This manuscript addresses the problem of finding optimal control for dynamic systems using the gradient descent method. A numerical algorithm is constructed to find the optimal control in problems with a free right endpoint of the trajectory. The accuracy and speed of the algorithm depend on the choice of the time interval partition size and the stopping conditions of the gradient descent method. A key feature of the proposed algorithm is its ability to generalize for problems of finding optimal control with various types of boundary conditions. The algorithm's operation is illustrated by the example of finding the optimal temperature in a chemical kinetics problem. Numerical simulations have shown an improvement in accuracy and convergence speed compared to existing methods.

This work is devoted to the construction of homodesmotically reactions of cyclic organic compounds and the determination of the standard enthalpy of formation. A graph-theoretic algorithm has been developed for constructing a basic set of homodesmotic reactions of organic compounds. The authors propose a software implementation of the developed algorithm. The analysis of the basic set of homodesmotic reactions for an organic compound makes it possible to increase the reliability of the theoretical determination of the standard enthalpy of formation. In this paper, the basis of homodesmotic reactions for cyclopentanone is constructed and the standard enthalpy of formation is calculated.

This article discusses the development of an interval algorithm based on the method of successive approximations for solving optimal control problems under uncertainty of initial data. To achieve this goal, interval analysis methods are applied, allowing for the consideration of variations in system parameters. A numerical implementation of the algorithm is provided, along with a description of a computational experiment using a model example. The results demonstrate that the proposed method can construct confidence intervals for the solutions to the optimal control problem, making it useful for practical applications in situations with uncertainty in initial parameters.

Companies today face many demands, not only from customers but also from legislative bodies, associations and other stakeholders. Therefore, sustainable transport management and planning that takes into account economic, societal, legal, and environmental concerns is now a key challenge for public transportation agencies, and an important parameter for company’s business continuity. The optimization of the vehicle routes in logistics is a fundamental task for the company in order to reduce the total cost of distribution, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The green vehicle routing problem (GVRP) is an emerging research field that has received recent attention, many researchers have contributed to this emerging research field, studying and analyzing the impact of pollutants—mainly the carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2) resulting from fleet activities on environment, human health and welfare. This study gives a concise assessment of the literature on GVRP and the major variants that have already been discussed in the literature. Additionally, we provide a mathematical representation of the GCVRP and the method used to calculate the CO2 emissions matrix that will be used in future projects. Effectively reconstructing 3D hyperspectral images (HSIs) from 2D measurements presents a significant challenge in Coded Aperture Snapshot Spectral Imaging (CASSI) systems. While recent transformers exhibit potential in HSI reconstruction, they often suffer from inadequate exploration of multi-scale spatial-spectral self-similarity, leading to mean effects and information loss. Additionally, these methods struggle with insufficient modeling of the degradation inherent in the compressive imaging process. To address these issues, we propose a novel Mask-guided Multi-scale Spatial-Spectral Transformer (MMSST). Specifically, we introduce a Degradation Aware Mask Attention (DAMA) module to incorporate degradation information of the compressive imaging process. Furthermore, MMSST leverages Local-Regional SpAtial attention (LRSA) and Global-Regional SpEctral attention (GRSE) to effectively exploit multi-scale self-similarity across spatial and spectral dimensions. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our MMSST. © 2025 IEEE.

The article presents the issues of thematic modeling. The existing approaches for determining the optimal number of topics when working with text data are considered. Calculated metrics such as coherence score, perplexity. There are many widely used methods for determining topics when working with text data. But most of the methods are developed based on the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA). One of the main disadvantages of the probabilistic LDA model is the parameter $\theta$ , which the researcher must determine in advance, which is often impossible to know a priori. One of the main adopted strategies is the calculation of a series of LDA models with a different number of topics in a certain quantitative range, followed by the calculation of the quality metrics of the resulting topics.

