Exploration of melting heat transfer and entropy generation in a magnetized hybrid nanoliquid over an extending sheet of varying thickness

The analysis of melting heat transfer over an expansive sheet of variable thickness is of the utmost importance in various industrial and engineering sectors, such as injection molding of polymers and composites, cooling of nuclear reactors, hot rolling, etc. Thus, the current work examines the flow dynamics, melting heat transport, and entropy generation of a magneto-hybrid nanofluid over a stretching device with variable thickness in porous media. A water-based hybridized nanofluid is formed using copper (Cu) and aluminium oxide (Al₂O₃) nanoparticles in the presence of thermal radiation, viscous dissipation, and Joulean heating. The transport partial derivatives were transmuted to ordinary derivatives using appropriate similarity quantities. These equations were numerically solved through shooting techniques combined with the Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg (RKF) method. Diverse figures and tables are sketched to illustrate the outcomes of the various parameters involved in the study. The investigation reveals an enlargement in the heat-bounding surface with an escalation in the magnitude of volume fraction, melting heat transfer, and magnetic field terms. In contrast, the momentum-bounding surface depletes with these parameters. Furthermore, as thermal radiation and Eckert numbers rise, the thermal gradient increases. The entropy generation increases with higher Brikman number and porosity term, but the melting heat parameter causes a decline in the entropy profiles. © 2024

The Wiener index of a network, introduced by the chemist Harry Wiener [30], is the sum of distances between all pairs of nodes in the network. This index, originally used in chemical graph representations of the non-hydrogen atoms of a molecule, is considered to be a fundamental and useful network descriptor. We study the problem of constructing geometric networks on point sets in Euclidean space that minimize the Wiener index: given a set P of n points in Rd, the goal is to construct a network, spanning P and satisfying certain constraints, that minimizes the Wiener index among the allowable class of spanning networks. In this work, we focus mainly on spanning networks that are trees and we focus on problems in the plane (d= 2 ). We show that any spanning tree that minimizes the Wiener index has non-crossing edges in the plane. Then, we use this fact to devise an O(n4) -time algorithm that constructs a spanning tree of minimum Wiener index for points in convex position. We also prove that the problem of computing a spanning tree on P whose Wiener index is at most W, while having total (Euclidean) weight at most B, is NP-hard. Computing a tree that minimizes the Wiener index has been studied in the area of communication networks, where it is known as the optimum communication spanning tree problem. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

This paper presents a new computational framework for the co-optimization and co-control of morphable surface structures using topology optimization and circle-packing algorithms. The proposed approach integrates the design of optimized compliant components and the system-level control of the overall surface morphology. By representing the surface shape using circle packing and leveraging conformal mapping, the framework enables smooth deformation between 2D and 3D shapes while maintaining local geometry and global morphology. The morphing surface design problem is recast as designing circular compliant actuators using level-set topology optimization with displacements and stiffness objectives. The optimized component designs are then mapped back onto the circle packing representation for coordinated control of the surface morphology. This integrated approach ensures compatibility between local and global geometries and enables efficient actuation of the morphable surface. The effectiveness of the proposed framework is demonstrated through numerical examples and physical prototypes, showcasing its ability to design and control complex morphable surfaces with applications in various fields. The co-optimization and co-control capabilities of the framework are verified, highlighting its potential for realizing advanced morphable structures with optimized geometries and coordinated actuation. This integrated approach goes beyond conventional methods by considering both local component geometry and global system morphology and enabling coordinated control of the morphable surface. The general nature of our approach makes it applicable to a wide range of problems involving the design and control of morphable structures with complex, adaptive geometries. In most organizations, especially order-oriented ones meeting deadlines are crucial. Job shop environments could be mentioned as an example where decision makers are try to schedule all jobs in such a way that tardy jobs (TJ) are minimized. Indeed, manufacturers are received customers’ orders and required to deliver them no later than the determined due dates. Otherwise, penalties should be paid to customers and it can lead to a huge amount of financial loss. Also, regarding global warming and climate changes manufacturers should redesign their processes from an eco-friendly perspective. Motivated by these issues, in this paper, a green bi-objective model has been formulated to solve the problem of scheduling parallel machines considering TJ and job splitting property (JSP). In the proposed model, the first objective function minimizes the total number of TJ while the second objective function is minimization of total energy consumption. An augmented Ε-constraint method has been deployed for solving small-scale problems. However, to solve large-scale problems, an efficient Simulated Annealing (SA) algorithm has been developed while a Harmony Search (HS) algorithm has also been applied to examine the quality of the proposed SA algorithm. Random generated problems have been used to compare the results of three deployed algorithms. Results approved that the proposed SA algorithm outperforms others significantly. In particular, SA solved the problems sooner than others while its solutions were closer to solutions of the augmented Ε-constraint method. © 2022

