We introduce a hyperbolic closure for the Grad moment expansion of the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook’s (BGK) kinetic model using a neural network (NN) trained on BGK’s moment data. This closure is motivated by the exact closure for the free streaming limit that we derived in our paper on closures in transport [15]. The exact closure relates the gradient of the highest moment to the gradient of four lower moments. As with our past work, the model presented here learns the gradient of the highest moment in terms of the coefficients of gradients for all lower ones. By necessity, this means that the resulting hyperbolic system is not conservative in the highest moment. For stability, the output layers of the NN are designed to enforce hyperbolicity and Galilean invariance. This ensures the model can be run outside of the training window of the NN. Unlike our previous work on radiation transport that dealt with linear models, the BGK model’s nonlinearity demanded advanced training tools. These comprised an optimal learning rate discovery, one cycle training, batch normalization in each neural layer, and the use of the AdamW optimizer. To address the nonconservative structure of the hyperbolic model, we adopt the FORCE numerical method to achieve robust solutions. This results in a comprehensive computing model combining learned closures with methods for solving hyperbolic models. The proposed model generalizes beyond the training time window for low to moderate Knudsen numbers. We consider the joint problem of system identification and inverse optimal control for discrete-time stochastic Linear Quadratic Regulators. We analyze finite and infinite time horizons in a partially observed setting, where the state is observed noisily. To recover closed-loop system parameters, we develop inference methods based on probabilistic statespace model (SSM) techniques. First, we show that the system parameters exhibit non-identifiability in the infinite-horizon from closed-loop measurements, and we provide exact and numerical methods to disentangle the parameters. Second, to improve parameter identifiability, we show that we can further enhance recovery by either (1) incorporating additional partial measurements of the control signals or (2) moving to the finitehorizon setting. We further illustrate the performance of our methodology through numerical examples. © 2024 IEEE.

This research is motivated by the development of education in the 21st-century, which demands students to master the 4C skills (creative thinking, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication), particularly in the field of physics. The nature of physics learning requires active and interactive teaching methods that can be implemented through project-based activities for students. One effective instructional media is the student worksheet designed based on STEM-PjBL (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics project-based learning) principles. This research aims to assess the suitability of STEM-PjBL student worksheets as a learning media, which can serve as a recommendation to assist teachers in teaching renewable energy topics. This study uses the ADDIE model to adopt the Research and Development (R&D) method. This research results in a STEM-PjBL student worksheet as a physics learning media to understand renewable energy topics. The STEM-PjBL student worksheet is expected to assist students in mastering 21st-century skills effectively. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Leader-follower collective motion is a key multi-agent network application. However, conventional methods struggle with high dynamics or communication interferences and fail to maintain consistent motion. To address this issue, a resilient dual-class cooperative following (DCCF) model is proposed. This model uses two movement strategies for the different follower categories. Leader-connected followers use a single-tracking control based on velocity or direction, whereas leader-disjoint followers employ a modified relative speed for single tracking. The DCCF model may be more suitable for practical use than existing ones. Simulations under degraded conditions demonstrate its superior tracking performance and robustness over traditional methods. © 2024 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

This paper examines the diffusive mussel–algae model and explores soliton solutions and wave structures using advanced analytical techniques, particularly the new auxiliary equation method. The proposed method reveals a variety of solution types, including hyperbolic, parabolic, and mixed forms. These closed-form results provide the nature of the current problem. These solutions are validated against known results and numerical simulations. Additionally, we describe two-dimensional and three-dimensional graphical representations of the solutions, illustrating their spatial and temporal dynamics. This study enhances the theoretical understanding of mussel algae interactions and offers practical insights for eco-logical management, showcasing the contributions of the approach to resolving complex ecological dynamics © 2025 The Authors

One of the most critical processes in the petroleum industry is transporting crude oil and its derivatives. Usually, it is done, due to easiness and economic aspects, through pipelines;several products, such as gasoline, kerosene, naphtha, and liquefied petroleum gas, among others, are moved in batch processes to both distribution and storage centers or transport ships. Since these transport systems transport different products, many works have focused on developing optimization strategies for scheduling these pipelines. That is, strategies that seek to optimize the use of the pipeline by establishing at what time points certain products must be transported. These strategies would be located at the planning level in the automation pyramid. In this work, on the other hand, different control strategies are proposed for a pipeline, but at the operation level. These strategies would be located at the control level, below the planning strategies in the automation pyramid. A pipeline of three pipe sections is modeled to develop the proposed control strategies, and the mathematical model is validated with actual data. The results show that, first, the proposed model approximates the actual behavior of the pipeline quite well and, second, that the combination of PID and feedforward control is an excellent alternative to implement control strategies for the operation of liquid transportation systems through pipelines. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of Computer Applications and Management 2025.

We propose a method to statistically analyze rates obtained from count data in spatio-temporal terms, allowing for regional and temporal comparisons. Generalized fused Lasso Poisson model is used to estimate the spatio-temporal effects of the rates;the coordinate descent algorithm is used for estimation. The three-dimensional (3D) FinFET architecture has gained significant attention due to its ability to effectively control gate electrode over conduction channels, reducing short-channel effects (SCEs). To contribute to this growing technology, 14 nm and 10 nm node gate length tri-gate (TG) n-FinFET are simulated and optimized the performance of the device with dielectric materials SiO 2 and Hf02 as a gate oxide. To analyze the impact of varying gate oxide thickness and gate work function $\Phi_{\mathrm{m}}$ with high-k gate oxide material for both gate length device. The results demonstrate that reducing the gate oxide thickness enhances the $\mathbf{I}_{\text{on}}/\mathbf{I}_{\text{off}}$ current ratio and decreases the leakage current employing $\mathbf{HfO_{2}}$ high-k dielectric material when compared to $\text{SiO}_{2}$ . However, decreasing the gate metalwork function $\Phi_{\mathrm{m}}$ lowers the threshold voltage and increasing $\Phi_{\mathrm{m}}$ values demonstrate the improvement in leakage current $(\mathbf{I}_{\mathbf{off}})$ . As a result, by properly adjusting the value of gate work function $\Phi_{\mathrm{m}}$ with $\mathbf{HfO_{2}}$ high-k dielectric material, $3\mathbf{D}$ trigate n-FinFET structure optimized results show the appropriately controlled leakage current and enhanced electrical performance of the device for the short channel effects (SCEs).

Effects of cross-Kerr coupling on transmission spectrum of double-cavity optomechanical system

We theoretically study the transmission spectrum of the cavity field in a double-cavity optomechanical system with cross-Kerr(CK) effect. The system consists of two tunneling coupling optomechanical cavities with a mechanical resonator as a coupling interface. By doping CK medium into the mechanical resonator, CK couplings between the cavity fields and the mechanical resonator are introduced. We investigate the effects of CK coupling strength on the transmission spectrum of the cavity field, including the transmission rate, nonreciprocity and four-wave mixing(FWM). We find that the transmission spectrum of the probe field can show two obvious transparent windows, which can be widened by increasing the CK coupling strength. For the transmission between the two cavity fields, the perfect nonreciprocity and reciprocity are present and modulated by CK coupling and phase difference between two effective optomechanical couplings. In addition, the effects of the optomechanical and CK couplings on FWM show that the single peak of FWM is split into three symmetrical peaks due to the introduction of the CK effect.