The exponential growth of the number of devices connected to the Internet and the use of IoT applications increases the amount of data exchange over public channels in low-cost and low-power embedded systems. Images are the most widely shared files, and standard symmetric algorithms such as the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) are optimized for text but not image encryption. Consequently, new approaches like chaotic encryption have attracted researchers’ interest. Chaotic encryption schemes have been analyzed mostly from a software standpoint, but recent advancements in the field, through the use of discrete chaotic maps, enabled the development of simpler hardware implementations of ciphers with promising reductions in power and cost and increased performance. This work presents the Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) implementation of a simultaneous permutation-diffusion chaotic encryption scheme utilizing a discrete-space chaotic map. The FPGA implementation of the cipher is analyzed considering area, maximum frequency, and power consumption, and comparisons are made with the AES. The proposed algorithm has a satisfactory trade-off between area, power and performance, obtaining a peak throughput 59% higher than state-of-the-art symmetric ciphers in the literature. Thus, the proposed cipher shows that chaotic ciphers are viable for both high-performance and low-power embedded devices. Tests verified the security of the proposed cipher against statistical, differential, brute-force, and chosen plain-text attacks. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

This paper focuses on investigating the relationship between the variation in the porosity and the effective electrical conductivity of the synthetic samples, reproducing the internal structure of the real geological object. Synthetic samples based on the real sandstone sample with varying porosity were generated and their effective conductivity tensors were computed. The results show that while the average porosity recovery error is relatively low, the pore space topology appears to be less intricate, leading to a lower connectivity factor compared to the reference Berea sandstone sample. This, in turn, affects the anisotropy nature of the effective electrical conductivity in the synthetic samples. The study highlights the importance of considering the pore space connectivity factor when modeling the effective properties of porous media. The findings suggest that even small variations in porosity can lead to significant changes in the effective conductivity, emphasizing the need for accurate representation of pore space topology in simulations. © 2024 IEEE.

In this work, a method for finding nonlinear heat-conducting characteristics of soil is developed. Two-layer complexes of containers were created, the side faces of which are thermally insulated, so the 1D thermal conductivity equation is used. A temperature sensor is placed at the junction of the two media, and a mixed boundary value problem is solved in each area. In order to provide the inverse coefficient problem with initial data, two temperature sensors are used: one sensor was placed at the open border of the container and recorded the soil temperature at this border, and the second sensor was placed at a short distance from the border, which recorded the air temperature. The measurements were carried out in the time interval (0,4t max ). First, the initial-boundary value problem of thermal conductivity with nonlinear coefficients is investigated by the finite difference method. Two types of difference schemes are constructed: linearized and nonlinear. The linearized difference scheme is implemented numerically by the scalar Thomas method, and the nonlinear difference problem is solved by the Newton method. The solution of the linearized difference problem was taken as the initial approximation of the Newton method. To find the thermophysical parameters, the corresponding functional is minimized using the gradient descent method. In addition, all thermophysical characteristics (8 coefficients) were found for a two-layer container with sand and chernozem. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The field of clinical natural language processing (NLP) can extract useful information from clinical text. Since 2017, the NLP field has shifted towards using pre-trained language models (PLMs), improving performance in several tasks. Most of the research in this field has focused on English text, but there are some available PLMs in Spanish. In this work, we use clinical PLMs to analyze text from admission and medical reports in Spanish for an insurance and health provider to give a probability of no coverage in a labor insurance process. Our results show that fine-tuning a PLM pretrained with the provider's data leads to better results, but this process is time-consuming and computationally expensive. At least for this task, fine-tuning publicly available clinical PLM leads to comparable results to a custom PLM, but in less time and with fewer resources. Analyzing large volumes of insurance requests is burdensome for employers, and models can ease this task by pre-classifying reports that are likely not to have coverage. Our approach of entirely using clinical-related text improves the current models while reinforcing the idea of clinical support systems that simplify human labor but do not replace it. To our knowledge, the clinical corpus collected for this study is the largest one reported for the Spanish language. © 2023 Association for Computational Linguistics.