Purpose: This current attempt focuses on the investigation of inclined magnetized Cross fluid flow in fuzzy conditions embedded with the chemical process with fuzzy complex conditions. Formulation: The governing system of modeled PDEs are tackled numerically with the utilization of finite difference method under fuzzy conditions at the boundary surface. Finding: The magnetic parameter intensifies the velocity field and induced magnetic field H. Amplification in viscosity parameter diminishes the velocity. Novelty: α‐cut technique for the case of fuzzified Cross fluid has not been studied in the accessible literature. © 2024

Protecting public keys from unauthorized access is crucial in public key cryptosystems (PKC). Typically, password authentication methods must have at a minimum one institution to verify both public and private keys. The aim of this paper is to introduce a new, efficient password authentication method that's established on Chebyshev chaotic maps over Galois fields, marking a significant advancement in cryptographic security. Chebyshev chaotic maps are renowned for their sensitive dependence on fundamental circumstances and complex dynamics, making them ideal for enhancing password security. Through a comprehensive analysis of Chebyshev map theory and its application in generating unpredictable sequences, we developed an authentication architecture that not only improves security but also maintains user convenience. This proposed method offers robust security while maintaining a straightforward authentication process. © 2024 IEEE.

Optimizing Limited Class-Imbalanced Data for Classification of Regional Food Prices in Indonesia

This study aims to classify 411 Indonesian regencies and cities with sparse historical food price data based on economic characteristics, addressing challenges related to class imbalance and limited data availability. Building on a previous classification of 103 regions, we utilize nine key economic indicators—Average School Duration, Expected School Duration, Expenditure, Food Security Index, Gross Regional Domestic Product, Life Expectancy, Poor Percentage, Rural Population, and Urban Population—to categorize these unclassified regions. We evaluate the performance of three machine learning models—Random Forest, Linear SVM, and RBF SVM—under eight preprocessing techniques for class imbalance handling, including naïve oversampling, SMOTE, and ADASYN. Hyperparameter tuning was conducted using bootstrap resampling with 100 repetitions, yielding a mean balanced accuracy of 0.998 (SD = 0.016) and mean ROC-AUC of 0.998 (SD = 0.017). The best-performing model, Random Forest with naïve oversampling (over-ratio = 0.75) and eight selected features, achieved perfect classification accuracy on the validation set. The Food Security Index and Gross Regional Domestic Product emerged as the most influential variables. The resulting classification framework provides a basis for identifying regions with similar food price dynamics, enabling policymakers to apply interventions based on comparable areas. By supporting data-driven decision-making for food price stability, this study contributes to economic resilience and sustainable development in Indonesia. © (2025), (International Association of Engineers). This paper introduces a new family of discrete distributions with two shape parameters, termed the Generalized Two-Parameter Discrete Distribution (GTPDD). The raw and central moments are derived from a general expression for its rth factorial moments. Additionally, the paper provides expressions for the moment generating function, coefficient of variation, skewness, kurtosis, index of dispersion and the hazard function. Parameter estimation is addressed using the maximum likelihood estimation method, and the uniqueness of the maximum likelihood estimators is also verified. The applicability of the proposed distribution is illustrated through the modeling of two real data sets, one from engineering and the other from survival analysis. © 2024

Sampling from Spherical Spin Glasses in Total Variation via Algorithmic Stochastic Localization

We consider the problem of algorithmically sampling from the Gibbs measure of a mixed p-spin spherical spin glass. We give a polynomial-time algorithm that samples from the Gibbs measure up to vanishing total variation error, for any model whose mixture satisfies 1 ξ2psq ă p1 ´ sq2 , @s P r0, 1q. This includes the pure p-spin glasses above a critical temperature that is within an absolute (p-independent) constant of the so-called shattering phase transition. Our algorithm follows the algorithmic stochastic localization approach introduced in [AMS22]. A key step of this approach is to estimate the mean of a sequence of tilted measures. We produce an improved estimator for this task by identifying a suitable correction to the TAP fixed point selected by approximate message passing (AMP). As a consequence, we improve the algorithm’s guarantee over previous work, from normalized Wasserstein to total variation error. In particular, the new algorithm and analysis opens the way to perform inference about one-dimensional projections of the measure. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
