In this paper, we consider the following viscoelastic problem with variable exponent nonlinearities: (Formula presented.) where m(.) and q(.) are two functions satisfying specific conditions. This type of problems appears in fluid dynamics, the electrorheological fluids (smart fluids), which show changing (often dramatically) in the viscosity when an electrical field is applied. The Lebesgue and Sobolev spaces with variable exponents are efficient tools to analyze such problems. In this work, we prove a global existence result using the well-depth method and establish explicit and general decay results under a very general assumption on the relaxation function. Our results extend and generalize many results in the literature. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

The parasitic disease known as sleeping sickness, or human African trypanosomiasis, is spread by vectors. Trypanosoma protozoans are the cause of it. Humans contract the parasites through the bites of tsetse flies (glossina), which have taken up the parasites from infected humans or animals. The boundedness and positivity of solutions of the proposed model have been ascertained, and the existence of equilibria has been accessed, which shows that the model consist of two equilibrium, the disease-free equilibrium and endemic equilibrium points. Using the next-generation matrix method, we calculated the control and basic reproduction number. It has been determined that the disease-free equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable if the control reproduction number is less than unity. The findings indicate that the disease-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable whenever the control reproduction number is less than one. A unique endemic equilibrium is contained in the model, as evidenced by the determination of the existence of endemic equilibrium. The global asymptotic stability of the endemic equilibrium point has been determined by applying the non-linear Lyapunov function of the Go-Volterra type. The findings indicate that the endemic equilibrium point is globally asymptotically stable when the control reproduction number is greater than one and when both the disease-induced death and the control reproduction number are zero. In a sensitivity analysis section, we found that $$\beta _h$$ , $$\beta _v$$ , and a are the three most sensitive parameters for increasing the transmission. On the contrary, $$\sigma _2$$ and $$\theta _1$$ are the two most sensitive for reducing the spread., In the numerical simulation section, we were able to see how important is awareness on the dynamics of trypanosomiasis or sleeping sickness, as it is in numerical simulation section, public awareness was simulated to assess its importance in controlling trypanosomiasis or sleepi

An Improved Exact Algorithm for the Euclidean $K$-Steiner Tree Problem

In the classical geometric Steiner tree problem, we are given a set of points in the plane and our aim is to find the shortest network interconnecting the set of points. An unlimited number of additional vertices, called Steiner points, may be added to shorten the network. In the minimum k-Steiner tree problem, the number of Steiner points is limited to some nonnegative integer k, which creates additional complexity. This paper improves on the current algorithmic approach to solving the Euclidean k-Steiner tree problem. We introduce a novel pruning test and strengthen existing tests to allow more extensive elimination of sub-optimal topologies during the generation phase of the algorithm. We also introduce a new ILP model for the concatenation phase. Finally, we present experimental results that demonstrate the effectiveness of these novel components. © 2025, The Authors. Single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) technology has revolutionized the field by enabling the profiling of transcriptomes in cell resolution. However, it is flawed by the sparsity caused by low mRNA capture efficiency during sequencing. This results in "dropout"events where genes are expressed but not detected. Dropout can hinder downstream analyses like differential expression and clustering. To tackle this issue, we present a novel imputation approach called MKGAE, which utilizes graph convolution and autoencoder techniques to construct a generative model for imputing missing values within scRNA-seq data. Meanwhile, considering the intricate relationships between genes, merging them into a single graph might lead to the loss of important insights. To address this, we utilize two gene-to-gene graph kernels for graph convolution. Experiments across both simulated and real scRNA-seq datasets illustrate MKGAE's superiority over other state-of-the-art methods in terms of clustering analysis and differentially expressed gene identification. © 2023 IEEE.

The human musculoskeletal system is characterized by redundancy in the sense that the number of muscles exceeds the number of degrees of freedom of the musculoskeletal system. In practice, this means that a given motor task can be performed by activating the muscles in infinitely many different ways. This redundancy is important for the functionality of the system under changing external or internal conditions, including different diseased states. A central problem in biomechanics is how, and based on which principles, the complex of central nervous system and musculoskeletal system selects the normal activation patterns, and how the patterns change under various abnormal conditions including neurodegenerative diseases and aging. This work lays the mathematical foundation for a formalism to address the question, based on Bayesian probabilistic modeling of the musculoskeletal system. Lagrangian dynamics is used to translate observations of the movement of a subject performing a task into a time series of equilibria which constitute the likelihood model. Different prior models corresponding to biologically motivated assumptions about the muscle dynamics and control are introduced. The posterior distributions of muscle activations are derived and explored by using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) sampling techniques. The different priors can be analyzed by comparing the model predictions with actual observations. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Atopic dermatitis, also known as eczema, is a common chronic skin condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It is characterized by inflamed, itchy, and dry skin, often accompanied by redness, swelling, and the formation of small bumps or blisters. This condition can vary in severity, ranging from mild and intermittent to severe and persistent. Precise and dependable decision-making by a dermatologist is essential to ensure improved therapy and risk stratification for the patient. Usually, dermatologists depend on visual assessment to ascertain a severity score, but this approach is subjective and can vary among different doctors. This research aim to classify the atopic dermatitis severity based on advance machine learning model such as XGBoost, CatBoost, LigthGBM, and Random Forest. Among the evaluated models, the CatBoost model showed as the most effective and reliable in classification, It achieved an accuracy of 89%, precision of 90%, recall of 89%, and an F-Score of 89%. © 2023 IEEE.

So Long Sucker: Endgame Analysis

So Long Sucker is a strategy board game requiring 4 players, each with c chips of their designated color, and a board made of k empty piles. With a clear set-up come intricate rules, such as: players taking turns but not in a fixed order, agreements between some players being made and broken at any time, and a player winning the game even without any chips in hand. One of the main points of interest in studying this game, is finding when a player has a winning strategy. The game begins with four players that get eliminated successively until the winner is left. To study winning strategies, it is of interest to look at endgame situations. We present the following game set-up: there are two players left in the game, Blue and Red, and only their respective chip colors. In this paper, we characterize Blue’s winning situations and strategies through inductive reasoning. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Soft skills competencies is a special skill by a person in the field of self-management. This competency is very much needed by higher education in getting a job in the era of industry 4.0 and society 5.0. Analysis of the impact of soft skills competencies is currently not widely carried out, even though the tracer study instrument for higher education already exists. Prediction of graduate readiness to enter the work world is very important for higher education. It is necessary to carry out further analysis in this regard. The focus of this research is to analyze the relationship between soft skills competencies and the absorption of graduates in getting a job before six months using the random forest algorithm. The results of the testing using confusion matrix in the development of this prediction model resulted an accuracy of 64%. © 2022 IEEE.
