electricity industry. Russia has great potential in the development of RES. However, due to the instability of RES generation, there are difficulties with their integration into the power system. In some cases, the use of PST may be one of the possible solutions to this problem. In order to respond correctly to changes in the RES operating mode, the operators should be able to determine promptly the control angle of a PST. This is possible through the developed algorithms for the control angle calculating based on the current parameters of the mode and circuit. As a result of the conducted studies, it was possible to show that the control of modes using PST when integrating RES into the electric network can increase the reliability of power supply and make it possible to realize the output of all RES generated power, taking into account its generation instability. © 2024 IEEE.

Numerical simulation and GPU computing for the 2D wave equation with variable coefficient

In this paper, we present parallel numerical implementations of a 2D wave equation with a variable coefficient on GPU. We considered wave propagation simulations in shallow water areas caused by underwater movement and performed some numerical simulations at different time steps. The sequential algorithm is based on the implicit finite difference scheme and the parallel cyclic reduction (PCR) method. The parallel code was developed using CUDA technology and tested on different domain sizes. Performance analysis showed that our parallel approach showed a good speedup compared to sequential CPU code. The proposed parallel visualisation simulator can serve as a good tool for numerous water management systems in engineering practices. Copyright © 2023 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Abstract: The ‘‘obstacle problem’’ is posed for a one-dimensional equationwith a monotone quasilinear diffusion operator and a materialfractional derivative of variable order in time (fractionalderivative with respect to the characteristics of the convectionoperator). An implicit finite-difference scheme is constructed andinvestigated. The grid scheme is formulated on the current timelayer in two forms: as a complementarity problem and as aninclusion containing a diagonal multivalued maximal monotoneoperator. The inclusion formulation is used to obtain a prioriestimates of the solution in the maximum norm with a maximum-normor grid -norm for the right-hand side. Inturn, the formulation in the form of a complementarity problemallows us to construct a grid scheme for projecting onto the gridthe exact solution of the differential problem. The error ofapproximation of the grid scheme on the assumed smooth solution ofthe differential problem is studied. The obtained stability andapproximation estimates imply the accuracy estimate, which turnsout to be the same as in the case of the corresponding equationwith a smooth solution. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. 2024.

Estimating Worst-Case Execution Time (WCET) as a regression problem has become increasingly challenging due to the complexity of modern hardware and software systems. Traditional statistical methods often fall short of providing accurate and reliable estimates. To address these limitations, ensemble learning methods have emerged as a promising approach for capturing edge cases in execution scenarios. This paper proposes a novel ensemble model that integrates fractional-order Legendre functions (FLF) to enrich feature representation. This integration reduces correlations between individual models within the ensemble, enhancing generalization capabilities. Our method achieves significant reductions in Mean Squared Error (MSE) for WCET estimates while maintaining high levels of safeness. Specifically, the proposed model maintained an error below one across most benchmarks, with safeness levels of %100 in 13 out of 16 benchmarks. These findings underscore the efficacy of our approach and its potential to provide robust and accurate WCET estimates for complex systems. © 2025 IEEE.

Large-scale computing and data processing with cloud resources is gaining popularity. However, the usage of the cloud differs from traditional high-performance computing (HPC) systems and both algorithms and codes have to be adjusted. This work is often time-consuming and performance is not guaranteed. To address this problem we have developed the PCJ library (parallel computing in Java), a novel tool for scalable HPC and big data processing in Java. In this article, we present a performance evaluation of parallel applications implemented in Java using the PCJ library. The performance evaluation is based on the examples of highly scalable applications of different characteristics focusing on CPU, communication or I/O. They run on the traditional HPC system and Amazon web services Cloud as well as Linaro Developer Cloud. For the clouds, we have used Intel x86 and ARM processors for running Java codes without changing any line of the program code and without the need for time-consuming recompilation. Presented applications have been parallelized using the partitioned global address space programming model and its realization in the PCJ library. Our results prove that the PCJ library, due to its performance and ability to create simple portable code, has great promise to be successful for the parallelization of various applications and run them on the cloud with a performance close to HPC systems. © 2021 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Many papers on traffic management have dealt with optimizing traffic light signals with the assumption that the traffic flow (TF) speed is fixed or follows a given distribution. In our study, we focused on determining vehicle speed in real time and assessing its impact on the delay of vehicles. A convolutional neural network (YOLOv3) is used to detect vehicles and determine their speed through the real-Time processing of video streams from traffic surveillance cameras. The developed system can identify and classify 11 traffic flow types and track the trajectory and speed of vehicles passing through a regulated intersection. When analyzing the obtained data, we identified two important factors contributing to the formation of vehicle queues at intersections during a red light. We revealed the nature and statistically significant measure of reducing free vehicle movement speed depending on the queue size, and determined the maximum vehicle queue size which does not significantly affect the dynamics of passing through an intersection. The obtained data allow us to optimize adaptive regulation and synchronization of traffic lights based on the recommended traffic flow speed. © 2023 IEEE.
