The university admission process can be overwhelming for applicants and admission officers, with many questions being asked and answered every year. The manual classification of these questions can be time-consuming and may lead to errors, making exploring automated solutions to this problem essential. In recent years, advances in natural language processing (NLP), including question classification. The research proposes an architecture for a question classification system using the Indonesian Language in closed-domain question answering. The purpose of this research is to find out the classification of questions. We created a system with the Named-Entity Recognition method to recognize the next word that will be used as a candidate type of question and candidate answer. The type of question used is a factoid question. Research makes patterns and rules for extracting important words as features to determine the taxonomy of question classification. Datasets are collected from one private university in Indonesia. Data sources from Binus Online Learning websites and data on questions frequently asked by users, especially prospective students. The results of the question classification are presented using descriptive statistics. The results show that the question classification with users' most frequent question type is 'What' by 63.3%, and the answer category is 'tuition fees' by 22.4%. It can be concluded that the most frequent question type asked by users is 'What', and the most frequent topic of interest is 'tuition fees'. Organizations can use this information to improve customer service by providing more relevant information and resources about tuition fees. © 2023 IEEE.

Classification of Indonesian crops is a critical task in developing farming and getting more understanding of agriculture. However, there is no clear task in classifying types of crops in Indonesia. Transfer learning has been used successfully in a variety of image classification applications. Thus, in this paper, we collected images of Indonesian crops from the internet randomly and proposed a classification by using transfer learning of deep learning with four pre-trained models: EffficientNetB0, ResNet18, VGG19, and AlexNet. In the experiment, augmentation techniques such as random horizontal flip, random vertical flip, and random affine were utilized to prevent the network from overfitting. The result found that EfficientNet-B0 outperformed other models with an accuracy of 82.55. Then, the model struggled to distinguish between crops in the same family. According to the results, although transfer learning can work well to classify images of Indonesian agricultural crops, some improvements are still required to address existing issues. © 2023 The Authors. Examining topic-level variability in modeling Twitter data can potentially yield more comprehensive insights into public perception during critical periods, thereby enhancing natural disaster mitigation and surveillance efforts. In this study, we utilized generalized linear mixed models (GLMMs) to illustrate the variability in tweet counts related to specific topics in Indonesia during the flood events that occurred in February 2021. The glmmTMB library in R was employed for this purpose. The data were assumed to follow two distinct exponential distributions: Poisson and Negative Binomial. To incorporate random effects, random intercepts and random slopes were introduced, allowing them to vary randomly across topics in the initial two models. Additionally, the final model addressed issues related to dispersion and zero-inflation. By evaluating the Akaike Information Criteria scores, we determined that a model based on the Negative Binomial distribution with random zero-inflation intercepts best fit the data. The chosen model formulation and the estimated parameters have the potential to forecast topic-specific trends in Indonesian flood-related Twitter data. © 2023 The Authors. Several studies suggest that sleep quality is associated with physical activities. Moreover, deep sleep time can be used to determine the sleep quality of an individual. In this work, we aim to find the association between physical activities and deep sleep time by modeling the time series data such as heart rate and a number of steps captured from a commercial wearable device. Our previous study demonstrates that deep learning-based time series modeling is well suited for our problem since the temporal patterns in the two physical parameters need to be captured to obtain more accurate results. We first preprocess our series data to have a time-step size of 10 minutes. To improve our previous effort in this modeling, we compare four different variants of Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM)-based models, ranging from single input to dual input models. Our result shows that the simple stacked LSTM model performs better for our data because the remaining models suffer from overfitting due to a larger number of the trained parameters. © 2023 The Authors. Indonesia, as a nation with rich marine biodiversity, faces significant challenges in fostering ocean literacy due to the limited integration of ecological and technological content in formal education. In this study, we aimed to evaluate ocean literacy among university students through a project-based learning program incorporating deep learning and genomic data for fish species identification. The initiative responded to the urgent need for educational reform that supports sustainable ocean conservation practices. Using a quantitative approach, the program engaged 36 undergraduate biology students in various activities, including marine problem analysis, field-based fish species identification via the Fishiden platform, phylogenetic tree construction using genomic data, and public outreach through social media advocacy. Pretest and post-test evaluations measured changes in ocean literacy, while Likert-scale questionnaires assessed student engagement and perception. The results showed a significant increase in post-test scores, with a mean improvement from 58.11 to 71.88, and a moderate N-Gain of 0.30. Students who demonstrated positive responses to the program also achieved higher gains in ocean literacy, indicating a strong correlation between engagement and learning outcomes. The highest evaluation scores reflected students’ enhanced awareness, inquiry skills, and attitudes toward biodiversity conservation. Technological tools such as deep learning and genomic databases effectively support interactive and data-driven learning. These findings highlight the transformative potential of integrating technology into ocean literacy education. This research bridges technology, pedagogy, and marine conservation, emphasizing the integration of innovative educational strategies for sustainability. In the future, researchers should address study limitations and improve the accuracy of deep learning models. © 2025 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press.

The translation application was developed using Python and Visual Studio Code as the primary programming environment. Technological progress has led to the younger generation forsaking the Batak language in their daily interactions, perceiving it as inconsequential to their social circle and contributing to the decline of regional languages. There is concern that regional languages, namely the Batak language, may lose significance or face extinction if this trend persists. This translation program is being implemented to aid in preserving regional languages, specifically the Batak language, enabling it to conform to contemporary circumstances. The development of this translation engine utilized the Batak language dictionary. The process of designing, coding, and testing is responsible for creating this direct machine translation. The BLEU score is employed to assess the caliber of machine translation. The study's findings indicate that the % BLEU value for ten sentences was 32.3%. This score falls within the category of sentences whose meaning can be understood, but the sentence structure still needs development. The direct machine translation developed in this Web platform is highly proficient and practical. © 2023 IEEE.

Electrodermal activity (EDA) is a general term for all electrical phenomena occurring on the skin, both passive and active. EDA measurements are used by researchers to measure levels of stress, emotion, mental strain, and so on. Measuring human stress levels, emotions, and mental strain are generally associated with the skin conductance response. The function GSR sensor is not only used to read people's psychology but also can be used as a pain sensor used to read the degree of pain in the skin. This pilot study uses sample data from ***. The *** data is galvanic skin response sensor data. The output of this sensor is the conductivity value that occurs in the skin. The data obtained from *** will be extracted using the mean, standard deviation, maximum, minimum, RMS, skewness, and peak-to-peak characteristics. The extracted functions are selected using the forward selection method. The results of the feature selection are three features with an accuracy percentage greater than 50%, namely the mean feature, the RMS feature, and the skewness feature. The machine learning models used are bagged tree, SVM, and K-NN models. Of the three models used, the bagged tree model has the highest accuracy rate, at 98.05%, with an F1 score is 0.9807. The KNN model with k=10 has the lowest level of accuracy compared to other models, at 96.75%. © 2023 IEEE.

Hospitals are individual health service facilities that provide inpatient and outpatient care, therefore, quality hospital services, facilities, and resources are a necessity and must be met by every hospital. To assess the quality of hospital services, facilities, and resources, we can see reviews from users through reviews available on Google Maps. Using natural language understanding, we can identify the sentiment associated with each particular aspect. In this research, we developed a deep learning model which can classify three aspects (services, human resources, and facilities) with four sentiments (positive, negative, neutral, and none) using a multiclass-multioutput deep learning model, ensuring both aspect and sentiment classification within a single model. Our research concludes that the BERT-LSTM model demonstrates promising performance with an F1-score of 0.597, but faces challenges in accurately classifying neutral sentiment across all aspects due to the lack of neutral sentiment labels. © 2023 IEEE.

Preacher assignments to mosques in Kampar Regency have often been inefficient due to geographical distance and compatibility issues, limiting effective religious outreach. This study aims to optimize preacher assignments by applying the Divisive Hierarchical Clustering (DHC) algorithm. Analysis was conducted on a dataset of 250 records, clustering preachers and mosques based on geographical proximity and relevant attributes. Initial clustering modelling produced the highest silhouette score of 0.336. Dimensionality reduction using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) significantly improved the silhouette score to 0.8197, reflecting enhanced clustering quality. The elbow method validated eight clusters as optimal, with a value of 292.33. Research findings demonstrate that preachers can be effectively placed in geographically closer mosques aligned with their profiles, reducing inefficiencies. Business intelligence techniques visualized the clustering results, providing decision-makers with insights into geographical distribution and facilitating improved assignment strategies. These findings hold substantial implications for optimizing religious outreach in Kampar by minimizing logistical challenges and increasing engagement effectiveness. © 2024 IEEE.
